  • "Lovely place and we had ample space for little ones to run around."

Well thought of and well equipped. Only thing that let it down was cleanliness. There was lots of dust and dirt and cobwebs. Just needs a little more TLC.

  • "We had a lovely stay in Miyanli, it was very clean and warm on arrival."

Everything we needed in the kitchen was there and upstairs the bedrooms were of a good size and very comfortable. The house itself is in a lovely quiet setting with beautiful gardens surrounded by woods and it was lovely to hear the owls at night, As per previous reviews the utility room was a bit cold and damp but we didn't need to use it as we had a dry week but do understand this is being addressed. Bowness town is a lovely base with good pubs and restaurants but it is a steep hill back to the house if walking.

  • "Miyanli is an old house that is in a good location."

The property is dated and there were a few issues and only one was resolved. The utility room has mould all over the walls, damp and the ceiling is falling down. I have pictures that have been sent to Sykes. The kitchen. Smells of damp. Only one shower works at a time so taking ages for people to get showered/bath. The tv didn’t work for 2 days - this was rectified. O have spoken to Sykes and they are still advertising this property and they did not advise me of these problems when we booked and there are now similar comments. When we are leaving a council application was erected seeking planning to knock down part of the property where it is damp so both parties are aware of this situation and we were not advised. The owners /sykes are not prepared to offer any financial compensation. Do not rent this property if you want showering or bathing - it will take ages for the whole family and if you have any health issues it’s a no go. Great location but won’t be using Skye’s again as we weren’t informed. !!!

Sorry to be slow in responding to your feedback, we have been away. We are sorry you had these problems and thank you for your feedback. I suspect one issue is there was a LOT of rain before your visit - hence the issue with the utility room. We have plans in place to resolve the utility room, once we can have a period of access to the house. The house has been occupied most of the summer; guests have given us positive feedback. Once there is a quieter period over the winter months we will be taking feedback and suggestions on board to make improvements. Property Owner

  • "The property is dated and poorly maintained, the bathroom door and downstairs toilet doors stick and are difficult to lock and open having been a frequent visitor to this property we have reported this on most occasions and is still continues not to be rectified."

There was a leak in the bootroom and buckets were in place. The house smell damp and the curtains are mouldy and there are signs of damp in the bedrooms. For the cost of the holiday I would have expected a higher spec and presentation. Location and size of property and the garden are all positives for the property.

May need to be clearer about location as it is up a very very steep hill which was impossible for my husband to climb. Tv signal not great either however did sort after a lot of hard work. Overall great stay though the house is beautiful typical Lake District garden is lovely.

We would recommend staying here. We utilised the washing machine and powder that was left at the property. Only negatives were, we were only supplied 6 towels when we booked for 8, our other guests had to use the smaller hand towels provided, and the freezer was unusable, as it was frozen closed. It’s a steep walk up the hill from town.

Thank you for your feedback, it is nice to hear that you enjoyed your time and the gardens. We take your comments on board regarding the towels, and the freezer. We hope to welcome you back. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely spacious house."

We were five adults and we never felt on top of each other. The garden was very pretty with lots of chairs to sit out. It is a wonderful location a short walk into Bowness. I would stress it was a VERY steep hill up from the village that might not be suitable for all to walk. The only problem we encountered was getting hold of the agents to report a problem. I rang the number given and was holding for over 30 minutes and gave up. I then emailed but it took the best part of the day to get back to me and was too late to rectify the issue until the next day. It was however then dealt with very efficiently. Overall a very good place to stay

  • "Booked last min for couples, for a 50th birthday celebration."

A few days before we were due to arrive I reviewed our booking to ask some questions on what equipment was in the kitchen and it was the first time I saw some negative reviews - which did concern me. However, we found no issues with the property and it was perfect for this occasion. Its a bit dated but that just added to the charm of the house. Great location, even if its up hill on the way home. All the rooms were big and there was enough utensils in the kitchen. The fridge is only a standard size, so people need to be aware if they are a large group and going for more than a couple of days. We bought an electric cool box with us which helped with 7 adults (kept the fizz cold). The showers were lovely and powerful as well. Would suggest using the boot room to come and go as the front door was hard to open. The only complaints would be that the twin room that can be converted to a king was not make up in advance, even though we had requested this and it was also noted on our booking, but someone did come the following morning to do this, so it was no big deal. Bring toilet roll as there was only 1 roll in each toilet so we did have to buy a pack which we did not expect to do - but that was it - all in all it was a great house and we would come again (just wish we could bring the dog - but its no pets).

Many thanks for your positive comments and suggestions. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Since your comments, we have added a second fridge and topped up the kitchen utensils. Regarding storing boots/waterproofs, there are 2 options - the entrance lobby has space and coat hooks, while there is also lots of space in the utility room. Sorry the king-size/twin link bed wasnt made right for your arrival. Thanks again! Property Owner

  • "Extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of the property."

It is supposed to be thoroughly cleaned in line with COVID but it was definitely not. My daughter and I had to clean the kitchen for us to use it - definitely not the standard I would expect. The house sleeps 8 people and we brought quite a lot of food with is - the fridge was nowhere near suitable, far too small. The microwave hadn’t been cleaned either with food residue stuck to the roof! There were only 7 dessert/cereal dishes too! The drawers in the bedrooms haven’t seen a duster for months! The bannister rail was filthy. We had two 80+ year olds in the party and nowhere in the property description does it state it is a steep hill of approximately 500 meters up to the property from Bowness. The description doesn’t mention the ‘access only’ driveway and the awkwardness of parking 2 big cars. There is only 1 standard outdoor bin for all rubbish which again isn’t really enough. The plumbing is noisy and requires attention it reverberates through the house and we are still trying to find the Jack and Jill bathroom!!! We go on a self catering family holiday every year and the only time we have had issues with the property is on the 2 holidays booked through yourselves in the Lake District - makes it hard for us to recommend to others. On the plus side the location for those who are able and fit and love the outdoors is fantastic. All in all the property just needs a good clean, a bit more attention to detail and some TLC and it would be fantastic.

So sorry there were niggly problems; thanks for feedback. We have asked Lakelovers to comment on cleaning/bin emptying, but we believe these issues are now resolved. Deep clean carried out. Parking, yes, 2 places available on the drive/by the garage. Also fine to park on the road, adjacent to the house. The walk on the road up from Bowness is steep in places, hopefully the views and garden make it worth it Lakelovers Response: Sorry to hear there were issues with the cleanliness. We clean this property on behalf of the owner and had we been made aware that there were certain aspects of the cleanliness you were not happy with, we would have immediately reattended to rectify these issues. • "We have visited this property on numerous occasions due to its size and location which meets our needs but we are disappointed with the general upkeep and repair of the property."

The home continues to be damp in places on the bedroom walls. There seems to be an airlock in the water system so each time the toilet is flushed there is a horrible noise throughout the house, so using the toilet in the night was difficult as it wakes up the household. The property was advertised with a dryer but this was not working and appeared to have not been working for some time. We have a child with disabilities in our party and he needs frequent changes of clothes so not having a dryer (as advertised) was very problematic. The bathroom door still remains very stiff and it needs to be lifted slightly when closing so the lock works. Not all our party were able to do this so it caused privacy difficulties. There was a leak to one of the radiators so we reported this and it was fixed promptly.

Thank you for your feedback. It helps us make improvements, so you and your family can enjoy your visits more. The damp was linked to a problem with one of the chimneys, that has been addressed now. The noisy plumbing pipe vibration has been fixed too. There is a new tumble dryer installed in the utility room. The lock on the family bathroom has also been upgraded. Property Owner

  • "The Bin (outside) was full when we arrived and the next collection was the following Thursday."

This was insufficient for the rubbish generated by 8 in a week if it has been empty. Otherwise the property was great.

  • "The dryer didn't work."

Some of the bedroom drawers had hairs in them. The bath wasn't very clean. Some of the kitchen cupboards were quite dirty. There were insufficient tumbler-style glasses. But it's a good size house, a beautiful garden in a good location.

So sorry to be slow in responding to your feedback and thanks for your comments. New dryer and extra kitchen crockery/cutlery etc added. Other guests kindly commented on a couple of plumbing problems, which have all now been addressed too. So glad you enjoyed the big rooms/house size/the gardens. Lots of guests love the location, 400 m into town, yet very quiet, lovely woodland and walks on the doorsetp. Property Owner
