  • "This was our first stay at Deer Thwaite, paying a little more than our usual budget, but so glad we did."

This property was a pleasant surprise. Five of us were staying at the property for a week, and we all commented on how spacious Deer Thwaite is. When returning at the end of the day, everyone could spread out and relax, and the bonus was having the outside area/lawn. It is a shared area, but was never crowded (at least when we were staying there) and is a big bonus with teenagers! The facilities were plentiful (our only small suggestion is possibly to have a couple more towels in the bathrooms for those with long hair after a shower, and the long mirrors would be easier to use if located on the walls instead of inside the wardrobe doors, but these are very minor suggestions). Fingers crossed we'll be able to visit again, and we'd highly recommend to anyone to book this property.

Dear Christopher and family, Thank you so much for your very positive review and feedback. We will certainly consider your comments about the towels and mirrors. We too hope you will visit Deer Thwaite again in the near future. Maria and Steve Property Owner

  • "We asked for extra hand towels the first day, although promised they never arrived."

Brown towels were very heavy with a harsh fringe. We have been many times to Deer Thwaite, excellent upgrades on the bathrooms/showers. No potato peeler!! Apart from these relatively minor points, an excellent holiday venue.

Dear Ray. Thank you for your valued feedback and return visits. We are pleased you like the new bathrooms and cloakroom. We will look into replacing the towels and ensure there is a potato peeler for future visits. We hope you and your family will holiday at Deer Thwaite again soon. Maria and Steve. Property Owner

  • "We were very pleasantly surprised by how lovely our cottage was."

Our daughter was getting married at the Merewood Country Hotel and it was perfectly placed for this. The cottage was situated in a beautiful quiet setting and centrally positioned within easy reach of Keswick, Kendal and Ambleside with lake Windermere across the road. We had the perfect week there.

Dear Mandy. Thank you for your excellent review. We are so pleased you enjoyed the cottage and hope that your daughter's wedding was everything your family could have wished for. We are indeed very lucky to be so close to the shoreline of Lake Windermere with great access to all of the popular Lake District towns and amenities. We hope you and your family will stay again soon. Maria and Steve. Property Owner

  • "Lovely warm, comfortable and spacious cottage in a very convenient location to explore the Lakes, thank you very much!"

A little of the gloss taken off by some technical issues with the TV and the dishwasher stopping working, but luckily the cottage was very well equipped and had plenty of games too. New bathrooms excellent!

Dear Kirsty. Thank you so much for your kind words. We are so pleased you enjoyed the cottage and especially the new bathrooms. There is a brand new dishwasher going in this week and we will have the TV checked. We hope you return in the near future. Maria and Steve. Property Owner

  • "We’ve been staying at Deer Thwaite for over 10 years and this was another great stay, apart from a few niggles that could be easily resolved."

The en suite shower hose is leaking so badly hardly any water comes out the shower head, the radiator in the bedroom with velux windows doesn’t work and the dishwasher has a broken spring on the flap where the tablet goes so it doesn’t spring open and the tablet gets trapped, we worked around this by just putting the tablet on the top shelf. Despite these minor issues we will of course be back again next year. Jon, Vicky & Jacob

Dear Jonathan. Thank you so much for your feedback. We are really pleased that you enjoy the house so much and look forward to your return visit. I am pleased to tell you that we are having a brand new ensuite fitted starting next week. I am sure you will enjoy it on your return stay. We will attend to the other issues forthwith before any other guests arrive. Once again, thank you for staying and your valuable feedback. Maria & Steve Property Owner

  • "Spent 2 days without Internet and TV with maintenance unable to help."

Central heating only worked for 24 hours in what was a cold house. Car parking was a nightmare. Would never consider returning. Also although we complied I think it is unfair to insist the guests dispose of their rubbish in the skips provided. Isn't that what cleaners are for. Sykes customer services were hopeless.

We are sorry you were so dissatisfied with your stay. The internet issue was a simple matter of the connection being put into the wrong socket and was rectified within one hour of us becoming aware of the problem. The central heating did suffer a loss in pressure, for which we apologise. This has now been completely rectified and the system is working perfectly fine. There are and were electric heaters available. There is ample parking for 3 cars at the property and an additional 8 visitor parking spaces, and we have not had any comments about this before. I cannot comment on Sykes customer service except to apologise on their behalf. Maria and Steve. Property Owner

  • "The boiler didn’t work."

There was no heating ever and no hot water after 24 hours. When I reported this, some maintenance guys came round and set the immersion heater so we had hot water (and a certain amount of mud traipsed through the property which we cleared up). They said they’d get a proper boiler engineer in but (s)he didn’t come during our stay. Apart from that the cottage is lovely, so lovely that it cries out to have soap and shampoo provided.

Dear Jill, We are sorry that Lakelovers maintenance team left a mess. This is not up to their usual standards. As for the issue with the boiler, we again, can only apologise. We are pleased that you think so highly of the cottage and really do hope you will stay again. We value your feedback and your visit. Maria & Steve. Property Owner

  • "A great stay, great location, really comfortable, quiet, spacious, comfortable beds & lots of hot water."

Well equipped kitchen. We were very happy. The only disappointment was the level of cleanliness. The property had been cleaned but not deep cleaned LOTS of cobwebs in the kitchen & lots of long term dust on skirting boards & bathroom towel rails, oven door not cleaned etc. Thought the property would have had a deep clean at start of session. However everything else was great so did not stop us enjoying our stay. We would return Thank you.

Dear Debbie, We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay so much and that you would happily return. We are sorry to hear about the dust and cobwebs - this will be addressed and dealt with at the next cleaning. We hope to see you again very soon and thank you for your valuable feedback. • "A nice, well equiped and comfortable cottage."

Stayed in March so it was good to come back to a lovely warm cottage after our many walks on the fells. Small problem over the lack of toilet rolls when we arrived but one phone call to Lakelovers solved this and more toilet rolls were delivered in an hour - well done to all concerned.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we were able to resolve the issue with the toilet rolls. We hope to welcome you back very soon. Maria & Steve Property Owner
