  • "Four of us stayed at Rooftops from Fri 26 Jul - Fri 2 Aug 2024."

Three of us were taking part in the Montane Lakeland 50 / 100 Ultra marathon which took place Fri 26 Jul - Sun 28 Jul, from John Ruskin School just next door. Rooftop made this the perfect location to stay. We were offered an extra 5 days free whilst booking, which we took full advantage of to rest up and recuperate after the race. The flat was roomy and clean - a home away from home. The kitchen was well stocked and I've made a note of where I can purchase some baa baa sheep blinds and matching lamp shade from. There is a convenient space for one car outside, with additional parking available at John Ruskin School, less than a 5 min walk away. The flat is close to a range of cafes, restaurants, pubs, and shops, as well as the very popular Coniston Water and Old Man of Coniston.

  • "This is a wonderful property."

Be prepared for lots of stairs, no lift! Good work out! The property is in Coniston and close to all facilities. Great places to eat and access to shops and the lake. Grip strips on the stairs would help dogs etc, it does get warm when the sun shines but it’s at the top of the building! Gets traffic noise at certain times of the day, but is on the main road. Quiet at night. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return!

  • "We had a really cosy, comfortable stay at rooftops over Christmas."

Despite the weather being really wet and windy, we found plenty to do from the door and always looked forward to coming back to the apartment. It was surprisingly more spacious than we thought, and we liked the modern (but still really cosy!) approach to the decor. The place was really clean, and you wouldn't tell a dog had stayed there if, like us you don't have a pet. The only thing that we could possibly think of suggesting as an improvement is a washing machine, but we managed a week without and just made sure we packed plenty of kit. The bed was also incredibly comfortable which is a rarity in holiday rentals - this place is really a gem! Would 100% recommend.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at The Rooftops!"

The apartment is comfortable, well equipped, has beautiful views and a really great energy l, we didn't want to leave!! It is just an absolutely wonderful place. The only issue we had is on the Saturday night, the evening we ate at the property and stayed in to watch a film the electricity kept tripping out and all of the sockets would go off. It seemed to rectify itself after an hour or so, but it might be worth looking into. We will definitely be back next year!!

Thank you for the great feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. There was a power cut in the village on Saturday so I presume the problem was to do with that but we will get the circuit checked just in case. Property Owner

  • "Rooftops is an excellent property which is centrally located with wonderful views over Coniston and the surrounding hills."

It is extremely spacious and the kitchen is very well equipped other than perhaps a crash helmet for the roof beam! The water pressure is very good which is great for both the separate shower or lovely stand alone bath where you can relax and recuperate from any strenuous walks undertaken. I would have no hesitation in returning or recommending to others. Thank you.

Wonderful apartment in a fabulous location we had a very enjoyable visit only negatives were lack of power points in second bedroom and the stairs which after a day in the hills made for an extra challenge

There is a spare plug socket in the second bedroom and plenty of power points throughout the apartment. Just think about the stairs helping burn off those calories. Extra piece of cake allowed maybe ?? Without the stairs you wouldn’t benefit from possibly the best views from any accommodation in Coniston village Property Owner

so much so that the plastic/melamine covering on the front of the drawer has started to crack. I have photos if required. A couple of minor improvements would be : 1) a few more knives and forks. I think there are only 6 knives for example. 2) a sink strainer would help stop food going down the sink

Thank you for letting us know about the problem with the drawer front. This has now been replaced and a sink strainer provided. Property Owner

Everything inside had such an attention to detail and a quality, the owners have done a fantastic job of making the place feel fresh, comfortable and relaxing. We had more than enough space with 2 and a dog, plus the views ans the bathtub were a big hit (especially after a morning up Old Man!). Only reason I didn't give comfort full marks was that we were there during the hottest week of the year and being at the top of the building it was very warm. Having all the windows open helped a little bit but then the noise of farm traffic or people late at night could disturb you when trying to sleep. A fan for each bedroom would have helped lots. Totally unusual weather and it wouldn't stop me booking again but fans would have been good.
