  • "We had a lovely week at Craig Cottage, the cottage had everything you could need and is in a perfect location, the only downside were the steps at the front which were dangerously slippy when frosty ."

The property

Resting just paces away from the bustling town centre of Bowness-On-Windermere in Cumbria is Craig Cottage, a fabulous Victorian mid-terrace cottage.

Offering a woodburning stove for the chillier months and a delightful garden for the warmer months, while being within the Lake District National Park and within easy reach of local amenities, this property is suited to a family or group of friends looking to get out and explore.

On arrival at the cottage, take the steps down through the garden and make your way into the cottage.

Enter the hall and hang your coats before making your way into the kitchen/diner for a cup of tea.

The kitchen/diner provides all the necessary appliances for the chef of the group to concoct mouth-watering meals for the family to enjoy together at the dining table, as well as a handy dishwasher to help with the cleaning up.

From here, settle down for the evening in the sitting room which hosts a stylish décor and furnishings so you can sink into the sofa to watch the Smart TV while the woodburning stove warms the space.

As the evening draws to a close, head upstairs to your sleeping quarters for the trip; the first floor hosts two king-size bedrooms with TVs, perfect for those lazy mornings, and a bunk room which is ideal for children.

Please note these bunk beds are only suitable for children due to the size.

Completing the interior of the cottage is a sleek bathroom, where you can prepare for your day in style or choose to soak in a bubble bath after an adventurous day.

Outside, savour a glass of wine in those balmy summer evenings in the garden; bordered with flora planters, the picture-perfect garden is a lovely social hub in the warmer months.

Give the chef of your group a break from cooking and head out to Urban Food House, where you will find a globally inspired menu, perhaps take full advantage of the offerings in the area; there are numerous eateries to choose from including Italian, Thai and contemporary cuisines.

Literature lovers will delight in an afternoon at the World of Beatrix Potter, home to Peter Rabbit and friends, before making your way to the charming 17th century cottage, Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter now owned and ran by the National Trust.

Thrill seekers of the group may want to spend the day with Lake District Adventuring, exploring the varying terrains and heading out onto the waters, but if you prefer to discover your surroundings unguided, be sure to head up to Stock Ghyll Force to find the magnificent 70ft cascading waterfall.

For a more peaceful day of walking, within easy reach are Holehird Gardens, home to a charming array of flora.

Slightly further afield, venture into the charming town of Ambleside for plenty more walking and cycling opportunities and a good selection of pubs, cafés and restaurants to stop at before heading back to the cottage.

Craig Cottage is a wonderful base for a memorable holiday with your loved ones.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
