"Broken toilet kettle not working generally unclean cobwebs bathroom unclean not be vacuumed before we arrived."
Door in bedroom smashed panel for the money paid I would have expected it to be better maintenance and clean really disappointed I have taken pictures also still awaiting email response from the 9th October. Which I think is rude to not acknowledge
Hi All the issues which you mentioned have now been fixed.e could have resolved them while you were in the lodge if you had brought them to our attention Property Owner

"Agree with previous reviews."
Arrived to a clean lodge. Missing a few things - fan (weather was super hot a few days and the heat was unbearable even with windows open), also could do with a bread knife as didn’t seem to be one and notice this has been commented on before. No welcome manual or instructions on arrival - this would have been nice as apart from a map from the reception we had nothing else. It’s just little things that could have been improved. Overall a nice site. Relaxing. Ate at restaurant a few times, average prices. Found the pool massively expensive - £120 for a week!! Would be nice to have an exercise area to let dogs off and maybe a little shop on site - think it’s missing both, but enjoyed our time here.

"Lovely cabin spacious and comfortable we loved it."
Looking forward to our next stay. One thing we couldn’t find the cutlery

"This is a great sized lodge for a family of 4."
We had enough room between the bedrooms and the large family bathroom and en-suite. Nice decor and upon arrival it seemed great. Location is great some really local activities to do with young children. The safari zoo in Ulverston was great and Sizergh Castle was only a short drive too. The site is well kept and there is a nice walk around the lake and was very quiet. The cleanliness of the lodge was not acceptable. Upon arriving the lodge seemed clean and tidy. Until I sat down on the carpet with my children and stood up to be covered in dog hairs. I understand that the lodge does accept pets and we as a family have had dogs previously but it felt as though the carpet needed a deep clean. I attempted to the hoover the carpet but the hoover was not picking up. I emptied it and still it wasn’t picking up. This meant that we were not able to hoover before we left. There was a brush but it was snapped in half. On day three of our stay there were a lot of ants in the en-suite and were crawling all over the bath matt. There was some ant spray in the kitchen but it would more appropriate to deal with the issue and attempt to get rid of the ants. The dining room table legs were loose and we discovered this as it had to be pulled out for the 4 of us to sit at. The toilet brushes in both bathrooms need to be replaced as they were very dirty and they should be replaced more regularly. The en-suite bathroom had brown marks/stains on the floor around the location of the toilet brushes that made it feel very unclean and unkempt. The en-suite shower in the bathroom had mould marks around its edge and the doors were very dirty in the corners. The edge around the bath had holes in it and was damaged. The couches in the living area at extremely uncomfortable and so was the bed in the master bedroom. It felt as though the property was used a lot but not maintained well. This is frustrating as I have noticed that a review in December stated similar issues. We did try to make contact but the only number I could find in the booking information was a number for Sykes. I was not able to see a direct number to contact the owner. We left the holiday early as our eldest son was unwell and we wanted to be somewhere more comfortable for him to recover. We would not return due to the poor maintenance and cleanliness of the property. It was over priced for what we actually stayed in. Very disappointed.

"Only issue we had on arrival was finding the lodge it self , unfortunately due to the winter months it was dark on arrival when we went to the main area to check in we were told we had to find the lodge to then return to the car pack to go through the barrier with the car once we had retrieved the fob out the safe ."
This took over 40mins to try find apart from that we had a great stay .

"Great property and a fantastic owner."
Would definitely recommend

"Lovely well kept site in good location."
No shop on site but Aldi 1.5 miles up the road was handy. Lodge was clean, spacious and well equipped. Only observation - 13.5 tog in July too warm. 10.5 tog would be better. Around the site more dog waste bins would be useful. Otherwise all good.⁰

"I feel I have to respond to the requests you're making."
I feel the cleaning you provide is superficial. It's OK asking your guests to practically clean the lodge before they leave, but the people who you pay to clean the lodge are depending on previous guests cleaning properly. Our lodge was grubby on arrival. The kitchen cupboards had crumbs in, and remnants of dog treats. I had to wash the crockery before we could use it and I had to put the oven racks in the dishwasher as they were thick with grease. The oven could also do with a deep clean. I draw the line at that Iam afraid. Also, remnants of personal hygiene items in the bathroom cupboards. Obviously not been cleaned. I went to use the hoover and the barrel hadn't been emptied so it wasn't picking up. Again, Iam not starting emptying dirty hoovers which should have been done by the people you are paying to do a job. We would always leave a property as we find it but, in this case, you will be glad, we didn't. It's cleaner? I understand you have to take a damage deposited in case of damages but I think you should be offering us compensation if anything. I would appreciate a response to this email.
Thank you for your feedback and it is shame that you didnt contact us during your stay as we pride ourselves on providing every guest with the best holiday experience. If we had been notified during your stay we would certainly have responded by assisting you straight away. Property Owner

"There was a bag of trash on our porch when we first arrived that wasn't ours."
The lodge itself needs updated inside with paint and plaster. The couches are extremely uncomfortable and the carpets need redone. The main bathroom was lovely buy the en sweet had some sort of vermin living under the foor. The main bedroom is too small with little air flow when it gets too hot. When we arrived we were told to wait at the barrier until another person came through from the other side. This is far from ideal as we waited 20 minutes. There needs to be a better system for this. The porch area is lovely, the decor although needing an update is lovely. The utensils were all dirty from a previous owner I'm guessing. The opportunity to walk around the site as we please is awesome. The bar/restaurant staff were lovely but making people pay more for a meal outdoors is scummy.
Thank you for your comments we do apologize that the rubbish was left behind by the cleaners during the changeover, the lodges are 2 years old and they have recently been refurbished and painted around 6 weeks ago. Due to the countryside surroundings, there are lots of rabbits and ducks on-site, I have had my cleaners check, and there does not appear to be any issues with under the floors. The couches are 2 years old and have been checked, these seem to be fine. Sadly we do not have aircon in the lodge, it might be worth implementing a standing fan for hotter weather, I will take these notes on board. The bar charging to eat outside is not something I am familiar with at all, I am sorry to hear you had this experience. Property Owner

"Great place we loved it, the site was great and although difficult to navigate in the beginning, definitely needs more signs for way in and out, found a few people not knowing which way was out."
The chalet was nice had everything you needed and was comfortable, well set out with great patio furniture. If I was being super critical all I could say was that there are a few minor things need doing with marks on walls and the carpet plus a deep clean particularly in the ensuite and would definitely replace the toilet brush! But that did not stop us from having a great time and as I say these were minor things. I hopefully will be booking again as a great base for us as we love the lakes so great location as near to lots of places. The restaurant staff are friendly and the food was really good. We found a great pub in Carnforth named the Junction, absolutely some of the best food we have had. Lovely staff and really welcome feeling and doggy friendly. Which I must say as a dog owner it was so nice to be somewhere that people were all accepting of dogs, most people on site had dogs but never had any complaint about noisy dogs at all. Even in Carnforth so many people stopped to chat with us regards our 10mth old puppy. She had her 1st holiday and had a smashing time, Thanks x food

"Great location, lovely lodge, which could only be improved by the provision of a DVD player, for when the weather's not so good."
The site itself is well maintained, but has a distinct lack of litter bins. When asked by friends if I'd return, it's a resounding "yes".

"We had a great week away, incredible Views, plenty to do and staff were nice, pool and steam room was amazing."
Owners left us a lovely note and a box of chocolates and bottle of procecco which was a very nice gesture. Will be definitely going again and would recommend anyone to go.

"Lovely weekend stay."
Thank you

"The cabin was lovely."
There isn’t any bins close by one 1 near pool which was annoying. Very expensive for the pool for a family of 5 £33. £10 for arm bands the guy also printed us a map to get to cabin but his printer ran out of ink and we didn’t know it was coloured print out so was walking round for 15 mins trying find cabin

"Me, my Husband and dog had a lovely stay at South Lakeland Leisure Village."
Beautiful site, great location. Eden Lounge-Sherwood 21 Lodge was clean and tidy and surrounding well maintained. The Lodge has everything you needed for a week stay, would definitely recommend.

"Having to walk to get the fob to open the gate is not ideal."
If it were raining or you were not able to walk long distances this would prove difficult. The lodge itself was not overly clean (bathrooms were very clean), however the carpet and sofas in the living area where covered in hair and other debris. We attempted to use the vacuum but it wasn't picking up. We eventually took the vacuum to bits and cleaned the filter which was choked solid. Once this was cleaned we managed to clean the carpet as best we could. We ended up covering the sofa with blankets so we could sit without feeling dirty (in total we spent 2 hours cleaning the main living area). The twin bedroom needs a deep clean, we found haribo sweets and dog treats behind and under the beds. The en-suite bathroom had a damp smell, we opened windows etc but the smell stayed. There were stains on the bed linen. Several marks on every wall, so much so we took photos on arrival. Having said all that we would not be put off booking again just hope that it would be cleaner.

"We have just returned from a lovely break…weather was brilliant…lodge was lovely…could do with a touch of paint on walls…scuff marks…there was no cutlery…which I found strange as there were cooking utensils…but in all it wouldn’t stop us returning…place is stunning ."
Hello The cutlery drawer is the first drawer and is very slim not easy to find but it is there full of cutlery Property Owner
-
"Excellent - would stay here again - a small suggestion would be to have a “bread knife” - the cutlery draw which we eventually found had cerated knives but would not cut bread rolls or croissants properly."
- small problems were sorted out immediately - very impressed

"This lodge was very clean, the check in was easy using locksafe."
Took a little while to find our lodge, but got used to the layout of the site.

"A truly lovely caravan/ lodge with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a spacious lounge/ kitchen."
Great location and just 10 min drive from large Aldi and Asda stores. The leisure village is not too big but has an indoors swimming pool, gym and a restaurant. It is more relaxed and quite village so you won't be disturbed by loud parties unless you long for some, then this village is not for you. The caravan was clean and well equipped, I would just mention to grab a dish sponge, proper pan and a large pot.
-
"The lodge was excellent."
Everything we needed. The veranda area with the gate was excellent for our dog to have a bit more space to wander. We didn't find the location of the WiFi box until the night before we left. The one tiny thing to add if anything would be just something to clearly locate the WiFi box. However, this did not take away from our break and the whole experience was fantastic. Would definitely use Skye and the lodge again.

"We had a lovely stay at Eden Lodge, the lodge had everything we needed and was the perfect size for us and our four legged family member."
It was especially lovely to receive an unexpected gift just after we had arrived from the owners. The only negative was the en-suite bathroom which had quite a bad smell of damp and what looked like lots of little wood chippings around the sink which appeared a few days in. Other than that everything was spot on and we will happily book again.

"Initial expectations looked good images online and from outside property."
On entering the property we had an issue of not receiving the cot & highchair that was ordered at booking (this was Sykes fault for not providing the information to the owner). However on contact with Sykes the cot & highchair had arrived within a hour. We also reported an issue with the en-suite bathroom as it had a pile of wood chip swept into the side of room, as if work had just been completed, on closer look this pile had around ants running around this and under the pedestal. Sykes contacted the owner and he phoned me and again arrived within the hour with ant spray and catchers. Sadly the vacuum wasn’t picking up properly (on later investigation the hoover was jammed packed and required emptying, the filter required washing as was thick with dust), this the reason the hoover wasn’t working properly. In the end we decided not to use the en-suite since we had the main bathroom. The only place we could fit the cot was against the en-suite door with the main bedroom door open. We will say this lodge is not really suitable for anyone with an infant needing a cot, but would be fine for older children who can sleep in the second bedroom. It is also not suitable for disabled people or anyone who cannot walk far, as you have to walk to the property to get the keys and fob to enter through the gate. I would say thank you for the fantastic speed of service & a bottle of Prosecco from the owner Stephen, it was a lovely gesture. Sadly this property wasn’t for us, this won’t stop us returning to the area.

"We had a fantastic stay at Eden Lodge - the lodge was clean, facilities were great and the site is friendly and clean."
We had 2 brilliant days out in the Lake District and felt at home on our return to relax at Eden Lodge on the evenings - would very much recommend to those with a dog also. Only one small comment - there wasn't any cutlery provided so we had to go and buy some. Overall fantastic trip - very much recommend.
Thank you for your kind comments.the cutlery is in the top door which when you open there is another one with cutlery in Property Owner

"Had a lovely break ."
Lots of lovely walks . Was quite lucky with the weather had a great time

"Apart from when you go in and need the key fob to get through the gate so it would be better if a keyfob was left at main desk because both being disabled if it weren't for another car going through no way could we have walked to lodge."
The repair we needed was sorted within a day to
Thank you for your feedback.I will look into the situation regarding the key fob for gaining access Property Owner

"Fantastic lodge, excellent accommodation."
We had a wonderful stay. Eden Lodge had everything we could need, loved by the whole family. Would highly recommend and will be returning. Ensuite shower is leaking and has caused damp. Didn't detract from our stay as there is a main bathroom.
Thank you for your comments,I have fixed the leak from the shower. Property Owner

"The property is absolutely beautiful we loved it, all up to date mod cons, very comfy beds, even our boxer loved it she snored all night."
One thing we did notice on the last night the shower is leaking in the on suite and in the bathroom. We would defo book it again.
-
"The accommodation was superb, every little detail has been thought of, all we had to do was provide the food & drinks!"
-
"The lodge is modern, light and clean with the kitchen area equipped enough to make the occasional dinner."
However there is a major issue with the beds. The mattresses are extremely hard, which I understand some people prefer but the small beds are uncomfortable as you can feel the springs through them. A day or two into the stay the lodge owner arrived with a new microwave as the previous one had broken which was a nice touch. There were dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, bin bags and sponges provided all which lasted the duration of our one week stay. There was also an attempt at providing tea, coffee and sugar, but it appeared they had been there sometime as the coffee had gone hard and sugar which started out granulated had turned into lumps. I think the lodge could benefit from a couple of finishing touches to make it better, for instance some coat hooks near the front door and individually wrapped tea etc. The leisure park itself is nice, and the few lakes were pretty, with the main lake having a small beach area which the kids loved. The club house/swimming pool area looked a little weathered and could do with a freshen up.
-
"Microwave not working - given that it's a self-catering cottage that's really a must."
Despite raising with the village office it wasn't fixed by the end of our stay. Office staff just shrugged it off saying we've notified the owner.

"Eden lodge, 21 Sherwood was well equipped and clean & tidy."
However, there were some problems: 1. no cutlery was supplied (maybe due to Covid-19), 2. the patio doors were very difficult to shut, 3. the bedroom (wall mounted) television was too close to the double bed (I cut my arm on the television trying to get past), 4. the first aid kit had a cable tie on it making opening difficult (I needed a plaster to put on my arm). Also the restaurant on the South Lakes Holiday resort was expensive (for a "pub type" meal) and the service was not good. The outside drinks service was quite good but again expensive.
