"There was a few issues with the apartment, but overall there was a lot of positives, compared to the negatives."
Firstly, without a car, it's quite a way out in terms of the walking distance, specially in bad weather. Secondly, the door lock is extremely stiff, and needs immediate attention, thirdly, the noise issues due the thinness off the walls, your able to hear everything from the apartment above, can be disruptive to sleep. Fourthly, the tap in the kitchen needs securing and tightening up, and lastly, the wood burner in the living room as no specific manual/instruction leaflet for the guest to know how to use this, which the guest/s can experience the coldness of the apartment in the evenings. Furthermore, the heating was timed to come on between 10.00 am until 6.00 pm in the evening, with the rest of the evening having no direct heating, which was extremely cold and chilly. In short, the rent of the apartment cannot be justified positively, it was too expensive, if you take into account the issues mentioned above. The positives however are the beautiful views from the apartment location, the calmness and quietness of the location, and the extremely comfortable bed, very lush and warm.
We are glad to hear that you found plenty of positive things about the property, but sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied. We have made a number of improvements to the property since we took it over, and we do aim to help all of our guests have a great stay. To address your specific points:
1) the property description clearly states that it is “close to Coniston” and that it is 0.8 miles to the nearest shop and 0.4 miles to the nearest pub. Many people enjoy the semi-rural location with views towards the lake on one side and the field on the other. The walk to the village, along the path of the former railway, is one that many guests enjoy.
2) we will take a look at the door lock and the kitchen tap.
3) We are sorry to hear that the property was not as warm as you would have wished. There is no wood burner at the property, but we do have a gas stove as well as gas central heating (as stated in the description). The property is kept cooler when it is empty, but the expectation is that guests will adjust the central heating to suit their needs during their stay and then revert it to a cooler setting when leaving. There is also the option of using the gas stove, for which the manual is kept in the kitchen drawer with the others.
4) We are sorry to hear that you thought the rental was too expensive. We believe it is very competitive with similar properties in the area, and we have kept prices quite stable over recent years despite large increases in costs for cleaning, utilities and the like.

Well stocked and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it for a holiday.
The door was hard to open with the key sometimes. Could do with a sign saying low Dow Cottage at the front. The postman found it hard to find.

Just a couple of details to bring to your attention. The path leading round to the entrance was quite slippy and the porch light under the french doors was not working (bulb). We will be back next year to stay, it was the perfect bolt hole for us and met all our expectations.

"Just spent a lovely week in Low Dow Crag cottage ."
Extremely clean very comfortable well equipped accommodation in a beautiful setting. Two very minor niggles the bedroom needs blackout curtains and the toilet flush is a little temperamental. Would definitely stay again. Coniston is a great location for exploring the Lakes. Great pubs for eating out after a long day walking.

"A lovely warm, quiet apartment in a good location for walking from the door."
The TV is a bit old fashioned with limited channels, work space in the kitchen area was also limited. The extractor fan in the bathroom needs attention.

We have added extra shelving in the kitchen too.
We hope the TV offers enough variety for those rainy days when one cannot enjoy the fabulous surrounding outdoors, however we will look at options to enrich the DVD collection.

"Very clean & comfortable."
Ideal for walking - 20 minutes to Coniston village on old railway line. Follow advice and take a torch as the lane is unlit. Access at the rear of the property.
