"Lovely cosy cottage."
Beautifully presented and maintained. This was our second visit. Looking forward to our next one!!
-
"A very comfortable, warm, cosy and well-equipped cottage."
Perfect for two. Cottage owners live close by so are on hand if you need anything. Plenty of lovely walks from the cottage door.
-
"Lovely cottage, everything we needed."
Really warm and cosy, plenty of hot water... can't fault it
-
"Everything was great/ perfect cottage in a perfect location."
the only little gripe was the bathroom heater did not work ,so a bit of a cold time spent in the bathroom, otherwise fantastic and would certainly recommend and definitely return.
-
"Fabulous little cottage in a perfect location."
We wished we had been able to stay for a week here. So many walks nearby.
-
"High Head is a lovely cottage in the village of Keld."
Although small, it has been beautifully modernised so that it is well equipped with quality goods. It was a pleasure to stay in the cottage. There is parking directly outside the cottage and lots of wonderful walks literally start outside. One thing we missed was a garden so that we could sit outside. However there is a small community garden opposite. On a practical note there is no shop nearby. I did a 'big shop' in Catterick Garrison supermarket before arriving but I'm sure that there could be online delivery as well. The Community Museum opposite the cottage gives lots of insight into the history of the area so we enjoyed exploring the mining remains, as well as the waterfalls and footpaths.

"We had a lovely week at High Head."
It’s a very clean and comfortable cottage finished to a very high standard in the middle of stunning countryside. Great walks from the doorstop and we were lucky enough to see the wild flower meadows. We had a lovely meal at the local hotel but would recommend booking ahead as they are very busy during the summer months. Thank you so much Doris for the lovely cake, a real treat.
-
"Delightful small cottage with all facilities we needed."
Very clean and well fitted out. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at High Head
-
"Fabulous property in a beautiful setting."
The owners went over and above expectations, bringing cake and flowers. The cottage had everything we needed for a great short break away in the Dales.
-
"A lovely, warm, cosy cottage, described very well by all the previous reviews."
We would definitely visit again.
-
"Had a great week, cottage finished to a very high standard."
Would definitely use again.
-
"This is a lovely cottage, in a beautiful area, with walks straight from the door."
However, we found one issue - the cottage was cold. It had storage heaters and we were unable to adjust the temperature. The duvet was also fairly thin and there were no blankets or throws to use. Shame, as other than that, it was perfect.
-
"High Head is a fantastic two person cottage, it’s extremely clean with a fabulous, modern bathroom, the whole cottage is warm and comfortable."
The owners Stuart and Doris who live in the village are on hand if you need anything so if you like being in the upper Yorkshire Dales then High Head is the place to stay.
-
"High Head, well what do you say, I think all the other reviews say it all, everything you could wish for, a home from home with everything you could need for your stay."
No need to say more as you will see !!,100% recommend High Head as a great base for your holiday in Swaledale
-

The location is perfect for exploring Keld and Swaledale, and our hosts made us feel very welcome. We'd definitely return.
-
"High Head is of high quality in every respect."
It is warm, cosy and welcoming. It is situated in the most beautiful part of Swaledale and all walks are breathtaking. Doris kindly made us a delicious lemon drizzle cake which we enjoyed with our picnic every day and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would highly recommend and hope to return.
-

A really nice and well finished cottage, only downside would be there is no outside space which would be a shame in summer
-
"We found the cottage to be very nicely presented and suited us very well for our short break away."
Keld is a very good centre for walks straight out the door or a short drive away. We very much appreciated the lemon drizzle Doris gave us - thank you.
-
"Beautifully appointed cottage and spotlessly clean."
Great location for several local walks all result accessible from the cottage. It's quite a distance from any shops so luckily we arrived with plenty of supplies. It's a shame it didn't have anywhere outside to sit w with no back garden and the front is straight out into the road. Parking outside the cottage is on the roadside making it essential that you park as close to the cottage as possible as there is a lot of farm traffic throughout the day.
-
"A beautiful cottage in idyllic surroundings"
-
"Very cosy cottage, spotlessly clean, equipped and furnished to a very high standard."
It was easy to find thanks to good communication from the owners. Keld is a very friendly village and a great base for exploring Swaledale. We enjoyed walks to Muker and over to Tan Hill. Best to do some research re opening times for shops and pubs locally and book ahead for meals. Would love to return.
-

-

Ideal base for a walking or driving tour of the Dales. The owners,Stuart and Doris live around the corner and were very helpful. They even gave us a cake.Lovely touch. Would highly recommend this cottage.
-
"Wonderful comfortable accommodation."
Everything is top quality and the hosts who live in Keld were super friendly. They left a bottle of red and white wine for us to kick start our holiday and then delivered a freshly baked lemon drizzle cake mid week. Delicious. Don’t hesitate to book you will not be disappointed . We also sampled one of Doris’s home made chicken curries which was wonderful.
-

-

"Wonderful welcome from hosts Stuart & Doris."
Cake was delicious! Cottage certainly has everything you need. Cosy & quiet. Superbly situated for walking Upper Swaledale without needing to use the car. Spectacular scenery.
-
"Lovely cottage and owners."
-
"This cottage is superb."
A real home from home. Cosy and warm and finished to a very high standard. The owners Stuart and Doris live just round the corner and are such a nice couple, nothing too much trouble. Doris made us a yummy chocolate cake, which was much appreciated. Just a stones throw away from the Pennine way with all round beautiful scenery. Would love to go back under better circumstances due to Covid 19, as we would have loved to visit Ravenseat Farm which is close by too, but obviously is closed to the public.Would highly recommend.
-
"Lovely cottage very clean and tidy ,owner Doris came to see us and brought a lovely lemon drizzle cake, beautiful countryside all round most beautiful can't be beaten anywhere."
-
"Nicely equipped cottage, cozy and warm, tastefully renovated."
Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
-
"Lovely cottage very well equipped ."
We enjoyed our stay
-
"The holiday cottage is lovely with everything we required."
I loved the free standing bath! We brought our own cushions as these were not supplied due to the Covid. The country side was unbelievably green with hills all around. We did miss having a little garden but were able to go in the Community Garden just across the way. We had Wifi in the accommodation but obviously not when out and about. It's a fantastic place for walks and I had a bracing swim at the bottom of a waterfall!
-
"Absolutely adore this cottage!"
! It has everything you could need: comfortable bed & sofas after long days of walking, a fully kitted out kitchen (great for COVID times when eating out is more difficult) & a lovely free standing bath & shower for some relaxation. The small village of Keld takes you right into the Yorkshire Dales & is perfect for exploring. Lots of walks start from Keld to the surrounding areas & villages where you can grab a bite to eat in some great pubs/cafes. You are a short drive from some stunning locations such as Aysgarth Falls & Hardraw Force which are definitely worth a visit. The owners Stuart & Doris are lovely & are happy to help if required. Perfect cottage, perfect location & for us, a perfect holiday! Would love to return again one day!
-
"Everything about this cottage was quality, from the Denby crockery, to the bespoke solid oak kitchen units!"
The view from the front windows I could never tire of, and such as the wood-burning stove, 'sink-into' sofa was a sure fire method of sending you to sleep! Stuart & Doris live around the corner and couldn't be nicer; Doris even brought us a beautiful, homemade Lemon drizzle cake on our arrival to welcome us! The bed was exceptionally comfortable (oak of course), and with a great shower, roll top bath, the bathroom was quality. We've stayed in a few cottages all along Swaledale; this is small, one bedroomed, but this was all we wanted, and coupled with the fact this had close access to great walks with views, this is one of the best.

Definitely not High Head is just as advertised and is perfect for a very relaxing home from home break with superb facilities and hosts
-
"High Held is a lovely cottage perfectly located for some fantastic walks."
Stuart and Doris (the owners, who also live in the village) are lovely, and were very accommodating during our stay. I would certainly recommend Keld if you fancy a bit of peace and quiet in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
-
"Well equipped warm and cosy, just as described."
Thanks to our hosts for their warm welcome.
-
"The cottage was in a beautiful tranquil setting, it was finished to a high standard."
The owners had thought of every detail of what a holiday cottage should have and Doris even popped in to say hello and baked us a cake. 4 Stars from me. You can walk straight from the front door on the Pennine Way or down the dale to Muker and beyond, this walk is one of the prettiest you will ever see. A great cottage in a great location.
-
"From the minute we walked through the door our expectations were exceeded - the quality of the furnishings and utensils were exceptional."
Doris brought a fresh baked lemon drizzle cake round for us on Sunday evening and asked if all was ok - they have the B&B round the corner! The weather was too kind to us that we didn't have the need to light the log burner, however, there was kindling and logs provided should we have required them. Loved it!
-
"Perfect location for walking, cosy and well maintained, everything needed for our stay."
Freezer compartment a little small if taking frozen sticks though. Overall a great cottage.
-
"Very well equipped cottage."
A great base to explore a wonderful area.
-
"High Head was perfect for us, lovely quality cottage, nicely decorated and furnished."
The bed was as comfortable as home and the bathroom was gorgeous. What a pleasure to have a lie-in in the beautiful sunlit bedroom listening to the birds and sheep on the hillside, plus there was fantastic walking from the door. Do take what you need for the first day though, there’s not much in the way of shops but the lovely unspoiled village was one of the best things about staying at High Head.
-
"The cottage was very nice but the area far too remote, too far from any shopping"
-
"A beautiful cottage in a lovely village would definitely recommend"
-
"We booked the cottage for a 'Get away from it all' Christmas break and we weren't disappointed."
The house had been trimmed up for Christmas and the tree was lovely so it all looked very festive when we arrived. The heaters make the cottage very cosy and we didn't need to light the fire. The quality of the kitchen and bathroom fittings is excellent and the smart tv kept us busy too. We used the local bus to go to Richmond on Christmas Eve and had a lovely festive day in town. For the rest of the week we went on a few short walks. It was lovely to come back to the cosy cottage and the huge bath at the end of the day. Really enjoyed it!
-
"The cottage was very comfortable and very warm, we actually had to turn off some of the storage heaters even when the outside temperature dropped to -2c."
The location was perfect for walking, with a beautiful walk starting right outside the door. Our host Steve and Doris were very welcoming and came to check we had everything we needed, they are really nice people. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage and we look forward to going back again soon.
-

-
"Lovely comfortable warm cottage, beautiful location if you want peace and quiet."
Had a lovely week exploring
-
"This cottage was fabulous!"
It was beautiful, clean, comfortable, warm and with great facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly enjoy staying again. Booking with Sykes was very quick and easy, and I would certainly book again. My only complaint is that Sykes did not give me the full information of how to collect the key on arrival. I was just told to call the owner to collect it but when you get into the village there is absolutely no phone signal, and isn’t for miles. We managed to track down the owner in the viallage and sort the key, which worked out fine for us, but had he not have been there we would have been stuck until he got back.
