"The Stables was beautiful, cozy, and well equipped."
The flapjacks were delicious and very welcome after a long journey. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay and didn’t want to leave. Thank you
-
"The stables was a lovely cottage and we would absolutely return."
The location is wonderful and the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

"We had a fantastic stay."
Photos absolutely don’t do this cottage justice - it’s beautiful, so cute and cozy! It’s very well equipped, we have everything we need. The flapjacks, milk and Prosecco were a lovely treat. The flapjacks were perfect for our Three Peaks Challenge. Amazing location for the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Our only issue, which was no fault of the cottage whatsoever, was our neighbour. One of us parked in the parking space for next door, it was an honest mistake, we genuinely didn’t realise. As soon as we pulled up, the man next door came out straight away and was quite rude to us, after having just done a 11.5 hour hike. There was no need for it at all, he could have politely advised we’d parked in the wrong place. We of course apologised and moved the car straight away, but it just caused unnecessary upset. Other than that, we had an amazing stay, and would definitely stay again when we do the challenge again!
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you found The Stables cute and cosy and had everything you needed for your stay. I am sorry to hear you had a problem with parking. There is ample parking for 2 vehicles opposite The Stables, however if you had let me know there would be more vehicles with your party I could have directed you to where you could have found additional parking, without having to park outside our neighbour's house. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

"A Qurcky cosy bolt hole ideally situated for walking any or all of the three peasks of Yorkshire."
Well equiped with loads of room for 4 people. Parking for one car is right opposite the cottage. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get away and walk the beautiful Yorkshire dales.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you would recommend The Stables to anyone wanting to get away to explore the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Property Owner

"We really couldn’t fault anything."
The Stables was perfect for our needs and ideally placed to do the Three Peaks Challenge. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, warm and cosy. We had clear instructions on where to collect the key and how to leave things as we left. One couple from our two are hoping to come back again one Christmas when possible. One way or another we will come back to this lovely cottage.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear the cottage was perfect for your needs. We hope to welcome you back to The Stables in the future and hope your friends get the opportunity to come back one Christmas. Property Owner

"The Stables at Horton in Ribblesdale is a lovely property and is ideally located for exploring Ribblesdale and the Three Peaks area."
It is clean and comfortable. Good-sized bedrooms and bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped with crockery, cutlery, and glasses, but is lacking in pots and pans and what is there is worn. Some pans have loose handles. The knife block could also do with updating. Most of the knives are nearly blunt. An update of new items would be a good addition. During our stay, there was a powerful drain smell in the kitchen, the far corner between the window and the range, and the shower. One of the selling points for the property is a view of Pen Y Ghent. Sadly, the view is obscured by trees on the other side of the beck, from both downstairs and upstairs. So, there isn't a view at all. These are not criticisms just observations. The Stables is a great cottage. We walked most days directly from the cottage as there are many fine walks to be had without the need to drive.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you think The Stables is a great cottage and were able to walk directly from the cottage most days. As there are so many great walks directly from the village. Property Owner

"Such a lovely property."
It was immaculate upon arrival. We even had some home made flap jack and biscuits for the dog which was wonderful. It had everything we needed. Location was perfect for the start of the 3 peaks challenge and the view from the windows over the hills was amazing! We had plenty of space for the dog and two children and our 1 year old loved paddling in the little river in front of the property. I couldn’t recommend this enough.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear The Stables had everything you needed for your stay and there was plenty of space for your family. The location is great if you are planning to do the 3 peaks and Pen-Y-Ghent can be seen from the cottage. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner
-
"Clean and comfortable."
Quiet location but perfectly situated for walking. The milk, flapjacks and prosecco were welcome on arrival.

-
"Beautiful place!"
plenty of room with everything we needed. Very spacious and comfortable in a great location! Fantastic hosts, I called to get the sofa bed made up (which I should have done before arriving) but this was no trouble and all sorted within 20mins! We climbed Pen Y Ghent, the stables is at the bottom of the trial. We took short drive into settle for a takeaway and ate at the gold lion the 2nd night after our walk (food was average). We would stay here again
Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear you had everything you needed and would stay at The Stables in future. Property Owner

"Authentically converted stone-built stables with a lot of original features."
Just off the main road but very quiet when I was there in December. Significantly bigger than it appears from the photos. Based on mezzanine floors so unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems.
Thank you for your feedback on The Stables. In order to keep as many original features as possible the cottage accommodation is on a range of levels with small flights of steps leading to the different areas. This is part of the charm of the property. Property Owner

"We absolutely loved our stay and found the Stables charming and spacious for the most part (there were a few areas where taller visitors need to be wary)."
The guest experience was well thought out and the feeling on arrival was very welcoming to both humans and canines alike. The location also provides convenient parking and stunning views. St Oswald's Church to the rear of the property is very charming, and you may even meet the very friendly Vicar. My only slightly negative observations are: There were a few cobwebs, particularly in the shower, and considerable amounts of visible dust above the kitchen cabinets when ascending the stairs. Therefore I feel it could be just a little cleaner. Guests may need to be prepared for noisy hill walkers passing by at 6am if you visit in the peak season. Overall, I would highly recommend The Stables and really enjoyed staying there.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you loved your stay at The Stables. We can only apologise about the cobwebs in the shower, but we do seemed to be plagued with prolific spiders at the moment. Unfortunately we can not do anything about the enthusiastic 3 peaks walkers setting off on their challenge as they seem unaware not everyone is taking part. On the plus side it is usually only one morning a week. We hope to welcome you back to The Stables in the future. Property Owner
-
"Beautiful well kept cottage, equipped with everything you need for a home from home break."
Rooms were immaculate, fresh towels, comfortable beds, stunning setting. The pictures on the sykes website do not do this property justice. We met the owners when we were there (they are lovely) and they said they have provided new pics last November but they still haven't been updated. Would stay here again in a heartbeat
Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear you had everything you needed to feel the cottage was home from home. We hope to welcome you back to The Stables in the future. Property Owner

"The Stables was such a beautiful unusual cottage, and we all loved it."
The cottage was tastefully decorated with stunning original features, which made it very cosy and comfy, with lovely views of Pent-y-Ghent. The welcome goodies were appreciated as our journey was long, especially the Prosecco as it was my Birthday. We would definitely visit again, and recommend it to anyone who would like explore the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your birthday whilst staying at The Stables. The cottage does have a good view of Pen-y-Ghent. We hope to welcome back in the future. Property Owner

"What a wonderful cottage with the most scenic views straight on to Pen Y Ghent."
So many things to do around and about that we will need to come back. The cottage was so clean and the owner left welcoming gifts that were much appreciated. The description is very accurate but the photos do not do it justice. I can’t recommend this cottage highly enough.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We have just had new photographs taken so hope when they are uploaded to the site they will help with the accuracy of the listing of The Stables. We hope to welcome you back to Horton in Ribblesdale in the future. Property Owner

"Brilliant and quaint cottage, I could live there 24/7."
Hats off to the owners on a lovely place, it has everything you would need. Highly recommended, just watch out for your head on the beam (it made for a few laughs and one or two swear words lol). It was recommended by a friend and I think we will be visiting it again next year.
Thank you for feedback. It was lovely to hear a friend recommended The Stables to you. (Did your friend not warn you about the beam?) We hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

"Brilliant accommodation, Cottage full of charm and character."
Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Those additional extras were truly appreciated. Would highly recommend this property as we had a fantastic week explowing the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in what was gorgeous weather.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you had a fantastic week at The Stables exploring the Dales. We hope to welcome you back to the cottage in the future. Property Owner

"Wonderful cottage and very clean with excellent facilities."
My only complaint is the mattress in the master bedroom. You can feel the springs through the material, this did not make for a good nights sleep. That said, it would not prevent me staying again in the future.
Thank you for your feedback. We were pleased to hear you thought the cottage was wonderful. It was disappointing to read you had not had a good nights sleep in the master bedroom. When replacing the mattress we had opted for a traditional pocket sprung mattress. We appreciate that there is nothing like your own bed, and many of us like different types of mattresses and so have added a topper to the bed to give an extra layer of comfort. We hope that we can welcome you back to The Stables in the future. Property Owner

"Beautifully renovated quirky cottage looking towards Pen y Ghent."
This is a real get-away-from-a busy life sort of area. Wonderful walking and have no hesitation in recommending. Enjoy
Thank you for your feedback and saying you would not hesitate in recommending The Stables. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay, Property Owner

"Beautiful character property in a stunning location."
Perfectly situated for the 3 Peaks and surrounding attractions.
-
"We have just returned from a weekend away at this beautiful cottage."
Very welcoming and lots of personal touches, with a plate full of home made flapjack and Prosecco all provided. Would highly recommended. Helen the host was very helpful with lots of information before we arrived. Highly recommend and very good location to access the 3 peaks. Would love to stay here again in the future :) Thanks Phillipa
-
"This was such a beautiful holiday home, well positioned for walking and many different tourist attractions."
The cottage itself is just lovely, very clean and well equipped with a touch of luxury. We all had our favourite spot, mine was the snug where I could read, snooze, or look out the window to the hills. My husband and dog loved the kitchen window seat and the teenaged girls loved the real games as opposed to electronic ones! Thank you so much!
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear your family enjoyed your visit to The Stables and made the most of the cosy spots to sit in the cottage and enjoy the views whilst relaxing. Property Owner
-
"I cannot praise the property or the owners highly enough."
The location is perfect and the layout of the cottage enchanting. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and we were truly made to feel at home. We hope to return soon.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and the layout of The Stables worked well for your party. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Stables in the future. Property Owner

"We have stayed in numerous cottages and gites over the years and this was one of the quirkiest and best we have stayed in can not recommend highly enough."
Its position for walking pen-y-ghent is ideal just could have done with better weather!
Thank you for your feedback on The Stables. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

"What a fabulous quirky cottage, the pictures online really do not do this place justice."
Fabulous host and some lovely welcome touches
-
"We had a lovely time, great scenery, ideal location, only one minutes walk to the pub."
Absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay. We would have no hesitation in returning to this cottage.
-
"Location is fantastic for 3 peak challenge."
Cottage is quirky and well equipped, plenty of space and some very nice little individual touches that we're very much appreciated. We will be going back to this one!
-
"We enjoyed our stay at the Stables and having tested its capability with the unseasonably winter weather would look to come year round."
We found the cottage well equipped and comfortable. In terms of what would improve the quality of our stay a few more spoons and the radiator in the downstairs toilet may remember getting hot but doesn't manage it now. The lovely welcome and delightful lambing service at St Oswalds invites us to hurry back. The broadband is very slow even by rural standards so we couldn't teleconference for work which would increase our chances of renting again.
-
"Lovely cottage with great character."
Loved extra touches - ornaments were stylish and cushions and throws all added personal touches. Shower gel ect was also an added bonus Position perfect for 3 peaks and other walks. Loved the fire and the snug. Very quiet at night and dog enjoyed looking out of window seats. Appreciated extra fridge freezer washing machine and dishwasher. Only had one dishwasher tablet which was a shame because had brought all my other provisions from home to avoid shopping.. Welcome packs for dog and us were also above expectations and a lovely touch . On arrival in evening it was quite dark and whilst looking for light switches my husband banged his head badly enough to cut it on the beam outside bathroom . So please be careful. We will return
-
"Such a lovely cottage - exceptionally clean, well thought out layout and facilities, excellent kitchen, lots of nice touches, enjoyed the welcome prosecco and flapjacks - perfect location for walking - owner was really nice."
Will return.
-
"The cottage is full of character, reflecting it's original use as a stables with some fine, smooth hardwood that is in the shape of parts of a stable, beams, and even a saddle on the wall adds a sense of its past."
The range is of a higher spec than would be expected of a holiday let and the kitchen well equipped. Situated where it is, this cottage would be ideal as a base for the three peaks, with one view from the road showing the cottage and Penyghent in the background. But there are lots of alternative days out nearby. The owners have carefully tended beautiful flower baskets around the outside of the property. This is a dog friendly home away from home, but is none the less kept clean and tidy.
-
"Lovely cottage to stay in for walking."
Superb location and parking for two cars.
-
"Rearranged excellent cottage when booked one was unavailable at short notice."
Great cottage, well served by owners. Prosecco and milk in the fridge and homemade flapjack when we arrived. Would be great for a longer stay, with good storage options leaving the living spaces clear.
-
"Beautiful cottage in a lovely location."
Very warm , comfortable and lots of extra touches. Would stay again
-
"We had stayed in the cottage previously and standards remain high, plus the views are spectacular."
-
"Fantastic cottage, great location, good view from front (hills) and back (churchyard), spotlessly clean, well-furnished, comfortable, convenient parking."
The only slight downside is that the Wifi connection isn't great.
-
"We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay in this gorgeous cottage."
It was perfect for a peaceful weekend away.
-
"Everything was great, the only thing we could fault was the wifi which was slow and maybe the signal would be better if the modum was placed in the main part of the house and not in the garage?"
The barn is amazing and quirky, in beautiful surroundings and handy for the 3 peaks, we would certainly recommend this property.
-
"Absolutely loved our stay at this lovely cottage."
It was the perfect stay for doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge as we could start from our door step. They have a good number of cooking utensils so we were able to make roast and all our meals without a glitch. The cling film was also very handy! The dog bed, towel and biscuits were such a lovely touch. We would definitely recommend!
-
"Great place to stay with the perfect location for the Three Peaks!"
We'll definitely return :-)
-
"The stables is a beautiful little retreat."
It is actually more spacious than the pictures give it credit for. The kitchen was really well stocked and we found the washing machine really handy as we were staying for a weeks hiking holiday. Would definitely recommend.
-
"Brilliant accommodation in a great location to explore the Dales."
Appreciated the welcoming touches from the hosts too. Would definitely like to come again.
-
"We loved this cottage."
An excellent start with the welcome goodies, and a lovely place to stay and relax. the kitchen was very well equipped and we loved the fact that the cottage was warm - in February it can be chilly in some properties, but not here. A fabulous base for walkers or those wanting to explore the Dales by car. The cottage is on a side road close to the road through the village, but we weren't disturbed by any noise from the road. Parking is in a space directly opposite. The photos don't do it justice, there is a lot of space in this cottage and we liked the extra sitting area upstairs. There are lots of books, maps and info about the area. The owners really understand what makes a luxury cottage.
-
"Loved the cottage."
Little touches on arrival such as dog biscuits, prosseco, milk - very much appreciated. In a brilliant location for good walks.
-
"A beautiful cottage in a superb location."
Everything one needed was there. The friendly owners were nearby and made sure everything ran smoothly. A super autumn break and we will definitely be back.
-
"We stayed at the Stables for 1 week on the 24th Aug 2018."
It was one of the best cottages we have stayed in, it was clean and had lots of home comforts. There was a bottle of prosecco on arrival and some lovely home baking along with lots of other little touches. Its a perfect location for doing the three peaks which we completed over the course of the weekwith our 2 Children aged 7 and 9 and 2 Border Collies. The dogs also enjoyed their little treats too!! Thank you for making our stay an enjoyable one.
-
"The cottage and its facilities were excellent."
The location was perfect for exploring the area. The owner made us feel very welcome
-
"We have stayed at The Stables previously, which is why the cottage did not exceed our expectations."
The cottage is beautiful and homely with many luxurious touches, but we feel that it is a little misleading to list it as being in a 'peaceful location' as it is but a stone's throw from the busy B6479 which, although relatively quiet during the evening and night, becomes very noisy from 6 am onwards on weekdays with lorries going to and from Horton quarry thundering past and a steady flow of other traffic and numerous motorcycles at weekends. There are also times when visitors to the cottage may also be woken early by parties of walkers attempting the Three Peaks challenge. On a previous visit, we watched 800 walkers going past (from 5 am onwards) which we found entertaining, but which could have annoyed others. We feel that the cottage would benefit from a full-length mirror, a bread bin and clear instructions for operating the cooker. Otherwise, a fantastic holiday can be enjoyed at The Stables, and we would definitely visit again.
-
"The Stables is a beamed quaint holiday home with plenty of space and well fitted with all you need to enjoy your holiday."
The owners added extra touches which made us feel very welcome. In a lovely position next to the church and fields of lambs.
-
"What a fantastic cottage."
Lots of little extras included like towel and biscuits for dogs, milk, home baking and wine on our arrival. Stables is a quirky cottage with lots of character and so comfortable. We had a great time and hope to return in the future.
-
"Beautiful cottage, listing did not do it justice."
-
"Lovely little cottage in the Yorkshire Dales."
Just as pictured. Great location and easy to find. Owners very thoughtful - had the heating on before we arrived, milk in the fridge and chilled Prosecco out. Extra special thanks for bringing us milk during the 'Beast from the East' horrid weather. Meant we didn't need to drive on the worst day!
-
"Fantastic cottage and very welcoming,."
The owners have thought of all the comforts needed to have a successful stay.
-
"Fabulous cottage, cosy and beautifully decorated and restored."
Everything was very easy from check in to leaving, and the location was perfect.
-
"Great property and ideal location."
-
"Fantastic cottage"
-
"A very well restored old cottage property."
. Unbelievably clean, especially as up to two dogs are permitted. The owner definitely goes the extra mile to ensure your comfort and convenience with much appreciated extras that aren't expected. Fabulous location practical!y at the foot of Pen y Ghent. Highly recommended
