  • "Arnside House was perfect for our party of four adults and two small children."

It was well-equipped, spotlessly clean and easy to heat, (important in November!) It is in walking distance of a leisure centre, (which has a pool, gym and restaurant) and a short drive to a family-friendly farm.

Well situated plenty of nice walks close by and lots of places within a short drive.

  • "Booked for my son and daughter plus their family for long weekend."

They were very impressed with the house. Only comments slightly negative was one shower made the morning “busy” and only one PlayStation working (frankly I see that as a positive). Otherwise, location great, clean and ideal. Great comms from host and Sykes. Would certainly book for them again.

  • "We have just come back from a week's break at this lovely lodge and I have to say it was perfect!"

It had everything we needed and felt like home from home. The site the lodge is on is small but very pretty - the view of the lake is beautiful. There was very little on site to do (we didn't use the gym or swimming pool) but it was a great base for us to venture out further afield, with everything just a short drive away. Mark was absolutely brilliant. Communication was great and the very thoughtful touches of a bottle of wine, milk, coffee and tea were really welcomed, after a long drive up. We will absolutely book this property again and cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone thinking about staying here :-)

  • "A nice stay all the way from booking the accomodation to arriving at the property."

It was spotless and some welcome items like tea, coffee, milk and a bottle of wine were waiting for us. Overall a very pleasant stay and will look to stay here again when next in the area. Only one comment, the first takeaway in the guest book, called "Spice Touch", if I recall correctly, appears to have permanently closed.

  • "The property is ideal for a party of 4 adults with enough bedrooms and plenty of downstairs space."

It is situated on a lovely leisure park . We were very pleased that it was so cool in the property when it was 30 degrees outside. There were some fans in the bedrooms which we used as well. Our dog enjoyed his stay too but we had to check there weren't any rabbits outside before we went outside! The property is close to the motorway junction and it's easy to travel from there to Cumbria or the coast.

Will definitely be back. The only down side was that the leisure facilities are really expensive. We paid 70.00 (I made a promise to the children) for what ended up as a 2 1/2 day pass (3 hours worth of swimming) for 3 of us.

House was superb and really appreciated being able to wash and dry (with the in house wash room) our muddy wet clothes after a long hike in the mountains. I've stayed on this site 3 times over the years but this was the first time in the house. Would highly recommend.

  • "The property was perfectly all right, very clean and tidy, nicely furnished and comfortable."

A problem with the dishwasher was dealt with immediately. The only issue for us was that the swimming pool facilities were extremely expensive. Quite disappointing as the swimming pool was a major thing for us to choose for Arnside House. It is advisable to have all the practical information, including the fees, published on your website.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Arnside House."

We found the property to be clean, comfortable and spacious. Plenty of towels, crockery, pots, pans and utensils. The Leisure Village was a pleasant place for our dog walks and we had a nice meal in the bar. We enjoyed pottering about locally- the Heritage Centre (lovely new, dog friendly, coffee shop)walking the bay at Silverdale and Bay View Garden Centre(good dog friendly cafe). We hope to return to Arnside House.

  • "Our stay here was fine, great location to explore and the park was nice and quiet, parking is great as you can park right outside."

We bought a pass for the swimming pool which was going to cost us £40 for 3 days for 2 adults but we managed to get it for £20 in the end. The lodge is as described in the booking it was clean but could do with cobwebs clearing from the doors etc i opened the back door to be greated by a huge spider hanging down and quite a few spider nests. As stated in other reviews it could do with a little fence/gate around the property as dogs can easily escape and the side and back of the property could do with a tidy up..carpets could do with replacing and if the floorboards upstairs can somehow be sorted as they are really creaky!

    Reviewed by Adele3.8Mar 2022

  • "Really nice property and location but let down by cleanliness and upkeep."

Lots of cobwebs and dust at the property, litter around the outside of the property including a bag of dog poo left near the back steps. The decking was also broken which was a hazard, so we couldn't let the children play outside as a result. We emailed the owner and contacted Skykes during out stay with no response which was very disappointing.

  • "The accomodation was lovely and the park is quiet and well kept and near to some lovely places."

Going with two early teens though, we went to the pool only to find that we would have to pay to use it. The advert doesn't state this but that we have "access" to the pool and gym which is ambiguous to say the least. This represents a hidden cost that we weren't expecting and this should be clearer.

Many thanks for your comments. The Sykes advert does mention that the leisure pass is payable but we will contact you to discuss the advert you viewed at the time of your booking. Property Owner

The lodge looked clean but we found a black vase near fireplace with hole in side and no wifi working.contacted sykes but was passed to various people and nothing resolved for 3 days. Then mark the owner contacted me and got wifi sorted and things got better for us all as two of guests were working so needed to keep in touch with their contacts. Also the decking area was very slippy and i had to sweep up all leaves and spiders webs which should have been done by cleaners.deck would also benefit from being made safe as lodge says safe for dog but nothing to stop dogs running off.i would still recommend this lodge as it us still good value for money.
