  • "We have been visiting Amber Cottage for 12 years, which speaks for itself!"

It is a cosy, well-equipped home in a lovely village, with a local shop and pub. It is perfectly placed for all the wonders of the Lake District and coastal areas of the South Lakes Peninsula.

Very well appointed and homely, with a suntrap garden at the rear which was totally secure and ideal for dogs. Close to amenities, pub and shop just a couple of minutes away and the railway station about 10 minutes stroll. Would definitely stay here again.

Just one thing, patio doors are very hard to open and close and it also needs a step down onto the patio ie too high for old knees.. Overall very good indeed.

  • "We had previously enjoyed a week in this lovely cottage pre COVID so we were looking forward to returning."

This is a lovely modern cottage set in a traditional designed courtyard on the edge of Cark.It is extremely well furnished with everything you could ever need. Bed was super comfy and the whole house is spotless. A pub and shop within walking distance and loads of walks for our dog (and us). The fully enclosed west facing sun trap of a back garden is lovely to enjoy a leisurely drink after a busy day in the lakes. You won't be disappointed.

  • "Lovely cottage in a lovely location - close to Cartmel village - a favourite of ours for many years."

The overall cleanliness and comfort lets the cottage down so too does the decor. We’ve stayed at the cottage many years ago (at least 10) and other than the sofas - nothing much has changed. The shower needs updating (more power) and the mattress in the main bedroom needs to be firmer - (we both ended up with bad backs in the morning). Sorry to sound so down but some upgrading is definitely required. A hoover would be useful too.

We are sorry to receive your negative comments about your recent stay but just wished to respond and clarify a couple of points you have made. The property was completely redecorated last year, furniture was updated and flooring replaced throughout. The shower was newly installed last year too. We are sorry the mattress was not to your liking but many people comment at just how comfortable the beds are. A hoover is provided and can be found in the cupboard in the kitchen. We were very disappointed to read that you found the cleanliness of the cottage not up to standard. Rest assured we will be taking this matter up with the Cleaning Company we employ as we expect the highest standard for the price we pay to have the property cleaned after each stay. Sykes very happy for you to post these comments in response. Very disappointing as we were there for a couple of days the week before and everything was in order. Best wishes. • "We enjoyed our week at Amber Cottage."

The cottage is well equipped. The kitchen in particular has everything you’d need for your stay. The living area is comfortable. If there was more space, a footstool would be great. It’s very handy to have a downstairs toilet. The king size bed was also comfortable. The cottage surroundings are lovely with pretty well kept gardens. The only negative about the property was that it was a bit dusty in places. In particular the sitting room, under the armchairs, tv unit but it didn’t spoil our holiday.

In addition parking for this cottage is not directly outside so loading/unloading could be an issue.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on our property. We are sorry to hear that you struggled to find additional parking. The property clearly notes that there is 1 space of off road parking. Had we been made aware at the time of your stay that you required additional parking, we would have recommended where to go. . Also warm and cosy feel. Would be a great stay in the summer months as the garden is a lovely spot to sit. As we stayed February this was not possible, however we got nice weather and could clearly see the sun on the garden also not overlooked as fields at the back of the property. Cark is a great little village with 2 good pubs. Cartmel not too far away. Also Grange easy to visit. The Commodore hotel serves good food. Damian on the bar there providing excellent customer service as we visited friends for an 80th birthday celebration.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am sorry that your stay was interrupted on one day during your week when an adjoining property was having work carried out, as I understand from a neighbour alternative parking was arranged for you.
