  • "It's a lovely spacious cottage with good walks nearby."

    The garden is handy if you have dogs with you. Some lovely Christmassy touches as well. The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed. It took a while for the place to heat up - I think that was because it had been empty for a while. Apreciated being able to hose mud off the dogs outside. Would recommend.

This cottage is ideal for family or friends wishing to spend time together to enjoy this delightful area.

This beautifully presented cottage with period features such as beams, wooden floors, stable doors and a woodburning stove also has modern amenities and ample leather seating in the spacious sitting and dining area.

Upstairs you can enjoy countryside views from the bedrooms and sink into comfortable beds that also have a touch of glamour with the bed furnishing.

After your day’s activities return to this welcoming cottage and enjoy your favourite drink on the decking in the garden overlooking the fields and woodland and watch the sunset or hunker down in front of the woodburner.

With walking and cycling from your door, enjoy Farleton Knott where you can explore the dramatic limestone pavements and take in far reaching views to the lakes and Morecambe Bay estuary as well as Warton Crag and Arnside Knott closer to hand.

There are beautiful coastal walks in Arnside and Silverdale, an area of outstanding natural beauty, which is a short drive away and in Silverdale there is the RSPB reserve Leighton Moss.

In the opposite direction you can visit Kirby Lonsdale, a delightful historic market town with quality pubs, eateries, artisan bakeries, a chocolatier and a traditional sweet shop with all those childhood favourites in the ancient market square.

Devils Bridge runs over the river and you can walk alongside the river bank and take in the charming village and scenery until you reach the ancient church at the far end of the village.

At Carnforth you can relax and enjoy a leisurely pace by taking a canal to Lancaster in summer months or a train to the villages above or how about a trip up the west coast.

Kendal is a 20 minute drive away with both Levens Hall and its wonderful gardens and Sizergh Castle close by.

Windermere and Ambleside are also a little further afield to explore the Lake District National Park.

BURTON-IN-KENDAL

Kirkby Lonsdale 7 miles; Kendal 12 miles.

A small, traditional Cumbrian village set in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and the peaceful Forest of Bowland. The village has a Post Office/general store, a butcher and a pub that serves good food. It lies 7 miles from the lovely old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and 12 miles from Kendal, the gateway to the Lake District. There is easy access to many areas of interest, with the historic city of Lancaster and the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool all within easy reach. The acclaimed RSPB wildfowl reserve of Leighton Moss is only 4 miles away, while Morecambe Bay is also famous for birdwatching. Other locations well worth a visit are the villages of Silverdale and Arnside (overlooking the beautiful Kent Estuary), Ingleton, Settle and Clapham. Levens Hall (famous topiary) and medieval Sizergh Castle with a beautiful garden are nearby. Good pubs and restaurants are also abound in the area. There is plenty of good walking nearby, and golf, fishing and riding are all available locally.
