  • "Confusion on our check in!"

Then put in a so called up grade to The Coach cottage. On our return to the cottage.......no shower small bath, no fireplace, could not connect to TV, no DVD player to play any disc's that where available. Old furniture needs major upgrade for the price. Tried to contact Martin with NO response. We decided to leave the property immediately and found alternative accommodation. Sent Martin another message to advise him and requested a refund. ONCE again, NO response from him. Very disappointed!!!

  • "Negatives 1."

Property was small and would have been more manageable with less furniture. Sofa was uncomfortable and dirty. 2. Property was not clean with many flies present upon our arrival. Rotting food discovered below oven which I cleaned. Hairs and filth in the shower room. 3. Bed was unstable and slid away from the wall when I got in. Positives 1. The walled garden was delightful apart from the dirty pond which had a dead goldfish floating in it. 2. Being able to walk from the property up to the top of Hampsfell was good with a fantastic view of the estuaries

Just about 1/4 mile from Cartmel centre. We haven't explored this part of Cumbria before but well worth a visit. A day out at Muncaster castle is definitely worth it.

The cutlery was not very nice.no books or games as stated.we expected it cold in January but it was freezing downstairs and boiling upstairs as we couldn't turn radiators down, and fire wouldn't work.it was quaint and in keeping period wise. the bed moved away from walls as floor sloped and bed was on casters.the lovely ladies helped us out though.thankyou..please read ALL instructions though because I didn't read the bit about stripping the bed.really sorry guys. we will go again just not in that particular cottage.

  • "We booked the Milksmaid Parlour for a last minute break and we were absolutely delighted with the accommodation, the setting and the service we received."

The location is absolutely stunning with the most beautiful and peaceful gardens, setting and access to the public footpaths to the fells was a complete bonus. The cottage was really well equipped for a self catering holiday and literally had everything you would need included. The whole service from booking to departure was seamless and easy and we'd definitely recommend booking. The accommodation is located within easy walking distance of the village and with brilliant access to A roads for easy visits to other parts of the Lake District.

  • "Perhaps you should emphasise the spiral staircase."

It was no problem to us, however. Not a good place to be if the stay coincided with a wedding. Really convenient for Cartmel where despite two pubs being out of action at the moment there are plenty of alternatives. The racecourse is a good place to park as the charges are reasonable.

  • "We had a lovely time in the Milkmaids Cottage."

2 adults and a Jack Russell filled the space but the lay out is good and very cosy. We cooked in twice and spent some warm evenings in the cottage when there was still snow ( about a third of the peaks) covering the western fells. Take the hike to the hospice. Its a splendid view and there is a feature compass on its roof which highlights the all of the sights. We could see the Blackpool Tower looking over the sands. The quadrangle outside the front door is a sun trap. Good place to enjoy a glass of wine and some dips after a day of peak bagging. Nice site to base from.

  • "The kitchen was poorly stocked and the welcome pack was meagre and included milk that was out of date."

There was no salt and pepper or cleaning equipment except washing up liquid and a brillo pad. Due to the virus we cooked in more than normal and there was no frying pan just two griddle pans that were too heavy to pick up. We were attracted by the prospect of a whirlpool/spa bath. This turned ot to be a small shower cubicle with a very slow draining shower tray!! Unless of course we missed something!! The location was good and the staff we saw were friendly but overall the description was a little generous.
