"It would be close to perfect if the mattresses are firmer."
-
"Quite tight car parking"
-
"Lovely cottage, spacious clean and beautifully decorated."
Very central for Bowness and a lovely quiet base for our exploration walks . Only thing we missed was the accomodation not having a freezer ,even a small one would have been useful but apart from that everything else was perfect . Thank you for a lovely stay .

"We loved"

"Well located home with all the amenities we needed."
The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the living area comfortable. We enjoyed how close the restaurants were, and how easy to walk to the main pier., We enjoyed our stay and recommend the place to visit Bowness on Windermere. There are a lot of stairs so visitors with mobility might have an issue.

"Lovely accommodation."
Clean and comfortable. Only tiny issue was that the fridge door didn’t close without wedging a door stop in it. Fantastic location in the town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as first time visitors to the Lakes.
-
"Had problem with the large velux in the main bedroom not closing properly."
Thanks for the feedback Allison and really glad you had a great stay. Our maintenance team (headed by Will) are going to be in this month to fix the frame. Have a lovely rest of the summer. Property Owner

"Wonderful place to stay and location is perfect to get a great mix of the outdoors and town life."
Kids had a wondeful time here and are looking to return again soon!

"Fantastic holiday home."
Great location. Lovely, clean and comfortable. All the added extras that we needed. Thankyou very much.

"We had a great stay at chapel rest."
Everything was perfect. It was cozy, beautifu and had everything we needed. Will definitely come back next time we come to the lakes

"Chapel Rest was the perfect spot to use as a home base for exploring."
We visited with my husband, our 5 year old (who loved the bunk beds!) my 79 year old mother in law and our 5 month old baby. It was perfectly comfortable for all of us with plenty of space. I will say, if you have limited mobility, it would be a challenging place to stay because of all the stairs (as noted in the listing), but we liked having the separation of space. We all want to come back and visit again.

"Great holiday home."
Fabulous location right in the centre of town. Added benefit of having its own parking space. The accommodation was clean and decorated to a high standard. Would definitely recommend.
-
"This house was a home away from home."
There was nothing it didn’t provide. Location was more than ideal. Very central for a young family of 5 to get around on foot to the tourist locations as well as drive to various parts of the Lake District within a short drive. Wish we could go back again soon. Thank you for the comfort you have given our family

"All round fantastic!"
Manoeuvring into the parking space is not for the faint hearted - but anyone who’s familiar with Bowness will understand how great it is to have private parking in the village. The location is absolutely brilliant - literally a stones throw from all the shops, cafes and cinema. The house itself was spotlessly clean, lovely fixtures and fittings and a very well equipped kitchen. Would be more than happy to stay again.

"Beautiful and spacious home and we loved the proximity to be able to walk to everything!"
Highly recommend!
-
"Large comfortable airy rooms and good kitchen easy walk to any of Bowness points of interest ."
The Flying Pig well worth a visit .

"Really lovely place."
In such a good location. The parking was a little tricky. But didn't detract from our experience.
-
"Lovely place excellent size ."
Excellent location . Kitchen very nice for a family meal on our first night stay . Shower in en suite powerful much better than mine missed it when I went home . Very clean

"A lovely property in a great location."
House was well kitted out and very clean and spacious. Would highly recommend.

"We had such a lovely stay at Chapel Rest and didn’t want to leave!"
Perfect location in Bowness and the accommodation is brilliant. Everything is really well set up for children too which made things so much easier when travelling with two toddlers. Thank you! Only small suggestion for improvement would be to provide a spare key, as you need the key to lock the door and can’t then put the key in the lock outside if any of your group are still out. Just a minor suggestion as we really did love our stay!

"Lovely apartment in an excellent location in Bowness on Windermere."
Spacious comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated, very effective heating, power shower, and reliable WiFi. We stayed for two weeks on a working holiday - the large dining table doubled up as a desk for the two of us (there are two double plug sockets beside it). We would definitely stay there again.

"There are some lovely qualities to this property e."
G. some beautiful furniture and wall paper and location. But the property is clearly in need of a good clean and some TLC. We encountered sticky floors; low hanging and visible cobwebs; dirty surfaces in kitchen with old tomato seeds stuck to bread bin etc; dirty cutlery and crockery in dishwasher from last guests. We had to wash all the cutlery and crockery in cupboards before using it as they had been returned dirty. The kitchen was full of stuff but much of it disjointed and impractical. There was for example only 2 champagne flutes and a mismatch of glasses. The dishwasher tablet container in door was calcified and not working. Guests should be advised to pop the tablet in the cutlery tray whilst the door is cleaned out and serviced. There are bulbs that need replacing in kitchen. In the bunk bed room, there was a knob missing on the top drawer of chest of drawers and the TV could not be used as the plug couldn’t reach the socket. The lounge was dirty. We found old receipts and dirty kitchen roll under the sofa, chair and sticky floors. Even old toys and kids things in / on sofa. One of the light switches didn’t work. Whilst the showers had good power the water did change intermittently from hot to cold and cold to hot, slightly burning my 9 year old son (but not badly) on one occasion. The shower screen in en suite leaks badly and floors were dirty. The towels provided were too small for dignity and quite threadbare. The bedding by comparison was good quality. The mattresses on the beds do need replacing - top bunk feels like there is a stone in the middle of it, master bedroom bed (beautiful bed) but lumpy mattress and bed squeaks and groans every time you turn over. The blinds in both upstairs bedrooms broken and there are no blackout blinds in master bedroom so the light wakes you circa 4am. Must be worse in summer. This was actually quite awful as we didn’t sleep properly all week. Not ideal whilst on holiday. The master bedroom also quite damp due to the severe condensation problem I suspect of the windows. We had an issue with the fire alarm - the alarm didn’t stop for over 15 hours - and contrary to the owner saying it wasn’t the fire alarm - it clearly was and we have a video showing the control unit and alarm going off. We were asked to turn off the alarm thereby the system and this did cause me great concern. If the owner can fix the above there is no need to publish this feedback. Much of this feedback is already however mentioned in much earlier reviews. I had therefore assumed the problems had been fixed. I feel it would be good for guests to know what they are getting for the price they are paying.

"Situation of house is excellent, shops, pubs and restaurants on the doorstep."
Beds were comfy but ensuite could have been cleaner. Behind the wash basin looked like it had never been cleaned and there was a leak from the bath which had made the doorframe at the bottom go mouldy. Also had to move one of the cabinets and there was a pile of hair and cobwebs. Travelled around the lakes and Bowness was the best place to stay.

"Fabulous accommodation in a beautiful location Every home comfort was catered for our stay Immaculately clean and great facilities throughout."
Will definitely be returning
-
"We were able to stay close to family who had also booked a guesthouse nearby."
Chapel rest is more spacious than the outside would suggest and liked the quirkiness of the property. It was well equipped and clean with modern facilities. Backing out of car space was tricky but I had assistance from family, but at least we had a car space at peak season!
-
"The parking space is a little tight especially when there are guests in the adjoining apartment."
There did appear to be some DVD's missing from the drawer under the television and player. Otherwise this was a pleasant place to stay with good facilities.
-
"Great flat in excellent location."
Very clean, spacious and well equipped. Only things I would add are that the main bedroom really needs blackout blinds on the two velux windows - it was super bright at 4 am. Worth noting that there is no freezer - I should have read the listing more carefully as I arrived with a number of frozen meals. Parking is slightly tight but manageable.
-
"Lovely house,we did have a couple of problems, couldnt get tv to work and leak from bath but it was dealt with professionaly, couple of pots needed rewashing had food stuck to them think thats probably down to dishwasher and not being checked when put away, other than that every where was very clean."
No jacuzzi bath.We had a lovely holiday,Bowness is a lovely place to stay.
-
"Excellently positioned property and really nice inside - the pictures don’t do it justice."
The only reason the comfort score is lower is because the main bedroom has two huge velux windows with no blackout blinds. Therefore, the room is sooooo BRIGHT at 4am that it wakes you up and spoils your sleep in what is a very comfortable and cosy bed. Other than that we couldn’t fault it and would most definitely stay again.

"Kitchen utensils - a vegetable steamer, a food blender - these would be so useful for this survivor of throat cancer left with serious swallowing difficulties."
-
"Our stay in Chapel Rest, Bowness on Windermere was a great success for our family group."
The accommodation was of a high standard, clean, central to all amenities and light and airy. Being down a quiet side street with easy access to all Bowness and Windermere has to offer, a bus stop on the main road, free parking outside the door this spacious accommodation was good value for money. Definitely one to return to.

"Extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped house in a great location."
And the selection of games provided was great too!
-
"Good location everything was in walking distance, the Cottage was comfortable and was good to have off road parking would recommend."
-
"The holiday did not start on a good note as it was difficult getting in the cottage as the description was possibly confusing (for myself)."
Please bear in mind that the entrance to the property is from the rear and we stood in the front for half an hour trying to call up SKYES who had a different colored door listed on their side. Other than the above everything was great. I think that the photos do not do justice to the space and cleanliness of the property, loads of space for our little one to wander around on both the levels. My parents first holiday experience was a good one :-) Good view from the bedroom facing the lake Windermere, the place had most of the things we needed in the kitchen area. Very close to high street, the CO OP is just around the corner and other shops are under 10 minute walk, the lake is not too far as well. Overall i would say i was pleasantly surprised by the property as i was not expecting a great deal just looking at the photos. The place will look even better if the old sofas are replaced with some newer ones. Another thing to note is that the property is on upper level, the lower level is a different property.

"A nice cottage in a good location."
Unfortunately the "Luxury Accomodation" was let down by a number of minor faults. * The ensuite toilet did not flush properly. We eventually discovered you have to rapidly pump the handle 4 or 5 times to generate a flush. * One of the bedside lights in the master bedroom did not work. We were unable to locate any spare bulbs. *We had to rewash the majority of the crockery and cutlery as it was caked in food. ( Caused , I suspect by the fact that the dishwasher tablet regularly stuck in the dispenser and nobody bothering to check whether the plates etc were clean.)

"The cottage had more space than we had expected from seeing the photographs."
It was situated in the ideal location as we had come for the great north swim.Bedrooms were very comfy & away from any noisy areas so quiet night sleep. It was a very rainy weekend so we were able to keep warm on our return from the swim & the kitchen is fantastic for family eating followed by relaxing in the spacious lounge. Having that allocated parking space right outside was brilliant & we were also able to park the other side of the cottage as there were spaces & we made sure we were not blocking anyone. Also there was a public car park over the road . Location great for the ferry & at night loads of eating places & takeaways. TV was great & your leaflets from the local eating places gave us a head start.
