  • "Overall we liked our stay in Woodloft Cottage and may stay there again in the future."

That said, when we arrived we were unpleasantly surprised by the amount of cobwebs along the ceiling throughout the house and especially in the bathroom. We also found a lot of kitchen utensils in the drawers that were not properly cleaned. Additionally, the ceiling is rather low for two very average Dutch people (approx. 1.81m tall), but this never really posed a serious problem after we got used to it. I did bump my head a few times on the low beams though. The cottage is very cosy and well-furnished. The kitchen and living room are well-equipped and the bed was fine. We did occasionally hear some noise from upstairs as others have pointed out, but this was comparable to the noise we sometimes hear from our upstairs neighbour in our own flat. Perhaps previous guests had the misfortune of having very noisy upstairs neighbours or the privilege of not living in a flat. All in all, we liked our stay in Woodloft Cottage and would recommend it to others.

  • "Excellent stay at Woodloft cottage."

Facilities very clean and comfortable. Great location. Some noise from upstairs but not sure what can be done about this. Oven gloves would be good. Lovely place to stay Thank you

  • "We had a wonderful stay at the property and plan to return."

The only feedback we have is that it would be helpful to make it very clear what is/ isn’t provided so guests come prepared. We have stayed before and washing up liquid/ some milk and coffee/ tea have been available for us but on this occasion we had to rush out to buy washing up liquid and toilet paper. Not a problem but would have liked to know!

  • "Wonderfully cosy and well equipped."

Super comfy bed. The cottage is in a fantastic location, lovely pub only a minutes walk away and well poised to explore the rest of the lakes! Would definitely come again!

  • "Very nice place and centrally placed in the village."

The listing says Chapel Stile but it is in Elterwater which was better for me! The key box was difficult to open for some reason. Very comfortable bed and snazzy en-suite bathroom. Parking is good and it has a very useful hall for wet boots and gear. Overall - very good.

  • "A few previous reviews have mentioned noise from the attached property but we didn't find this a problem at all."

I guess it depends who is staying next door! We found this property very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The shower especially good. The welcome pack is a bit sparse, only enough tea and coffee for a couple of drinks. No fresh milk r a bottle of wine which is provided by other companies! However, on balance, this is a good place to stay and we would use it again.

  • "The cottage is beautiful."

Well equipped and in the perfect location. But I could not recommend it and would not stay again... The noise from the house above was dreadful! They were by no means noisy neighbours, simply a family going about their business. But we could hear everything!! The opening of drawers, tap being turned on, the lid being taken off the kettle. Whilst lying in bed, we could hear their conversation, word for word. It was such a shame as the cottage itself is one of the nicest we have stayed in. But this, sadly, put a real dampner on our holiday.

  • "Place is lovely."

We also liked the area and the pub nearby. Chesters by the river also had great food and pastries. It’s a nice place to walk around. Very quiet, but ambleside is quite close if you want to go to a town. Only issue that I saw was the property didn’t provide any welcome pack or tea/milk, etc. Bring everything you need because there are no shops near walking distance. I think a small welcome pack would be a good touch by the owners. We always received it other properties and this one was lacking that. Other than that, we had a great stay here. Warning: it does get loud from upstairs and people kept moving furnitures around at night.

  • "A very enjoyable 4-night stay at the Woodloft."

Stunning surroundings, great pub 2 minutes away. Clean and comfortable property. No instructions for the heating or the tumble-drier, which gave up on me halfway through drying some clothes.

  • "Woodloft Cottage is in a lovely location."

There's no garden, but a bench nearby serves as a good location for a morning cup of tea overlooking the valley. Facilities generally good however lots of noise from the next property - they seemed to be constantly moving furniture :) Would return, however the full price I would say was excessively expensive.

  • "The cottage was lovely, in a great location and had everything we needed."

Very comfortable bed and view from main living area was stunning. Couple of minor issues - key safe was initially a bit difficult to open. The noise from neighbours upstairs was bit off putting at night. Only in bedroom but luckily we only had neighbours for couple of days of the holiday but would possibly put us off hiring that particular cottage in future
