excellent location with beautiful views, hosts were welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. (Along with the dogs and turkey's). Great walks near by and lots of options for a nice meal out. Would go back in a heartbeat.

  • "Good base for exploring."

Comfortable property. Open fire was a real bonus as was the pool table. It would be helpful to let people know in advance that the meter for the tumble drier takes 20p coins. (We should have clarified before going as it just says 'coin operated' on the description and we assumed it would be £1 coins).

  • "Very warm welcome and clear information about cottage facilities."

Spacious lounge & dining area ( table doubles as snooker table which was much appreciated and used). Beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. This was a clever barn conversion and a real gem. Also more cottages on site, including suitability for less able people.

  • "Thank you for a warm and specious cottage especially during a week of wind and rain."

The waterfalls were spectacular at Cautley Spout, Hardraw Force and Stainforth Fosse. Wednesday was sunshine and blue sky; a real contrast! The nearby parish church was found to be open for visitors with several helpful art installations. Sunday worship was meaningful and well led. We can recommend Farfield Mill and Dent Heritage Centre. Those of us with hybrid cars would like to recharge overnight if possible? We love this location with majestic hills all around.

  • "What an amazing cottage and hosts!"

From arrival to departure, everything was perfect for us. The kids loved spending time with the two pet sheep, Alan was brilliant in allowing her to help with the feeding. The house was very homely and the addition of a pool table was a real bonus for a bit of down time and relaxation. The visit from the dogs every day really added to the friendly nature of the place. The cottage is a only a few miles from Sedburgh which has some lovely pubs, a fish n chip shop and a Spar. You're also only a few miles from the stunning Cautley Spout, a lovely short hike to a waterfall. Thank you, we'll definitely be back again soon.

  • "A lovely retreat, isolated from everything and pretty much everyone which is exactly what we wanted."

The cottage owners live next door and they couldn't have been more hospitable, checking several times that everything was ok. We had a lovely extended tour of the farm, were welcomed by the lovely farm dogs who came to greet us every morning and join us for breakfast, and we even got to see the sheep being sheared too. It's definitely on our return list next time we need to escape from everyday life for a while.

  • "Great location for the Howgill Fells and western Yorkshire Dales."

Much quieter than the Lake District but very good walking on the hills and in beautiful valleys, including from the door, in this area that seems to be a well-kept secret. Wildlife, birds and wild flowers in abundance. Peaceful location and good views, on a working sheep farm with (nice) farm noises and well-behaved sheepdogs. We had a restorative holiday here and would return. Some confusion caused by the agency's contradictory statements regarding facilities but all sorted out by the friendly and helpful owners.

  • "The property provided everything we needed."

The pool table was an extra bonus, especially for the rainy days. Owners were polite and helpful, although suggestions for improvements (for the shower) did not seem to be appreciated. The property is advertised with superfast WIFI. This was however not our experience. The WIFI was only available in a small part of the living room (sitting area) and nowhere else in the property, sometimes there was no WIFI at all and it was not very fast. This was a bit annoying as the mobile reception within the property was poor as well.

The cottage has everything that we needed. The kids had hours of fun playing snooker and loved the daily visits from the very friendly dogs (who love to play Football). After walking in the hills all day, the beds were well appreciated and very comfy. The cottage is well situated for ventures into the Dales or the Lake District. • "We have just returned from a 2 week stay in Sedbergh where we stayed at Brant View."

The cottage was amazing, exactly as described and more. There were 6 of us staying at the cottage, 4 adults and 2 children (14 &10) due to the size of Brant we never felt on top of each other and always had our space. Everything we needed was provided from towels to utensils. Mrs Joyce is so friendly and welcoming and was a pleasure to deal with from arranging the key collection to offering us advice in what to do and places to go. My 2 boys loved the daily visits from the dogs and were so sad to say goodbye. The cottage has some absolutely stunning views and is incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We would have absolutely no hesitation in booking again and highly recommend if you are looking for a trip to Cumbria and the Lakes. Sedbergh is a great little town, I highly recommend the local butchers if you require some meat (pies are incredible and cheap) and if you fancy a meal out you certainly can’t go wrong with the Italian Al Forno.

  • "We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Brant View."

The cottage really is like a home from home, we felt relaxed as soon as we first walked through the door. We were holidaying as a family of 5, the youngest being 8 and the cottage was perfect. The children loved being met most mornings by the Turkey sitting on the door step, or the very friendly dogs waiting for a play in the garden. The owners, who are very attentive but not intrusive could not have been more helpful, even taking in my washing when we were out and it began to rain. We holidayed during a hot, sunny and mainly dry spell and so did not need any heating on, there was however instant and plentiful hot water when ever we needed it. The windows in the bedrooms have wooden shutters which we all liked and we slept with the windows open and the shutters closed most nights. We went for a walk up the nearby Cautley Spout, Englands highest waterfall above ground and continued to walk on the fells when we'd reached the top. The Lakes are not far from the house and we had a swim in Wast water, England's deepest Lake. Closer to Cautley, Sedbergh is just a short drive away and a lovely village, lots of walks and playing in the rivers, it also has a great older style sweet shop....lots of jars of sweets on the shelves which the children loved. We had a wonderful and peaceful holiday at Brant View coming home feeling refreshed and rested.(The children did not want to leave, one cried....a true mark of a great cottage and holiday)

A comfortable barn conversion, very clean and spacious. Owners are very very accommodating and extremely pleasant. Their two sheepdogs are adorable. Being December the weather was cold and crisp but we were kept stocked up well with logs and kindling for the open fire - really cosy. The setting is beautiful with walks direct from the door. The athletic one in our party enjoyed the steep climbs around the cottage and spent most of his time walking. We visited a couple of the market towns and also the Lakes, we endured a white knuckle trip over the Buttertub pass in part icy conditions - not for anyone with a a fear of heights. Would definitely visit again.

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), set at the foot of the dramatic and wild Howgill Fells, is an ancient market town in northern Dentdale. Sedbergh is situated just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is only 12 miles from the Lake District National Park. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has an olde worlde atmosphere. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
