"What a gem of a find thank you."
It is well situated to access the lakes. The cottage was so lovely. The welcome package was so appreciated. It’s the little things that make the holiday special. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Love the little lights in the bathroom. The beds were really comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped although the bottom oven didn’t work. The hot tub was great and very private. We will definitely use Sykes cottages again.

"Overall the property was great, great location and views, cozy inside."
Some issues seen 1) The kitchen blind fell down after first use. It seems the wall mounted hooks have an issue. 2) with respect to the hot tub there are few issues, (a) the cover is not tied to the handle so when the handle is lifted and out to a side the cover doesn’t stick to it and doesn’t allow to be rested against the wall half folded (b) the handle has come off from one side due to a loose screw, it’s looked like this before our first usage (c) the corner of the fence next to the stairs into the hot tub is quite damp, not great to have e kids around (d) the hot tub has some particles in it like dried leaves etc. (3) the wifi could be better, there was no reception from the garden. Overall it was a great accommodation, we would love to visit again.

"Lovely cottage but need instructions for things like oven and heating."
Had to Google for oven and tried turning up thermostat for heating but didn't work. Needs more coat hangers and shelves/drawers in bedrooms. Otherwise it was a lovely place to stay
-
"Excellent cottage."
Very comfortable beds and chairs. Excellent large towels. Ideal hot tub with scaffolding framework allowing disabled person to be able to get in and out. Only disappointment was the starter pack for the wood burner which was totally inadequate eventhough we had specifically requested it.
-
"Lovely, comfortable , well equiped cottage with the treat of a hot tub ."
Unfortunately the drainage in one of the en suites had a problem . The shower tray overflowed into the rest of the bathroom and the water in the toilet after flushing reached the top of the bowl which was worrying . I hope It was fixed because it was a lovely cottage .
-
"Overall lovely stay."
Wouldn't return due to the noise transfer between the wooden inter-connecting door in the living room to the nextdoor property. The noise from nextdoor was excessively loud where you could hear the TV and people talking quite clearly

"Had a lovely stay."
It was nice waking up seeing the sheep outside. We requested 2 cot beds and when we arrived they hadn't been set up but after ringing the office they sorted this very quickly (think they had been set up in the neighboring cottage by mistake) the site manager was super helpful. Used the log burner and hot tub during the stay which we needed due to the recent weather! Few maintenance notes - the headrest on one part of the hot tub kept coming loose we had to keep sticking back on. The bottom part of the oven also didn't work during our stay but we made do with the top part with no issues. A note to anyone taking a baby - the front bedroom is probably better as not as loud during windy weather! Would definitely stay again!
-
"Very happy with all aspects of holiday other than the shower floor in the smaller bedroom needs some attention and a knock the morning of our checkout would of been great as we were in the kitchen and someone was to the rear of the property were the hot tub was."
We understood things needed doing but just a little warning would of been nice.

"A lovely cottage ,tastefully decorated, a most enjoyable weekend way"
-
"Great stay and perfect little cottage."
Would definitely recommend!
-
"Fabulous property, all furnishings are excellent quality, perfect for two couples, with two good size bedrooms and en-suites."
The only negative was the hot tub wasn’t working the whole time we were there, we chose this property because of the hot tub and I’m sure we will have paid extra for this feature, very disappointing. Mandy

"We had an amazing stay in Bluebell cottage, the decor was done to a high standard, it was spotless and incredibly comfortable."
I did have an issue with the cctv camera and had contacted Sykes when I read other reviews about it, I wanted to know if the cameras were only for use when the cottages were empty but Sykes couldn't get hold of the owners after several attempts, I was offered the chance to cancel my booking but I decided I still wanted to go! Couple of things we felt the cottage could do with, hairdryer, barbecue, plastic glasses for the hot tub and a net to get the creepy crawlies out the hot tub! I spoke to the lovely maintenance man about the garden furniture been in the front garden rather than the back and he said guests keep moving it there but he did say he would have moved it into the back if we had mentioned it earlier. I would recommend this cottage and would return to it myself.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Bluebell cottage…."
It was cosy and comfortable and the views were amazing. The hot tub was fabulous and would definitely stay here again :)
-
"We had a lovely week at Bluebell Cottage - very clean, spacious cottage, fully equipped, lovely views of the sea and a great hot tub."
Great base to explore the local area - would recommend if staying with children taking some blackout blinds as it’s very light upstairs in the evening. Thank you for a wonderful break x

"We had a fantastic week."
The property was very clean and comfortable. Set out with extremely comfortable beds, and a soft snuggly sofa. The kitchen is well stocked. The only issue was the microwave which didn't heat food up properly, then overheated and turned its self off for a few minutes. The hot tub was wonderful and there were automatic outdoor lights when it got dark. It is possible to hear the neighbours talking when in the living room, as walls are quite thin. Bangs of the doors, echo upstairs too. The surrounding area is quiet and as you park off the main road, it is easy to go out for the day and avoid heavy traffic. If you are hoping the pub is close enough to walk to its not, but there is a pizza takeaway you can walk to. Overall a fantastic break away in a cosy cottage.

"Another wonderful stay at Bluebell Cottage"
-
"We really enjoyed our stay at Bluebell Cottage."
Overall it's lovely and comfortable and made a great base for the week. The cottage was refurbished in 2016 and is fairly well maintained. Beds and sofa are comfortable. Hot tub is showing signs of wear and tear but didn't stop us from enjoying and using it. Having the option of the adjoining door is great for larger groups, but it did mean that we could hear every conversation and phone call our neighbours had and they could likely hear us too. The furthest we ventured was up to Pooley Bridge on Ullswater which is 1.45 hr drive from the cottage with current road closures that last until 2024. There are some great places to visit within an hour's drive of the cottage on Windermere and Coniston.
-
"A wonderful holiday cottage, recently upgraded and new furnishings."
A quiet location, beautiful views and a hot tub perfectly located to relax in. Don’t be put of by the camera comments, it didn’t make us feel uncomfortable at all.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay at bluebell cottage."
Thought the internal layout was excellent and spacious. Loved being able to have the choice of bath tub or shower both en-suite. Also views from both bedrooms great in different ways! Also must not forget to mention how lovely it was to have your own private hot tub. Cottage placed in a great area to use as a base for exploring the lakes, especially Windermere and Coniston and surrounding area and villages. So many thanks from us Steve & Edwina for making this week so enjoyable..
-
"Excellent facilities - we really enjoyed our stay and would love to be back one day."
Couple of minor issues/queries that were addressed straight away, will definitely recommend to others.
-
"We had a really lovely stay here and the property was clean and welcoming."
There was 1 minor improvement which is needed: the bathroom door in 1 bedroom was very stiff and therefore made a horrendous loud noise when trying to close - not ideal during the night time. Otherwise I would have liked to give a 5* review however there is CCTV directly pointing to the hot tub (with full view of entering the hot tub and the garden) which is NOT specified anywhere when booking or within the house (I checked thoroughly). This immediately made our party feel uncomfortable and therefore not enjoyable as this is an invasion of privacy. It is within my understanding that you cannot record someone without notice, however there are lots of similar previous reviews therefore doesn't seem that the owner is rectifying this. For this reason, I would not recommend this property as I find this very strange.

"Unfortunately we had to leave a day early as we had no heating or hot water."
With the temperature dropping we had no choice but to leave. We did try to contact Sykes numerous times but to no avail. Overall a beautiful cottage in a stunning location but the lack of heating an hot water at the end of January is not something I would like to repeat.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay at Bluebell Cottage, all the amenities we could want and the cottage was extremely comfortable."
It is in an extremely good position o the coast road which is quiet but easy to locate. Thanks

"Hot tubs need a trellis cover in freezing conditions, water temp wouldn't stay at 38 degrees"
-
"Thankyou for providing the space quietness comfort of all the luxuries of a home the hottub was splendid high quality and sheer luxury the views were amazing and omg that bed I wanted to take it home there were some little hiccups but nothing that would spoil the holiday the couch is still broken probably due to people standing on it to open the window but still perfectly comfortable I'd move it more out so the window can be reached."
Would be nice if some little luxuries like shower gel and shampoo were provided and thankyou for providing bottles of drinking water. Seen some amazing sun sets and sun rises. An holiday that shows England at her best the hit tub is amazing in winter clear skies never have I seen the stars and moon so bright and clear amazing part of England.
-
"Lovely weekend catching up with old friends, the cottage was perfect for a nice relaxing weekend."
The sofas are comfy but do seem in need for a replacement, up on arrival the heating was off and took all evening & night to heat up, but once it was hot it stayed lovely and warm throughout our stay. The TV in the lounge is quite slow, but it did not impact our stay. The beds were so comfy, and the en suite bathrooms were nice and clean. The hot tub was such a treat and we would recommend property for a nice relaxing weekend.
-
"Had a lovely few days in blue bell cottage, very well equipped from a cooking perspective, beds super comfy and a real luxury having a bath in each bedroom."
Log fire was lovely with an adequate amount of kindling and fire lighters. Didn’t experience any issues with the dishwasher or tv. Hot tub was amazing, stars are spectacular too- although it would of been great to turn the out side lights off. My only one complaint is that a shower mat I really required, we had to use one of the spare towels from the bedroom we didn’t use Overall a lovely cottage we would certainly stay again

With taking two teenagers with us maybe update the tv’s they were dared to smart tv’s they wanted to watch tv but we’re restricted to just normal channels when the weather was bad and couldn’t go out much

"We had a really disappointing experience at Bluebell Cottage."
The listing and price point imply you will be getting a higher end cottage but unfortunately the reality does not match up with expectations. After reading some of the previous reviews it is clear the owners do not listen to feedback or address issue’s highlighted by previous guests. The settee is still broken, there still isn’t an adequate starter pack for the fire (just a few logs and a bit of kindling - no matches or firelighters), the heating is sporadic, the cottage was dirty (rubbish left in wardrobes, dust thick enough to write in and the cottage smelt), the oven door still comes off and their are still cameras pointing at the hot tub. To add a new one…the dishwasher only works intermittently and is very difficult to get on when it does. All in all a very disappointing stay. We would not return.
-
"The hot water issue was addressed, so will not dwell on that."
The accommodation was of a very good standard. A towel rail/stand would have been helpful as would basic condiments in the kitchen. Otherwise very happy with the standard of the cottage.
-
"Lovley cottage , shower was amazing."
All in all spotless. Cleaners did a fantastic job. Bed very comfortable. Slept very well. The only downside was the sofa still needs replacing. Interesting to see the photos by the fridge of what it used to look like.

"We absolutely loved our time at the Bluebell cottage."
We arrived on the Monday and had a chilled day after a long drive. A few drinks after dinner we were in our very comfy beds passed out. The private hot tub helped massively our time here after long days out and about, the facilities were great for our needs and clean too. The cottage has amazing views and weren't too far away from what we had planned to do the Tuesday and Wednesday, I highly recommend the safari and the steam train to Windemere. The cottage has great location as a base and I got bonus points with the inlaws by choosing here and volunteering to drive on the Wednesday. We got the weather eventhough it was September. The bath was amazing too The cottage itself had only 2 flaws, one of the sofas sounded like the wood was needing repaired and the floor needed a brush when we arrived. The other issues aren't their fault but I'll mention as a pre-warning. The beach isn't soft sand so take wellies, the week we went the manure was being sprayed so one night we couldn't use the hot tub because there wasn't any wind blowing away the smell and kettle takes ages to heat up water for tea I honestly hope to come back here in the near future, especially in the summer and for longer as there's so much to do also it's a great get away if you need away from a hectic lifestyle. We feel so recharged after it all
-
"We had a wonderful time and very pleased with the accommodation."
On arrival the blind in the blue room was broken. A bath mat included in linen. A corkscrew would have been useful. We bought a coffee plunger which we have left for others to use. Minor things which certainly did not deter the pleasure in our stay

"Absolutely fantastic property."
We stay in the highlands, my sister and her fella stay in London, so it was a great meeting point. Exactly as the property is described. I was a little concerned after reading a few bits of feedback, however on arrival to the property couldn’t believe what a little gem it was and such a reasonable price for all we had. Had an amazing seven day stay, cooked twice in the property a full English breakfast and a evening meal no issues. Ventured out practically every day. went boulder hopping to the local pub twice The farmers baycliff which is fantastic find, great staff and fantastic food. The road outside isn’t particularly busy but it is a very fast road so anybody with children I would recommend supervising when leaving the property. Straight across from the property are walks, beautiful scenery and loads of outdoor space. Found the property really clean. Sofa bed under the window moves when you first sit on it however very comfortable and as long as you don’t spend your entire stay on it, not an issue. Shower in the bedroom overlooking the front of the property the grout around the plug is starting to give way. never had an issue with flooding as we put the foot towel in front of the shower to stop it splashing out. Due to extremely high winds the boiler went off our second night so the following day there was minimal hot water however the response on a Sunday from the owners was fantastic and because we wash regularly to go without a shower for four hours wasn’t the end of the world. Hot tub is a great addition, as previously stated by another visitor somewhere to hang towels outside would be a bonus, we took the drying rack out and just placed our towels on that. We had a young couple stay next door, the only time we heard them was when our bedroom window was open fully because of the hot weather and their bedroom window was wide open, no impact on our stay. Took a walk down to the moat farm, who do takeaway food. we popped in for ice cream. The blind in the bedroom with the bath in front of the window is white and let’s a lot of light in, so we used the base to the cot to prop up in front of the window to help black it out, again not a major issue. Would definitely recommend, will definitely be back, Really enjoyable week, fantastic property.

"As I'm allegic to dust, noticed as soon as I entered I started sneezing."
Surfaces had alot of dust on them. There were ants in the kitchen and the 2 seater sofa felt as if it was about to break every time you sat down. One of the bathroom showers (the one overlooking the front of the property) didn't drain very well so when showering you ended up with overspill into the rest of the bathroom. The other bathroom door was stiff and stuck slightly when closing. Not a major issue but the noise it made did made you cringe slightly. Enjoyed our stay but due to the location on the road, not able to walk anywhere and a car would be needed to venture out.
Thank you for your feedback. It's a shame to hear that as we have never had these issues before and have been noted to our excellent cleaning team. The issues mentioned were very quick fixes that would've been attended to if the owner was informed during your stay. Additionally a new sofa was ordered to the property after your comments. Thank you again for the feedback and we hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

"Only problem we have is second day of our arrival (very early Saturday morning) the road outside our property was getting resurfaced which left our white car full of tar and other stains, which we couldn’t get off ,our windshield 2 days laters we’re still struggling to clean the car ."
-
"Lovely little cottage, and the views were amazing!"
The kids loved the hottub!! The beds were comfy, would definitely recommend.
-
"Well will be booking tne same cottage for next year break so it must be ok"
-
"We had a wonderful weekend away here, it has a really cosy feel to it but equally luxurious, the bedrooms especially are just beautiful I don’t think the pictures do this place justice."
The view & surrounding area is breathtaking we had some lovely scenic walks. Will be booking again for sure. The only thing I think could improve future visits would be the addition of sky tv more so if I was to return with my children.

"The property, on face value, looks really nice."
Beautiful views and well equipped property. The let down, and will prevent a return visit, is the following points. A very cold front bedroom that has a hole in the apex which allows a loud whistling of the wind and noise if the traffic through preventing sleep. The pillows are hard and lack any comfort, ended up using a blanket. There is a chip in a few tiles of the bathrooms. The bath in the front bedroom is nice, however, on emptying it the draining making such a loud noise that you cannot hear the tv (or the wind from the roof) for a minute or 2. The heating is very hit and miss, either too hot or too cold. Warning, nothing heats the front bedroom, its the hole that needs fixing. Only one sofa is usable as the other sofa is broken, On our return, reading other feedback, this has been the case since at least July 2021. All sounds from next door can be heard, everything, including general conversations. Definitely not peaceful This is not luxury, its nice, but definitely not luxury or worth the price we paid for the stay. How is that restful, peaceful or relaxing when you feel heard by neighbours, unable to sit where you want and unable to sleep in the bedroom of choice. So, what was meant to be a quiet, relaxing weekend ended up not being the case and spoilt a major part of our stay and treat of a break. The accommodation was not relaxing and definitely not peaceful or luxurious as stated in the description. Very disappointed
-
"The cottage is absolutely lovely."
The garden area at the front and back of the property is a great size. The location is wonderful. When there was issues with the property, the turnaround time was amazing and the issues were quickly remedied by really lovely people. It is a shame there’s only 1 dvd player and it isn’t downstairs as it would be lovely to relax watching tv in front of the fire, Freeview is a bit lacklustre. Smart tv’s with even just iPlayers would make a big difference. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

"Property fantastic, a few small things that need attention, the oven door came ..."
Property fantastic, a few small things that need attention, the oven door came off in my hand but the maintenance guy fixed it the same day and there were some loose tiles in our shower but it definitely did not take away from the beautiful property nor did it impact our stay in any way, I also think bathmats could be supplied the floor is quite slippy when wet we used a hand towel again it wasn’t a game changer
-
"Absolutely loved our recent stay at bluebell cottage."
It was everything it said in would be. The only thing there was no mention of was the fact it had an induction hob...we had taken couple of our favourite pans but couldn't use them. The other thing no instructions about where to put your rubbish or a recycling bin. Other than that it was perfect.
-
"Beautiful cottage."
Everything we wanted and more. Spotless, spacious, cosy, lots to do within a small drive. Hoad Hill, Fell Foot and the beach. Hot tub was immaculate, full kitchen and m and s and aldi short drive. TiP!! : When trying to find it search for Moat Farm Cottages as all the other addresses on conf emails sent us to the back streets of the village. Particularly late check in.
-
"Starting to look abit tired, one of the sofas was broken, flooring needs to be redone."
Mixer tap in bedroom 2 was very difficult to adjust and stuck on ver hot.
-
"I would have gave full marks for all if the log burner had the stuff to use it from the starter pack that should have been there, apart from that it was really good, hot tub was great, cottage was great, log burner would have been great, location was class so quiet just the dissatisfaction of no one sorting the problem or getting back to me after I raised the issue first night."
Apart from that was a great stay
-
"The cottage was lovely."
My only feedback would be to have somewhere to hang your towels outside when using the hot tub.
-
"Absolutely fabulous!"
We stayed in Bluebell cottage and it was wonderful. So clean and welcoming. It had everything we needed. The bath tub was incredible! Agree with other comments about having some coasters to protect your lovely furniture. I will absolutely be recommending. Thank you for a lovely stay.
-
"The cottage is absolutely beautiful."
We really enjoyed our stay. We had our 2 year old son with us and he enjoyed every moment. The only slight issues were that one of the sofas was broken so was uncomfortable to sit on. Also the time in which is allowed between check out and check in is 7 hours and yet we still found hairs in the shower and crumbs on the rug. However this was not enough to affect the enjoyment of our stay. We will definitely be recommending.
-
"Cottage was beautifully presented with everything u need for a comfortable stay ."
Both bedrooms were spacious great views with ensuite so no arguments when choosing. Would definitely recommend and stay there again
-
"There were a few problems with the cottage- one of the upstairs veluxes would not close properly and the oven door came off when I used it and we didn’t have any starter pack for the fire, however none of this detracted from what is a beautiful cottage in a superb location!"
We had a lovely comfortable stay. The cottage was really cosy, the hot tub was fantastic, the bedrooms were huge with lovely baths- we loved the location and walking on the beach. We had a lovely week here and will definitely return.
-

Fantastic cottage had everything we needed beautiful layout felt very homely and comfortable hot tub was well maintained and very very clean only thing that we feel should be there are table mats or coasters we were nervous about ruining a lovely dining room table and coffee table and loved the hoover haha thank you for a wonderful stay
-
"A lovely cottage in a lovely location, convenient for visiting the Southern lakes."
The cottage was thoughtfully decorated and considerately kitted out, leaving nothing wanting. Some road noise when outside at the front of the house was not a problem and to be expected. A wonderful, powerful hot tub at perfect temperature and watching the sun go down, or the stars, was just the ticket after a day’s walking and the fire was very easy to get going and maintain. We’ll be returning!
-
"The cottage was in a great location and very well equipped."
Hot tub was an absolute bonus and we used it every day. One issue at the cottage was the very uncomfortable sofa which had obviously been damaged by a previous occupant and does need looking at especially if there are four adults. However that didn’t spoil the experience and we would visit again. The whole booking was well managed by Sykes cottages and I would definitely use them again. We managed to visit lots of different places that’s we’d previously never been to. Great experience.
-
"Sofa needs looking at, the springs under the window were broken."
It took 4 attempts to get hold of someone and multiples key to attempt opening the interconnecting door between Bluebell and Primrose cottages, they couldn't find the correct keys, so in the end broken the locks on the door. Blind in bedroom (with bath in front of the big window), needs replacing lets in too much light, suggestion of a blackout blind is required to make stay more restful. Otherwise the cottage is well equipped and lovely
-
"The cottage was lovely but walls are paper thin."
You can hear every word from both sides as if in sane room. Might I suggest that guests are told to try snd respect noise levels. First night no sleep as hen party from the adjoining cottage. Third night no sleep as the ladies were partying until 4 am shouting “Alexa” for their music all night. Plus the frying pan is not compatible with the hob. Rooms were roasting hot, maybe supply a fan. Plus problem with flies. There weee loads of them snd two bottles of fly spray did not get rid of them. Also a suggestion is a table and chairs out the back near hot tub be good. Plus a washing line outside to dry clothes as nowhere to dry them. Netflix or Amazon Prime on all TVs be good too.
-
"Everything was lovely with the cottage, unfortunately there was no mention that ..."
Everything was lovely with the cottage, unfortunately there was no mention that I could see of the extremely busy road right outside the cottages which spoiled the sitting outside experience as it was very noisy and the racing drivers that would speed up and down at all hours of the day and night, there was also no where to walk to as the road was too bust to attempt to walk on, had I know this I would have opted for a different place
-
"Our stay at Bluebell Cottage was amazing."
Very peaceful surroundings easy to find and great facilities. It would benefit from some toiletries (ie shower gel which we’ve had to go back to shop to buy). But that was only a small inconvenience and overall stay was fantastic and worth coming all the way from London for. We’ll sure book again.
-
"Lovely cottage with lots of space, very clean and well presented."
Lovely rural location with views or the coast, countryside and animals. Only things that let it down were the lack of privacy in gardens when using the hot tub - you can see through the fences and hear everything your neighbours are saying. Also things like bin bags, dishwasher tablets and toilet roll were not stocked up so we needed to buy our own.
-
"Lovely property in a great location."
Beach is accessible nearby and outside space was great. The furnishings themselves were all well thought out and very comfortable. Gorgeous views of the countryside! The owners were responsive and helpful with any issues. We had a lovely stay here- thank you!
-
"The cottage was in a beautiful setting."
Spotless with very good facilities. The hot tub was a great bonus. We did have an issue with the back door however this was sorted within a couple of hours. Staff we had dealing with and correspondence with Sykes was very professional.
-
"We had both Bluebell and Primrose Cottage and we were absolutely delighted with the standard of both cottages."
The cottages were extremely clean and well maintained. The beds were so comfortable, though the duvets were very warm. The hot tub was an excellent addition and we used it often. We will definitely go back
-
"Restful and peaceful holiday"
-
"First experience of cottage rental and I loved."
The location and cottage were beautiful, the owners helped us out with some queries about the hot tub quickly and without issues. The cottage was extremely nice, decor, facilities and cleanliness it was a fantastic break Just wish we had booked it for longer.
-
"Fantastic stay at Bluebell Cottage, stunning property and exceeded our expectations."
Really comfortable and everything we needed was there for us. Highly recommend
-
"Cottage was as described."
Very good facilities, a very pleasant stay. Blind needed fixing in master bedroom some of the jets not working in hot tub (minor problems) overall excellent cottage, would visit again
-
"On arrival at the cottage it was clear that it had not been cleaned since the last occupants."
There were dirty towels in both rooms, smears on the showers and sinks in both bathrooms and the bed sheets were also stained. There was also left over food in the microwave. The owners confirmed they were not expecting anyone till 4 days later which led us to believe the cottage had been double booked as we had booked for 7nights - at this point the cleaners were booked to arrive the following morning and we were offered vouchers for a later date so we did not cause a fuss. On the third day we attempted to use the hot tub which was in a very bad state. The handles on the lid were torn and the lid itself looked as if it was broken in places. We decided to avoid using it and to speak to the owners however the lid got jammed between the hot tub and the wall and despite our best efforts we could not pull it out. In the end we had to wait over an hour for someone to come to force the lid out, which required someone jumping on the lid to force it to move. This caused it to break apart even more and resulted in the hot tub water becoming cluttered with foam and dirt from the lid. We were reasured that someone will come to drain and restore the tub with a new lid the following day, but this did not happen. We then had to leave a day early due to circumstances at home, the owners promised a 50% refund due to the poor experience we had during our stay. It is now 2 months down the line and we have yet to receive the refund despite trying to chase this with the owners who are now not resonding to messages. The cottage itself is beautiful and is perfectly located and with the option to connect the linked cottages it was ideal for a larger family visit. Unfortunately due to the poor service we will not be visiting any of these cottages again.
-
"We were very impressed upon arrival at how amazing the cottage is."
..it really has been finished to a very high standard and was all the luxury we hoped for. Unfortunately this was over shadowed with an issue with the drains which left us disappointed with the experience of having to report an issue and not really getting much back. I was told they have had no issue with the cottages of late and I can imagine that to be the case. They did send someone to see us, he left us with drain unblocker which didnt work. So for the weekend we were unable to use both showers, we had to get more drain unblocker, the toilets were not flushing as they should and one bathroom floor remained soaked all weekend. Initially I had called thinking the owner would appreciate knowing the situation as it could be damaging the bathroom and also that we were paying customers experiencing a problem. It appears neither were of concern. I called back to update having used the drain unblocker and was told they would do their best but hadnt had any issues all year. From that point I have had no contact at all. I have sent an email as I'd rather deal with the issue in private but I've had no reply. I wanted to let them know how disappointing this situation has been for us all as it overshadowed what could have been an amazing stay in what has the chance to be a wonderful cottage.
-
"Was exactly as described down to the letter, absolutely no issues at all, my only request would be that on the website you could put no bathroom amenities maybe as I have e never stayed in a place like this before it's not expected but I was expecting soap for the bathroom for a bath/shower which wasn't available however a short drive fixed that and it was a perfect weekend, thank you."
-
"A beautiful, cosy, clean cottage in a fabulous location."
Stunning views from the bedrooms and a hot tub in the garden to top it off! Beds were incredibly comfortable. We have stayed at daisy cottage before so wanted to try bluebell and it did not disappoint. Would definitely go back again!
-
"This was our first time with Sykes cottages and we were unsure what we need to bring with us ie hand soap dishwasher tablets sponges etc it would be nice to get a basic list of what is supplied in the cottage and what we need to bring."
The bathroom tiles were very very slippery when wet and we would recommend you bring a bath mat overall nice cottage with peaceful surroundings
-
"Had a fabulous week beautiful cottage with stunning views great location."
Hottub was amazing well needed after exploring the lakes.
-
"A few things in the listing not entirely accurate."
Listing says a pub is a one mile walk away. The nearest pub is at least two miles and with young children definitely not walkable. The road has no pavements and is quite treacherous to walk on. Also DVD player listed is t plugged into anything....with good reason. It can’t be used with2 out of 3 of the TVs. Not ideal. Only compatible solution was in one bedroom. Would have been nice to have somewhere to sit outside in back garden where hot tub is. Saves people dropping all over the house and presumably sitting wet in the sofa. The house had a strange smell possibly from previous user cooking spicy food or possibly from adjoining property. Not sure. And the bathroom tiles upstairs are high gloss which makes them frighteningly slippy when wet......there are no duck boards or bath mats so you just have to be VERY careful! It’s a beautiful location with the beach very close. Quite isolated. Not sure I would return but I did enjoy our holiday. I think by listening to the feedback from their clients the owners could make this place really brilliant.

"Property a little bit further from the beach than description leads you to believe."
Calling the group of properties Sea View cottages is a bit of a stretch.

Lovely cottage but negatives are by a busy road and parking can be difficult, had a fault with tv and took two days to fix despite reassurances it would be done the following morning no view from outside hot tub
-
"We loved the cottage with the exception of the internal door which leads to adjoining cottage."
We could hear all conversations which our neighbours were having so obviously vice versa. This resulted in us feeling a lack of privacy and unable to relax. Also another disadvantage was the parking facilities. One more point is the kick board under the sink unit. It needs attention. Apart from these points everything else was amazing.

"Very warm and cozy cottage with the added bonus of a hot tub!"
-
"It's a nice cottage but the walls are just too thin, we ended up hearing being able to hear every noise from next door."
One word of caution, we were unfortunate to have a couple of days of really bad rain, not really a problem as this is England but it did bring out some of the country smells ig you get my meaning that meant we decide not to use the hot tub. Speaking of the hot tub, it did spring a leak when we were there, but full credit to the owners once we let them know the organised someone to come around and fix the issue within the hour, pithy it just to two attempts to resolve the issue. On the whole, a nice cottage well kept and well equipped but, just missing that little bit extra,
-
"We had an issue with the heating and it was sorted immediately we phoned, excellent service throughout, and immaculate property."
Our only comment would...be needs a shaving socket in either bedroom and a plug socket by the dressing table in the bedroom with bath in window, otherwise perfect

"Our second time at Bluebell Cottage and as before we couldn’t be happier with the property."
Spending NewYear there was really special, the cottage has everything we dreamed of! There was even a Xmas tree waiting for us! Loved it!

Beds were very comfy and the cottage in general was very cosy!!

"We have had the best time staying here at Bluebell Cottage."
The location is simply perfect for exploring The Lakes with the added bonus of being along the coast road with sea views. The weather was extremely kind to us, cold but with lots of sunshine which enabled us to make the most of each day. The cottage was warm, cosy and well equipped with everything we needed. Really comfy sofas and beds. Taking a bath whilst watching the cows and sheep in the field was something we don't get to do everyday and of course, the hot-tub was a great hit with the whole family. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful, we have simply had a most wonderful holiday. Thank You!

"Excellent stay at the cottage."
Loved the space and views; our children thought it was the best place they have ever stayed! Could have done with a few things like extra toilet roll, black bags etc. We would love to come back sometime!
-
"Beautiful cottage, clean, comfortable and well equipped."
One thing that would have made it perfect was a downstairs loo. We had a really lovely week there. I absolutely recommend it.
-

"Wonderful stay in Bluebell cottage, great location, made good use of the hot tub."
The cottage has been finished to a very high quality standard, didn't want for anything. Will recommend.
-
"What a lovely cottage built to an extremely high standard with very good quality fixtures and fittings."
It could be even better with a few minor additions:- Bath sheets instead of bath towels, a shelf for toiletries and a bin in the bathrooms. One other thing to note is that the walls between the adjoining cottages seem to be very thin and if you have noisy neighbours you can hear them. All that aside we had a fantastic time at the cottage, loved the hot tub and we enjoyed fantastic weather too so we felt totally relaxed. Loved it!
-
"Bluebell cottage is very well appointed and done to a high standard."
Everything you could need for a break away. The hot tub was fabulous. The bedrooms are a good size and well soundproofed. Would definitely come back and recommend to friends and family.

About the location
ALDINGHAM
Ulverston 5 miles.
On the coast looking across to Morecambe Bay is the small village of Aldingham, said to have once been a mile long but, as legend says, many of the early cottages were washed away by storms and tidal waves. Aldingham had the reputation of being a smugglers’ village, with brandy from France and tobacco from America supposedly hidden in the church crypt. The village is close to the spectacular Furness Abbey, and the ancient market town of Ulverston is just 5 miles away, and still has an authentic feel and community spirit. The town boasts a street market every Thursday and Saturday and many festivals throughout the year, including an amazing lantern procession in September and a superb Dickensian weekend on the last weekend of November. It is also the birthplace of Stan Laurel and home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! With all the attractions of the Lake District National Park and the sandy beaches and good birdwatching of the Furness coast close by, this quiet and peaceful area has plenty to offer!
