"A great location, with a wonderful view of the Lake."
Inside the property was lovely and comfortable. I enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen. I hope to revisit next year.
-
"Fantastic place and location."
It is clear care has been taken with quality of furnishings and decor with a nice eye for design elements. We loved it and had a lovely and relaxed stay. Will be back soon for sure! Thank you for the nice touch with the fresh flower arrangements from the stunning garden

"Very well equipped property."

"Had a lovely warm welcome from Rosamund, the owner."
The house was extremely comfortable with modern conveniences and extremely comfortable beds! Was central to Bowness on Windermere but also a very quiet position considering how busy the town was a short distance away. Lastly the view of lake Windermere from the lounge, verandah and bedrooms was spectacular! A very enjoyable stay.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Harrison Stickle."
The property was immaculately clean and very well kept. The photographs of the property and views, although inviting, do not do full justice to the actual experience. We have already recommended this property to friends and family. The location is perfect for local shops and restaurants as well as its proximity to the waterfront. If the walk home up the hill is daunting, there are regular bus services with stops outside the property itself. The facilities within HS are more than enough for a very comfortable and memorable stay. We decided the beds were the best we’ve ever slept in and the property the best we have rented in the Lake District. We found a broom outside which we used to brush puddles from the balcony so that we could enjoy as much time outside as possible. One highlight was opening the bedroom curtains to see a deer grazing on the lawn! I did leave comments for the lovely owner (who we met on our arrival) including a question about the location of the DVD player - we found lots of films to watch but couldn’t find the player! This certainly didn’t affect our enjoyment and we would certainly stay again. We were a party of three and see the property is no longer available to be booked by four people which is a shame as we have friends who we would love to share this experience with and the property is certainly large enough.

"2nd visit in 3 months."
Fabulous property, stunning views, can’t wait to visit again.

The cottage was well situated for all amenities and cottage it’s self was really well presented and comfortable with good views over the lake

"This was our fourth visit as we really like this property."
It is very clean and we enjoy the gesture of small vases of flowers from the garden. The location is perfect for us as the views are wonderful and the house is close to all amenities. We feel very much relaxed and at home at Harrison Stickle.
-
"We can’t praise this cottage enough, it has everything."
So convenient for buses, restaurants etc but quietly tucked away with spectacular views. This was our second visit and we would recommend it to anyone.
-
"Another great stay at Harrison stickle this is our second time staying it’s in a great position just a two minute walk to the heart of Bowness."
The property has fantastic views over the lake the beds in both bedrooms are very comfortable the sofas in the upstairs living room are a bit uncomfortable probably need renewing the smart TV is a better size for the property.overall we had a great week and would definitely book again.

"Thank you for a wonderful stay, the cottage is beautiful and comfortable."
We appreciated the little welcome package of tea, coffee, sugar and local fudge and mint cake, it was yummy! The site is perfectly situated for easy access to the local shops and restaurants as well as the jetty, whether you have a car or not it's easy to get around the whole lake. We particularly enjoyed a pub restaurant nearby called the 'Westmorland' for dog friendly pub grub, for a more upper class experience we'd recommend the Italian restaurant 'Trattoria' and the 'Urban Food House' and for a special quirky meal out try the 'Magic Roundabout'. We had mixed weather but the cottage was so nice we didn't mind spending time there when it was raining because of the fantastic views of the lake and the board games and jigsaws were a nice touch. Only minor criticisms were the balcony door was quite stiff and my old mum had some difficulty opening and shutting it. Also the balcony would benefit from having an awning covering from the rain as it builds up in puddles and we didn't want to tread wet stains on the nice carpet. It would also be nice to have a lock on the en suite bathroom too. Apart from those little things (which were trivial) it was an incredible stay and we'll definitely plan on booking again in the future. Thank you for everything. :)

"Fantastic view from balcony, spacious, beautifully decorated and well-appointed property with very comfortable beds."
We really appreciated the welcome pack, delicious cake and tea supplies to get started. Would love to stay again.
-
"Beautiful comfortable home with spectacular views."
Beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept in. We appreciated the welcome extras of coffee milk biscuits and jam. Great location for exploring the Lake District. Easy parking. Just perfect we look forward to returning again to Harrison Stickle.

"Absolutely stunning."
-
"This is the second time we have stayed in this property."
The location is perfect, the view at the back, stunning, the combination of open plan kitchen and living space is thoughtful and extremely comfortable. We loved the underfloor heating and fireplace and parking facilities and the extra gym membership (a lovely bonus). We left you with some extra logs, fireflighter, smokless coal, some more dishwasher tablets and hopefully a well kept property! Thank you kindly.
-
"A delightful property."
The owners have thought of everything - including a lovely welcome pack. Everything is bright, clean, modern but with the added bonus of an open fire. The views are spectacular and the bus stop (one minute walk) means you can ditch the car and explore Ambleside, Grassmere and Keswick. A good, reasonably priced restaurant opposite bus stop. What more could you want? An outstanding property.

"Lovely cottage in a great location, lovely fluffy towels and comfy beds and pillows, however we found that some of the facilities fell short of previous stays elsewhere, both in the UK and overseas."
The lounge is quite big and yet the TV is very small (the ones in the bedrooms even smaller) with only the very basic programmes and the sofas are extremely uncomfortable with hard arms and cold leather. We were surprised that there was not a microwave, there was plenty of space for one. The beds, though wonderfully comfortable are very high, at 5’5” my legs did not touch the floor, not in itself a problem, but the bedside tables supplied are very small and you had to reach down to put on or get off anything off there which meant that a bedside lamp was impractical, in fact there were no bedside lamps, a great annoyance when getting cosy in bed to have a read before sleep to find that you have to get out of bed to turn off the wall lights which are too far from and to high from the beds. Moreover, should you need to get out of bed during the night, finding the wall light is extremely difficult in the pitch black, not forgetting that the bedrooms are at the back of the property facing wonderful but totally unlit views, fraught with problems there and a possible hazard. The blind in the en-suite had a broken “pull” string which I discovered had been knotted together when it came undone in my hand causing me to stand on a stool so that I could make what repair I could, also an instruction that the blind could be lowered from the top rather than raised from the bottom would have been useful as I’d never seen this before and it wasn’t until I noticed there was a “pull” string at both sides of the blind. As I first said, this is a lovely property which we feel for the price of a stay is let down by some of its facilities or lack of them. Parking is great, and we would stay again as overall we enjoyed our stay, atrocious weather notwithstanding.
-
"Thoroughly enjoyed our week in this lovely cottage."
It is extremely comfortable, and has wonderful views over Lake Windermere . The weather was not very good, which made it all the more important to stay in a cottage with high standards, and Harrison Stickle is such a cottage. We would highly recommend it, and hope to return in the future.

"Great property in a great location just a few minutes walk to the shops in bowness."
The owner was doing her final checks when we got there lovely lady and the house was immaculate also the owners son came to sort the central heating out and when he had sorted the problem built us a fire till the heating got going so would like to thank him especially as it was a Sunday he came out. The house has beautiful views from upstairs and downstairs bedrooms plenty of parking. Thanks for a lovely holiday. PS thanks to Julia from lakelovers for dealing with our problem so quickly have been booking my holidays with lakelovers for many years and would recommend them to anyone kind regards Gary.

"We have been to many of your amazing Sykes holiday cottages over the last 3 years but this has to be our favourite!"
!! WOW!!!! The view is absolutely spectacular!!! The location is perfect for being so close to Lake Windermere, the marina and for fantastic restaurants and shops which are within a 5 minute walking distance. The location is also great for exploring the Lake District as it is so central. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished/interior designed and so comfortable especially the king size bed!! We had a wonderful night's sleep everynight. It is extremely well equipped too! Short of nothing. We arrived and had a lovely welcome basket and beautiful hand picked flowers from the fabulous garden in every room. We will definitely be back to Harrison Stickle! Jane

"Hi, We have been to Harrison Stickle cottage before, in 2023, so knew what to expect, as we so enjoyed our previous stay, it is a lovely property, with a fantastic view."
Unfortunately our 2024 stay was not so good:- 1 The general property and garden maintenance was not so good. 2 The gutters on the porch and roof at the front of the house were over flowing and pouring water over the steps on the porch. This meant on a couple of occasions, we got soaked just getting into the house. 3 There are no instructions (as far as we could see) for recycling. 4 The brown marks streaked down the front/porch area of the house suggest the leaking gutters have been like that for some time. 5 The gutter to the rear of the house overflowed, causing water to splash to the ground outside of the bedroom, all through the night! 6 The balcony was a bit of a mess, it looked dirty as the steelwork was covered in green mold and slippy! The owner warned us about the state of the balcony, she said it was rust. I cleaned a portion of the steel decking and that worked. All it needed was about 30mins with a power washer!!! that was very disappointing. 7 The door mat outside of the patio doors onto the balcony needs to be renewed, it had small plants growing out of it and it was pushed to one side. 8 The steel decking on the patio has a number of dips in its surface, causing water to seriously pool and that causes the green mold. A few drill holes would allow the water to drain away and the steel deck to dry out. 8 The wooden furniture was a bit of a mess, with paint flaking off the table and chairs. 9 The garden was very overgrown compared to last year. 10 The stonework/steps on the garden paths were crumbling/loose and displaced, making it a bit tricky and a bit dangerous for some! 11 There was no key (we were told that it was lost) to the secure bikeshed and the use of this bike storage is advertised in the brochure! 12 There was still no freezer, (we mentioned this last year) on the first day the owner mentioned that a small freezer would be set up, but that never happened. We never got any more feedback that week regarding the freezer. 13 There is very little storage for general food items in the kitchen. I hope this helps, kind regards, Mr A Garrett and party (26/8/2023)

"The property proved most satisfactory!"
It is obvious that the owners went out of their way to make sure that any need is provided for. The cottage is located in a great place it is beautifully furnished and very cosy. Lakelovers proved to be unsatisfactory in their handling of our booking. Their statement "Please be aware that we are unable to accommodate early check in or late check out requests" is unacceptable since there are times when some flexibility is needed. A day before the end of my stay, I requested one hour delay in the checkout time. I received no reply

"We had a wonderful stay at the house, it was extremely clean and beautifully furnished, and the bedding was so comfortable."
We met the owner on arrival and she kindly brought us some local chutney and kendal mint cake. We couldn't figure out where to put the bins when leaving, so some info on that might be helpful for future guests. Also there was no lighter for the gas hob, but we found some matches by the fire. We absolutely loved sitting on the balcony and watching the sunset in the evenings. Peaceful home, fantastic location. Thanks!
-
"A real home from home with fantastic views."
The house is so quiet, yet near all the amenities.Would love to come again.
-
"We had a lovely weekend!"
The house is so nice and well designed and had everything we needed. The view is amazing and despite it being very close to the centre of bowness it is so quiet! Sitting on the balcony looking over the field and the lake is relaxing pure. Just what we needed. Thank you!

"This is a fabulous property with amazing views."
It is so peaceful but only a few minutes walk into Bowness. There is a bus stop right outside which we took to Grasmere. A lot of thought has been put into the interior of the property. There was everything you would need a real home from home. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the showers hot and powerful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property and would definately go back again.
-
"Such lovely property in a great location."
Ample free parking and only a 5 min walk into the very heart of Bowness on Windemere. We had a fab time, would definitely book again.
-
"We had the most fantastic few days in this property, the views from the main living area are fabulous and we were very lucky with the weather."
It's very warm and comfortable with lots of storage and extras, everything you need for a holiday. It's within easy walking distance to Bowness with great restaurants and bars. We definitely recommend this and we look forward to returning in the future.

"Fantastic property, would happily return."

"This was our second visit here , clean and well equipped."
Very comfortable beds ,good location with great views.will look to stay here in future
So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, We hope to welcome you again. Property Owner
-
"Great location, close to lots of restaurants in both Bowness and Windermere."
Very efficiently heated throughout given the outside temperature was around 9 degrees. Excellent open plan kitchen and living area on the first floor, only disappointment was that in such a good standard of self catering accommodation there was no microwave. King size beds in both bedrooms were extremely comfortable, luxurious quilts and pillows. Parking for 2 cars at the front door. Front elevation needs a lick of paint as it gives the wrong initial impression. A little bit of tidying up the balcony and back garden would have been worth investing however this was in late February so no real qualms. Access to the spa was a real bonus. Would certainly consider staying again.
We are sorry you didn't find the microwave, but glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise, we hope to welcome you again, Property Owner
-
"This is a lovely property, bit bigger than we needed but so hard to find something nice for just 2 people."
Easy access off the main road, so really easy to get to. Easy walking distance to shops, and probably only 20 minutes walk to Lakeside for the boats. Glorious views, and we spotted a nice little group of deer in the field below one morning. Nice comfy bed, and fab shower in ensuite. Open fire was fab, and told made the stay. Would happily go back.

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, in this excellent property."
So much so, that we have booked a week there next November.

"Although the property is lovely with a great view very much as described, our holiday was left in ruins due to the building noise next door ."
Fortunately we had a lovely weekend but were awoken at 8 am on Monday morning to really loud banging and then what sounded like heavy plant machinery breaking bedrock right next to the property which went on all morning until about 1 pm when we vacated the property as we couldn’t stand any more of it. The owner had dropped by on the Friday evening we arrived and apologised for the building works and drilling over which she had no control. We had no idea of the extent of this, it was intolerable and we understood from the owner it could last until 8pm. We had looked forward to a quiet and relaxing holiday but by lunchtime on Monday our heads were ringing. Lake lovers offered to relocate us and we spent hours driving around looking at properties we didn’t like which were either up steep hills on a busy corner with access issues or miles from where we wanted to stay. The area was very busy so I suppose all the nicer properties were already filled. We reluctantly gave up and went home. We had no prior warning of the building works and would have definitely cancelled and rearranged our holiday if we had known. I have noticed that a comment has been added to the listing now at the very bottom and wish it had been there when we booked or if at least we had been contacted with the option of rearranging even at the last minute. I guess it would be hard for the agency to give prior information on the extent of the works when the owner has no control over the building works or the noise but I would have liked to have been contacted beforehand and we could have rearranged and rebooked our holiday.

"Really lovely accommodation in an excellent location."
-
"A fabulous cottage which deserves a 5 star rating."
We couldn’t fault our stay and had an enjoyable holiday with friends.
-
"The only negative was the bath towels were a bit smaller than normal."
Lovely welcoming owner. The view from the upstairs was to die for. A very enjoyable stay.
-
"Third time we have story here."
We are never disappointed. Great house great location
-
"This was our second trip to this property."
Mostly we love the location. Close to the town and beautiful views. Our only disappointment this year was the pillows. On our last visit I appreciated the quality of the bedding however the pillows have become thin and in my opinion now need to be replaced. The house is very clean, adequately stocked and furnished. We also appreciated the gesture of vases fresh flowers from the garden.

The property was very comfortable and well equipped, spotless clean . The beds were so comfortable we would definitely book here again .

"Harrison Stickle was perfect in every way, location, amenities, unmatched views."
Hope to stay there again next time we are back in UK. We highly recommend this holiday home.
-
"This property was ideally situated."
Only about 10min walk from all amenities yet in the most peaceful spot with a view of Windermere and the most beautiful sunsets. The property itself had all the home comforts with nothing to fault although a bbq may be a nice addition.

"Wonderful stay at Harrison Stickle!"
(6th-13th May 2022) Set back from the road and very peaceful, with fantastic views from the 1st floor balcony looking out to Lake Windermere. Great location between Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere, both within easy walking distance. Lovely to meet our host too. We will be back! Many Thanks Dean & Tamara
This is so lovely. Thank you. I am glad you have enjoyed some spring sunshine and I hope you had a very safe journey back to Guildford. It was lovely Property Owner

"An amazing view from a very comfortable and stylish house."
A very convenient location . Little touches such as luxury soaps , an Easter gift and good quality coffee were greatly appreciated . We will definitely be back again !
-
"A lovely stay at a well equipped place with the most beautiful view."
Lovely comfy beds, nice and warm with an open fire. The owner was helpful and accommodating when we had additional requests. The only thing I felt was missing was an information pack on how to use the TV, heating, wifi etc etc - this might have been useful to help us settle in.
-
"The cottage is very comfortable overall, warm and very well equipped."
The reason for the lower comfort rating is because we both found the sofas uncomfortable. The beds were very comfortable. The views over to Harrison Stickle were a real bonus. it is an incredibly quiet location, but very convenient to get around by bus as the bus stop is at the end of the entrance lane. We had a really enjoyable stay. The only surprising thing was that there were no cleaning cloths provided.
-
"Very enjoyable stay at Harrison Stickle."
Excellent views. We will be booking a return visit. Thank you.
-
"We had hoped the house had been upgraded since our last visit, especially as your listing states it has a log burner!"
However there is still the coal fire in situ. The TV size is a joke - we have larger desk top monitors. We have had less abrasive sandpaper than the towels made available to us. The sofas need replacing - they are incredibly uncomfortable. Replacing cushion covers is not particularly reinvesting in the property. We have stayed here several times over the past 4 years but can honestly say the standard of accommodation has slipped during this time.
-
"The property is in a good position with a distant view of the lake and it is very easy to walk into town."
The general facilities within the property are perfectly fine, it would be so easy to make this a top notch property but assume the owners aren't interested. We found the upstairs living accommodation to be cold and extremely dark, even after re-siting lamps etc we still weren't able to comfortably read and cooking was also difficult. It is not possible to change the heating timer so you are stuck with when the owner feels you need the heating, unfortunately this didn't coincide with when we wanted the heating on! I am sure the problems with heating and light are not issues during the warmer, summer months, there are windows to three sides of the living area so it is probably lovely in the summer. The towels are embarrassing for a property to leave out, I wouldn't even send those we were supplied with to the dogs home. The plates and glasses were odds and ends and barely sufficient for four people. Together with the lack of welcome note of any kind we were made to feel like unwelcome, untrusted guests. Shame as this could be such a lovely place with hardly any effort.
-
"Harrison Stickle is an ideal location as your are in the town but feel you are in the country as its so quiet - the view is amazing."
High praise for your cleaners as Harrison Stickle was lovely and warm when we arrived and absolutely spotless
-
"Disappointed that the underfloor heating in the en-suite bathroom and bedroom couldn’t be resolved, also that the shower unit in the second bathroom had a drainage problem which was reported but unresolved."
We couldn’t use it because of flooding. Lighting inadequate in the main living areas. We also felt that every day needed items were not supplied e.g. baking and roasting trays.. No safety mat in the showers ,soap dish would be useful. These issues apart, the property is very well situated very spacious and has outstanding views.
-
"Fantastic view from lounge, very clean property, good access to the main areas of Bowness and Windemere."
lounge seating not very comfortable, could have done with another chair and a small set of drawers in the main bedroom. All in all a very good holiday experience.
-
"We found Harrison Stickle the perfect place to stay."
