  • "Zero contact from the host, not even with check in details."

Had to call Sykes - wait for them to contact the host. Bedding & towels smelt very musty. Sofas very uncomfortable. Decor very tired & could do with updating

  • "The location of the property is perfect and in a lovely quiet cul de sac."

The owner could not be present at check in which we didn’t mind at all. However when contacted he asked me if we could put the bins out on Thursday. They actually get collected on a Wednesday-luckily the neighbour had put it out. I was quite uncomfortable with the neighbour directly opposite having a key to the property as they could see when we weren’t in. The ‘gym’ is pointless. The pull up bar is half hanging off the wall and unsafe. The patio furniture was in a pile outside and unusable. The toilet seat in main bathroom was dirty and broken. My daughter nearly hurt herself on this. The sockets in main bedroom don’t work-not one close to the mirror to do hair/makeup. The lights above the beds some work some don’t. There are no property instruction/welcome pack so we had no idea that the heating in the living/dining room was actually the skirting boards. The kitchen was grubby-used scourer pads and bits of ‘stuff’ just left on window bottom. The sofa in the living room is extremely uncomfortable. Both showers in bathroom and en-suite were dirty with the shower curtain over the bath needing to be thrown away with dirt and marks along the bottom. Every tap had limescale build up. We did enjoy our week away but did not enjoy our time spent inside the property. The smoke alarm upstairs is hanging off the ceiling-not sure if it functions. We did not contact the owner for any issues as we felt they could not have been resolved during our stay. The property needs a refurbishment.

  • "Good points - very clean."

Comfortable beds, nice garden. Good solid furniture. Beautiful area, with nice neighbours. 3 good Frying pans and one saute pan. Cutlery and utensils brand new. Bad points - no sockets work in ensuite bedroom. One of the double sockets in the kitchen doesn't work or the sockets in the garden nor one of them in the single room.. Only one pan, so couldn't do potatoes and veg, you had to pick which one you'd prefer. And there was no colander. One of the pillow cases in the double room had a lot of black stuff on it. The downstairs toilets overflow kept on going so the person above could not get to sleep for it. We couldn't get into the house till just after 4pm instead of 3pm. The cleaner and the owner finally left but had to call him back immediately as we couldn't get out the patio door, he came back immediately and fixed it. He then said his wife told him to cut the grass when he was there as it desperately needed done. We finally got the house to ourselves after 5pm. He did say we didn't have to leave until 11am on departure day instead of 10am. If all these were fixed then it would be an excellent house to holiday in. It's close to all amenities, superstore within 1mile, cleevlies and Fleetwood all within a few miles, and the big shopping experience at Freeport is just a few miles away too. The house is beautiful and spacious and room for 3 cars in the driveway. The

On the plus side, our local agent was on hand to provide extra towels.

  • "We had an absolutely amazing holiday in Cleveleys and Blackpool, the property is in an ideal location in a lovely quiet close."

Negative comments are the general lack of obvious cleaning prior to our stay I.e. dust and crumbs under the furniture, lots of cobwebs on the walls and ceilings. The owner mentioned that a gardner would visit as he couldnt come the week prior due to the weather (he never turned up) the garden was like a jungle but all the adjacent properties were well kept with cut lens. The garden furniture wad in a terrible state, totally unsafe for use. A number of light bulbs were not working also. Overall with a little thought and care this could be a excellent property, it's also the first property we have stayed at that doesn't supple a welcome pack or an information pack.

  • "Had a ok stay at 23 Wolsey Close."

It is situated in a nice quiet location about a twenty minute walk from the promenade. The house does need some TLC.Garden was very scruffy with no furniture, lots of bulbs not working, several of the windows were hard to open and shut, front door needs new furniture, not enough pans to cook a meal, sofas uncomfortable. We are regular users of Sykes and every property we have visited has a communication book from the the owners( detailing anything which may make our stays more comfortable) .This house did not, leading to a misunderstanding around where to leave the bath towels. These issues could be remedied very easily.

  • "Nice property."

Comfortable bedrooms, lovely kitchen. The elder children loved the gym and the young one loved the piano. The house is suitably located to Blackpool and Lytham St Anne's making it a relaxing family holiday. Also nice welcoming text message and phone calls from the resident owner.

Blackpool 4.7 miles; Preston 19.1 miles

Cleveleys is a bustling town on the Fylde Coast of Lancashire, about 4 miles north of Blackpool. There are a few interesting buildings and landmarks dotted about the town such as the Marsh Mill Windmill, an attractive part of Thornton Cleveleys heritage, and a Grade II* Listed building, which is opened as much as possible by The Friends of Marsh Mill. This is a local group foreseeing its upkeep and allowing visitors to see inside, and marvel at its fabulous and intricate workings. For car enthusiasts, the annual Cleveleys Car Show is on which hosts a wide range of vehicles including Classic Cars, Sports Cars, Modern Classics, American Cars, hot rod, kit cars and Specialist vehicles. Cleveleys seafront is just over a mile long, stretching from the boundary with Blackpool in the south at Kingsway, not far from Anchorsholme Park. Here you see the design of the sea defences, built carefully to keep the water out and prevent flooding. The promenade, cafe, water play area, artworks and easy access are very popular with visitors and local people. Jubilee Leisure Park adds fun-filled facilities with a children’s activity centre, cinema, pub and restaurant. The Affinity Shopping outlet is located next to the small and quaint, Wyre dock and marina for further opportunities to enjoy. Nearby at Blackpool, the seven-mile sandy beach and promenade offer donkey rides, fish-and-chip shops and theatres. Other landmarks include the Blackpool Tower, Blackpool illuminations, the Pleasure Beach, Sandcastle Water Park, the Winter Gardens, and Blackpool Zoo. The seaside towns of Lytham and St Annes-on-Sea nestle further along the spectacular stretch of coastline, a photographer's haven, lined with pretty parks, rolling sandy dunes and the Ribble Estuary Nature Reserve.
