  • "Really nice place."

Clean, comfortable, quiet, modern and a good location. Also very good value for money comparatively. Would stay again.

So handy for visiting the places around . Highly recommend.

  • "Lovely peaceful location with nice enough neighbours very nearby."

Very pretty decor & comfy sofas. Unfortunately the main bedroom mattress was very worn, soft & saggy. The en-suite shower room was tiny but the shower itself was excellent. The other two rooms were small but the beds were comfortable. Curtains were all thin so we needed eye-masks otherwise we woke when the sun rose. Good kitchen utensils & book shelves well-stocked. Garden pretty but wall at the back rather low & with barbed wire along the top so we had to constantly monitor the long-legged dog. Not at all ideal for dog-walking nearby as no pavements outside of the close and surrounded fields full of livestock. Black Labrador pub round the corner was delightful.

Thanks for your feedback. To maintain the house at its high standard we have been busy refurbishing it. This includes: a new kitchen, a new bed and general decoration with new carpets. The farmer's field behind the house often has sheep and he has installed some barbed wire on his side to ensure that they do not escape. The Lake District in general outside of the main towns has no pavements or streetlights, it does though have many signposted paths across fields. Property Owner

  • "Lovely place to stay, quiet, warm (easy to use heating), washing machine (new) and dishwasher, lovely views."

Good pub within walking distance, comfortable beds. Very good access to Kendal and Southern Lake District. One small complaint (which we often find in holiday rentals): No storage space in bathroom - a bathroom cupboard or cabinet would be a great addition.

  • "Lovely house in great location."

There is waking from the door but it should be noted that its all through farmers fields, so something to keep in mind if you want somewhere to let the dogs off lead. Kitchen was fully equipped and the house was clean throughout. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "Great house, great location, great pub."

The house is very comfortable and well equipped, we had everything we needed in the kitchen, we loved the open fire and slept really well. It’s a very sociable house and was perfect for a family get together. The views from the house (especially the back garden) are lovely and there are some excellent walks locally. The village pub (Black Labrador) is very good but book early, it gets busy. We had a great week at Crag View relaxing, walking and eating

  • "General maintenance- I got an electric shock from the landing light switch !"

The shower door in the En suite does not close fully making showering difficult. We used the dryer as done a wash load . The filter was absolutely rammed thick with fluff. I we had gone out and left the dryer on I suggest that it might be a fire hazard!! Perhaps a note above the appliance might help. The dustbin was half full when we arrived. When we left, it was overflowing to the point we had to put stuff at the side of it and hope that it would be emptied

Thank you for your feedback Mrs Hutchinson. We appreciate the time taken to send your observations which we have now discussed with the owner and our maintenance team. We haven't had any reports from previous guests with regard to the light switch. The property has passed an annual electrical assessment and it was in working order on reinspection. The owners have taken on board all the other points you have raised and will action as soon as possible. Thank you once again for your feedback and we do hope to see you again in the future. • "Crag View was simply lovely."

It was the base for my walking holiday with a very excited black lab and was a lovely place to come back to every evening. There are plenty of walks in close proximity with some of the more famous lakes being within 30-45 minutes drive. Highly recommended

  • "We stayed at Crag View in Underbarrow for a week and enjoyed the time very much."

The property was clean and well cared for. The main bed was comfortable and we had wonderful and sleepful nights. Wildlife right outside the back door was fun to watch - sheep, cows, a pair of wild pheasants. The lambs were terribly entertaining. I posted on FB more than one video of their hi-jinks while playing. We enjoyed our time there and used it as a base to go out exploring. The house is well furnished with almost everything you need to prepare meals and live comfortably. We recommend Crag View.

About the location

UNDERBARROW

Kendal 5 miles; Windermere 7.5 miles.

Underbarrow is a quiet, pretty Lakeland village close to the historic market town of Kendal and within reach of the wonderful Lake Windermere. The village has a pub and is ideally placed for exploring southern Lakeland and the Lake District National Park. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, both with fine gardens, are nearby, and Kendal has much to offer in terms of shopping and is quite lively culturally, thanks to the Brewery Arts Centre and the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum, which is widely recognised as one of the best in the region. Also worth a visit is the ruin of Kendal Castle, which was formerly the home of Katherine Parr, and there’s plenty to see and do with Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel, Ulverton, Bowness, Ambleside and even the Yorkshire Dales National Park within driving distance. Underbarrow is a lovely base for exploring the area.
