  • "We had a lovely week for the Easter break at Don's Lodge."

    We have stayed at Whitecross Bay numerous times and this lodge was one of the nicest. It was clean, spacious and is a great location on the site for us as our girls like to be close to the park! Loved sitting outside when we had some warm days and seeing the bunnies running around. Showers were great and the bed was really comfortable. I would highly recommend and would look to return again :)

  • "We enjoy the Lakes and have holidayed at White Cross Bay 3 times now and this is the best lodge we have stayed in, well maintained and equipped."

    It has good wifi, despite what the listing says, and a guest membership at the nearby Choices Health Club which we used 3 times rather than the on site swimming pool. We walked round Grasmere (lake and village), took in a sunset cruise on Windermere, visited Keswick show, made chocolates in Hawkshead, followed the Stick Man trail at Grizedale, had coffee and cake at the Bluebird Cafe at Coniston Jetty, always a must ate at Dodds in Ambleside and visited every playground in between. Good holiday.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Don’s lodge."

    Beautifully presented from the outside and gorgeous on the inside, modern but very comfortable with everything to hand. Very clean upon arrival. The lodge is in a really good position on the site, close to amenities and only a 5 minute walk to the lake. We would definitely come back again. We loved that we could walk 15 minutes up the road to Brockholes which saved us a lot on parking as we were there a few times doing activities. Overall we loved it.

  • "This property is "out of this work" for the modern way it is decorated."

    Just like home from home. The only problem is it's a private owned property on a Park Dean site which is a very busy place, including dogs. Well positioned for all the area around to go and visit along the busy side of Windermere.

The property

Don’s Lodge is a welcoming retreat resting right next to Windermere Lake in the heart of Troutbeck Bridge, within the stunning Lake District National Park.

Ideal for friends and families, this quaint little property offers a slick single-storey layout and hosts several on-site facilities including a restaurant, pub and even a pool for when you fancy a dip! Inside, you will be greeted by the spacious open-plan area, where you can unwind in the sitting room in front of the Smart TV and toasty electric fire after a day of exploration.

The designated chef of the group can prepare delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen, to be enjoyed at the dining table or outside on your private spot of decking when the sun is out.

Alternatively, when the sun is rising on your day, enjoy your morning coffee whilst taking in the sunrise from the decking. The property boasts two well-appointed bedrooms, each fitted with a Smart TV for your entertainment.

The double bedroom benefits from an en-suite, complete with a walk-in shower, offering a private space to prepare for the day.

The twin bedroom is equally as inviting, providing a flexible sleeping arrangement for younger guests or even friends sharing. In the surrounding area of Windermere, you will find a wealth of attractions and activities to occupy your time.

White Cross Bay

White Cross Bay holiday park nestles on the shores of Lake Windermere, midway between Windermere and Ambleside, in the Lake District National Park. Consisting of many lodges, it offers a restaurant, pub, shop, entertainment room, amusement arcade, indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, children's staffed activity centre, marina and outdoor play areas. Lake Windermere, the largest and most popular in the area, boasts a wide range of lakeside activities from walking and cycling to rowing, horse riding, taking a trip on the steam railway, plus lake cruises from Bowness to the pretty village of Ambleside and down to Lakeside, which has a celebrated aquarium. Children will also enjoy The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere, where technology brings her characters to life, and Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, with its Treetop Trek aerial adventure is a short walk away from the site. Park Rules and Operations – White Cross Bay

White Cross Bay has its own onsite facilities. You will need to purchase a complex pass from reception which includes the use of the pool, entertainment and access to bar and restaurant. The prices are subject to change by park management.

All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.

Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are not be left alone in the lodges at any point during your stay.

You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.

Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.
