  • "We liked our stay at the lodge and it had everything from cutlery,glasses,pots& pans."

    we did have trouble with the front door it would open one day then it would get stuck. so I rang up about it and it was fixed that day so thumb ups for the Lodge and service.

  • "The first thing we had to do on arrival was clean the kitchen bin."

    Although it had a clean bin bag, the inside of the lid was dirty as was the plastic’ inner’. Other than that the lodge was very clean and well presented with comfortable beds and sofas. A nice little touch was having a speaker to connect our phones so we could play our music. The lodge is set back from the road so not much noise from passing cars or pedestrians. Although the lodge backs onto the main road we had no noise issues with the traffic. The pub and play area is a short walk away (again, no issues with noise) and the spar shop is right next to the site which is handy. The lakeside is just a two minute walk away and it’s a five minute walk into Bowness. We enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again in the future.

  • "On the whole, a really great lodge and would love to visit again."

    It was light and well maintained and a great space for us to enjoy the holiday. Sadly though, we probably wont visit again because the bed has a standard spring mattress and was quite uncomfortable. We struggled to get a decent night sleep, which took it's toll. My next comments about cleanliness are intended to be more constructive for improvement rather than critical. The cleaners could do with dusting more frequently. The raised shelf above the sink unit as well as the lobby side table were very dusty and has clearly been missed quite a few times. The kitchen floor was messy and we couldn't vacuum ourselves as the cordless V-tec in the store cupboard didn't have a charger. Most of the towels were makeup stained and could do with either a boil wash or replacement.

The property

Bowness Bay Lodge, is a delightful detached lodge tucked away in a peaceful setting, nestled on the popular Fallbarrow Park, in Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria.

This contemporary lodge is just a short stroll from the on site clubhouse and facilities, and only a little further to the amenities of Bowness and Lake Windermere, making it an ideal base for families looking to make the most of Lake District.

Once inside, take over the superbly equipped shaker style fitted kitchen and rustle up a hearty meal to be enjoyed at the dining table.

Two plush sofas and an electric fire invite you to settle down, whilst the wall-mounted Smart TV provides entertainment for the evening.

Step out to the decked area and congregate on the large corner sofa, sipping a glass of wine as you relax.

The master bedroom features a double bed and en-suite shower room, whilst the twin is served by a family bathroom. The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness is a must-see for lovers of the famed children's author, and National Trust gems like Wray Castle and Hill Top are just a short drive away on the opposite side of the Lake Windermere.

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. A travel cot and highchair are not provided. Please bring your own bedding for the travel cot.

Fallbarrrow Park management lock the entrance gates at midnight. If you are arriving after midnight, please call the night warden.

Please note that the charging of electric vehicles is not permitted at this lodge.
The nearest charging point can be found at Booths Supermarket in Windermere.

Park Rules and Operations – Fallbarrow

All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.

Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite.

You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.

Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.
