  • "What a lovely cottage, so well stocked with everything you need for your stay."

We have never stayed in a place that had everything we needed. The garden was just perfect for our 3 dogs and they loved exploring all the nooks and crannies there was. The garden extended out behind a wooden gate with another field they could run about in. Anthony and Helen checked on us when we arrived to make sure all was OK. A lovely patio which would be glorious in the summer with all the flowering flowers and shrubs. So many places to visit and beaches to walk the dogs. Whoever goes there in the future remember to try the sticky toffee pudding from the local shop in Cartmel, it is sooooo yummy. I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. The only thing I could say , is maybe a couple of recycling bins in the kitchen next to the fridge would have helped us to be more efficient with the recycling. If you have already booked to go, enjoy it, I'm sure you will.

  • "Lovely stay at Egg pudding stone."

Comfortable cottage and beautiful garden. We even had good weather after being drenched the first day. Everything you would want in a cottage, although a washing machine in the utility would be nice but did not detract from our stay. Doggy treats and blankets for our greyhound were a welcome extra. All in all well worth a visit

  • "Fantastic cottage!"

! Beautiful setting and the garden is amazing super dog friendly. Everything is so well kept and maintained. New sofas and TV are lovely. The bed was so comfy and its huge!! Set in a great location close to village pubs, cafes and shop. Great base for Lake windermere and many other attractions. Our only thing missing would be a washing machine but it's no biggie. We loved it and would definitely go back. Thanks :)

  • "So pleased we found this place."

It was just perfect. The cutest cottage with a fantastic living room, dining room and kitchen space. At no point did we feel like it was missing anything. It’s in a great location for getting to lots of places in the lakes. The garden is stunning! And fully enclosed which was perfect for Finn the greyhound who absolutely loved his first holiday. We had a great week staying at Egg Pudding Stone and wouldn’t hesitate to book again if we were going back to the area. Thank you!

  • "Generally excellent experience however some points to be picky about!"

Sofas were very low and especially difficult to get up from. During our stay we were made aware that they were to be replaced, Despite being told that they were to deliver the replacement on two dates, nothing actually arrived, Helen and Anthony also advised that action had already been taken to rectify an issue ourselves and previous users had suggested would be beneficial, the provision of a grab rail to help getting in and out of the bath, This was also in hand with the provision of a suction device that had been acquired. Anthony suggested he would fit the device when the couches were delivered. I suggested I could fit the device for him. This I did but it fell off during the night! Despite re-fitting it the following morning it still fell off again. I believe the existing tiles allow a degree of breatheability resulting in the suction loosing pressure, A physical means of fixture would be required. Another issue was the use of an Amazon account to operate the TV. This was a pain in the neck as was the size of the TV which was felt to be far too small for the size of the room in which it would be viewed. Access to the utility room was also an issue! Not only was the lock difficult to operate the whole door frame assembly has reached the end of it's serviceable life and requires renewal. The last point for providing and extra facility would be the provision of an external clothes line to dry clothes that might washed, especially for guests like us who stayed for two weeks!

  • "Lovely cottage in a stunning location."

Very peaceful. The only things to further improve this would be to replace the sofas (too low and cushions are tired). Curtains or privacy screen on the main door glass panels. Overall it was a very good experience.

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay, and we have taken your comments into account to help us improve things for future guests. Property Owner

  • "At first the accommodation was adequate, however we had to call the keyholder out to set the TV up."

It required an amazon account .(Alien to us). Also the TV was too small for the size of the room, it had to be brought forward for us to have a decent-ish viewing. The settees had been well used and as my husband is disabled found it very difficult to get out of so we had to improve the comfort by putting some cushions in place to make it easier. On one occasion a small plastic bottle top fell under the floor standing cupboard and finding something to check under the cupboard out came, along with the said top, part of a broken plate, some doggie treats and other bits. So can only assume the floor had only been surface cleaned and not swept underneath. We were somewhat disappointed, and so decided to leave 2 nights earlier than we had booked for.

  • "This is a good cottage and excellent garden."

The tv is not upto scratch being on amazon only such a faf having to log in set up profile. Its screen too small for size of room. The sofa's are too low you have to climb out of them. The smaller bedroom has no window and double bed is only accessible on one side. The large bedroom has damp patch in corner attracting a few woodlice. We did enjoy our stay however but the above comments need attention.

  • "The property was lovely and great for dogs."

TV took some sorting out, we had to.use our own Amazon account to log in. We are not too technical but by day 2 we were up and running. There isn't a washing machine but we took enough clothes to manage. One safety aspect, it could do with a grab rail in the shower as had to climb over the bath. All in all had a lovely relaxing week.

Thank you for your feedback, and we're glad you had a relaxing week. We will look into how we can improve the access to the shower for the benefit of future guests. Property Owner

Only one bag of logs could have done with more also would help if we could have used washing machine otherwise enjoyed our stay Thankyou

Glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your feedback. We only provide a starter pack of logs, as it is not the main source of heating and not everyone wishes to use the log burner. Providing sufficient wood for a week's stay would increase everyone's rental fee, which is something we have tried to avoid. All other sources of heating are included. Property Owner

The garden is massive, secure and accessed directly from the house. The drive is gated with mesh on. Gorgeous house and one of the best we have stayed in. No walks directly from the house but Cartmel is less than a minute drive away with parking at Cartmel Racecourse where there are walks in all directions, near to all attractions of the lakes and the zoo is worth a visit. Oh and Cartmel sticky pudding is a must! . cosy and confortable… furnished thoughtfully. Incredibly quiet and private. Great location.. easy access to lovely walks and drives and tourist sites. The only disappointment was bit having an enclosed area attached to the cottage. We visited with four dogs and weren’t able to let them out off lead from the cottage meaning they had to be taken out on a lead. The enclosed paddock was great but it was a walk away. A gate ensuring the patio was secure would have been appreciated especially as it was very wet and windy.

  • "The cottage was lovely and in a good location to explore the Lakes."

My children loved the features in the cottage and outside areas. Lots of heaters to get clothes dry and very comfortable beds! The only thing that I didn't realise was that the garden was not 'connected' to the cottage and was the other side of a barn, so I needed to walk the dogs to the garden and around. If you have a dog that would not try to squeeze under the gate to the road it would be secure to let them go but for our two dogs we needed to keep them on lead (which was really only a pain just before bed and in the night if they needed to go out!)

Thanks for your feedback. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay. While we have aimed to provide as secure a space as possible for dog owners to relax, it is obviously always going to be down to individual owners to make safety judgements around gates and boundaries based on their knowledge of their own dogs' behaviours and level of training.
