"The property is beautifully equipped and comfortable, was lovely and warm and the views from all windows were stunning."
Although we knew that it was a dog friendly cottage, we were a little disappointed that we were able to smell dog odour in both the porch and lounge.. It was very convenient for visiting our daughter and family who live in the next village. I am sure we will be back.

"Second time here, we love it."
Beautiful location, charming property. The owners are welcoming and helpful. There are lots of brilliant walking routes in the local area, dark skies for stargazing, and a gorgeous fire. A lovely week of tranquility and can’t wait to come back again next year.
-
"Lovely cottage that has been modernised inside without taking away from the original building."
Not far from Stanhope, the cottage is surrounded by fields of sheep. Very picturesque!!!
Thank you Property Owner

"Lovely cottage, good base for visiting nearby places."
Stunning views all around. Beds comfy, kitchen well stocked and the log fire was lovely to have. The record player was a nice touch, my teenagers loved it. Owner was friendly and provided advice on local places. Parking not an issue for us, we easily squeezed into the available space and there was ample street parking nearby. Would recommend a stay here and we would return in the future.

"Lovely property, beautiful area."
We already loved the look of the cottage and views from the listing, but both were even better in person. High reccomend a stay here.
-
"Lovely cottage, really lovely setting."
Some weird noises from the hot water system about 530, but otherwise everything was great!
-
"Great location, very peaceful yet only 5 mins drive to shop and pub."
Loads of walks on doorstep for dog. The walk round reservoir was easy and very scenic. Cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed for a few days away. Wi-Fi and satellite tv was an welcome bonus.

"Absolutely beautiful cottage."
Felt at home from the moment we arrived. Would highly recommend.
-
"Lovely spacious and bright property with rural views."
Ideally situated for us, walking the Durham dales, with shop and pubs available within 10 minutes drive. Very dog-friendly.

"Really really lovely cottage."
Exactly what I needed to get away from the world for a week. It’s a beautiful cottage, nicely done inside, cosy and warm even when it was very cold outside! Check in and out was very easy, the parking space is small but I could just about squeeze my seat Leon in. There is also off road parking on a quiet side street only about 100 yards down the road so the parking really shouldn’t put anyone off. Had absolutely everything you needed, the only thing I found the main bed to not be so comfortable, but the 2 single beds seemed to have very comfy mattresses. I would definitely stay again!

"What a wonderful cottage, in a beautiful location."
Very homely, clean and tidy. We liked the added little touches of board games, and towels provided for the dog. Highly recommended!

"You list this property with off road parking ONLY WITH A SMART CAR."
You misled us as my sister has difficulty walking and having no parking space i could not let her out of the car on a busy road. I am disappointed with you Sykes i now cant rely on you. I think the property is feeling tired.
Property not listed as disable freindly , property is on a hill . There is avalible off road parking just down the road next to pub Some older style furniture used in keeping with age of property all fixtures and fercilities are next to new Property Owner

"We had a lovely time at Braeside exploring the area and enjoying the company of the friendly locals in the Cowshill Hotel bar."
There are so many walks and fantastic scenery. Our dog had a great time too! The cottage was lovely, clean and surprisingly spacious and we enjoyed spending cosy nights by the fire. The owner was very responsive and helpful too. We hope to visit again in future!

"A beautiful holiday home in an amazing area."
If you like walking you will be in heaven, so many bridlepaths and public footpaths with amazing scenery and views. Very peaceful area, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again.

"A very comfortable cottage but a bit remote."
Could have done with some information on gadgets provided but we worked them out eventually. Great for anyone who likes serious walking. Amenities not very close and then a bit limited. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay. It was very peaceful.
-
"Very efficient owner willing to answer any questions or concerns."
Lovely comfortable cottage and the surrounding countryside was beautiful and well worth the visit. We felt very welcomed there. It was a lovely week.

"Had a lovely surprise when we arrived at cottage on how spacious it was and immaculately clean ."
Parking a bit tricky at cottage but parking available down hill on first left passed hotel . Beautiful surroundings.

"Lovely cottage, we did have a nice time, the cottage is right next to a main ..."
Lovely cottage, we did have a nice time, the cottage is right next to a main road, lots of motorbikes, very noisy all day, the stairs in the cottage is really steep, the fridge wasn’t clean I had to clean it before I could put food in it, behind the record player hadn’t been hoovered in a long time, the cottage had a musty smell, couldn’t open windows when in side because on noise, I wouldn’t go back, but don’t let me put you off

"Not the first time we’ve stayed here and won’t be the last."
A great base for walkers to Cumbria, Durham, North Yorkshire and Northumberland.

"Really nice house with everything you need and more."
The area is awesome for walks to get away from it all it was perfect, we wouldn’t hesitate to return.
-
"Everything as listed but unless you drive a mini the parking space will mean that your back end will be sticking out."
I would suggest it had a dishwasher and king size bed.

"A roomy, very comfortable and homely stone cottage high up in the north Pennines."
This was Perfect for a break from it all and very much appreciated by myself and two grown up sons. Could just about fit my Honda jazz behind the garage which was useful. We found the house was very warm and definitely didn't need the heating on and the log burner was useful at night. it is blustery and pretty exposed up there so nice to have that warming comfort. The shower was good too - powerful and it was fab to have a soak in the bath after a day out walking (don't have one at home!). Some cottages can be short of living space but this was very spacious with comfortable sofas and a well equipped and decent sized kitchen. Thankyou Andrew for your helpfulness /welcome and hospitality in trying times for everyone.

"We had an absolutely brilliant week at 1 Braeside and were very sad to leave."
Exactly how it’s described. Perfect for our family of 3 and our dog. Right in the heart of the countryside. Perfect for long walks and then coming back and relaxing in front of the fire. The cottage had absolutely everything we needed and more...even for the dog! We would definitely recommend this homely cottage x

"This is a beautifully presented cottage in a quiet area away from it all."
Great things provided by the owners such as fairy liquid, Andrex toilet tissue and other homely bits and pieces. Fantastic welcome tray with wine too! The heating was just right and we didn't need the fire as it was so cosy. The downside, if we're being hyper critical is the lack of parking space and the really uncomfortable wooden frames on the sofa, in all honesty we only noticed this as we had 4 days of bad weather so were inside more than out. Top tip would be to pull in on road and get key, then open up back door to unload things. Rather than off bridleway as this has a weird camber on it and my Toyota yaris got caught at the front! Scrapping it to get off. There's parking behind garage and my car fitted on, just. The road is not overly busy, except first and last thing. Easy to reverse back out of parking space onto it. There's a little bypass over through Cowshill so if you face wrong way just drive around. We have had a wonderful few days here and would go back, hopefully in the dry so we could see the stars!!

"The house was lovely and all the extra and homely touches were much appreciated!"
! couldn't fault it and can't wait to go back!

"We had a lovely weekend here."
-
"Fantastic house which exceeded our expectations of what it provided."
Plenty of space for 2-4 people. Amazing views and we made good use of the porch for bird and wildlife watching. The owner kindly bought an airier which allowed clothes drying without using the drier. Providing a plastic/wooden chopping board would be good. The parking is somewhat limited and only usable with a small car.
