  • "Lovely cottage, good facilities but dissatisfied with the cleanliness."

Used sanitary towels left in the en-suite bathroom which is a bio hazard. Informed the owners but they told us there was nothing they could do. So we had to put up with it which I find unacceptable and therefore cannot recommend. Other items missing off the inventory and the en-suite large shower head does not work. For the amount of money charged they should be able to carry out repairs.

Thank you for your feedback, it is always useful. Unfortunately , your insights were only shared after you had finished your holiday. You had all of our contact details and we pride ourselves in responding and trying to solve any issues quickly for our guests. We have previously had an excellent cleanliness rating and the bin not being emptied was unacceptable, but we were not informed at the time. We have, of course, spoken to our cleaners so there is never a repeat. The shower does work and it was user error to not get the water feed through. Again we could have helped with this. Finally, we always ask all guests to advise us of any breakages or gaps in our inventory so we can replace quickly. We didn’t know there were gaps. Thank you for highlighting to us and we will resolve. We are very sorry you experienced these issues. Property Owner

  • "Last minute decision to get away and decided on The Lakes and 1 Sunny Point Cottages just ticked all the boxes for us, parking, dog-friendly, woodburning stove (not that we used it in the end, the underfloor heating was great) and centrally located, and being close to a pub was a bonus."

We were not disappointed and are even thinking of a return visit with family later in the year. Well-appointed, nicely decorated, warm and comfy. We had some lovely walks, along country lanes and lovely, well signed footpaths without having to get the car out. We even saw some deer. The Sun Inn just down the road was very welcoming, with a roaring open fire and loads of character and very dog-friendly, very nice food too. All in all a charming cottage, a credit to the owners who have beautifully renovated it, a real labour of love. Thank you, we hope to return. Have a good season, Angie and Rich (and Honey and Sadie, our Romanian rescues) x

It felt like home as soon as you walked in, with a lovely welcome pack. the kitchen was well equipped and lovely to cook in, with the family feel for games night. The fire was great as it kept us snug after cold wet January days out, and we all slept well in the amazingly comfortable beds. The cottage is situated in a great location for exploring the lakes with a lovely cozy pub literary 5 minutes away serving perfect pub grub. We will definitely be back.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we are so pleased you loved the warm Cumbrian cottage. We’ll let our cleaners know too about your excellent feedback. • "Lovely property in an ideal location, majority of it was excellent, everything you need in the kitchen comfortable beds and nice bathrooms, which is most important."

Nice cottage lounge, which i never used as out all day, and evenings we went to bed after cooking evening meals as we were shattered after long walking days. Cottage always felt warm and cosy. We did have a couple of niggles but this would not stop us from staying again, as issues which can be easily put right. These included a hoover that did not work, my husband had to clear the blocked tube, clean filter, empty full canister of dirt and unravel hair and dirt wrapped around brushes, however it still did not pickup and we resorted to a sweeping brush. Some cooking utensils and pan in oven we had to wash before use as thick with grease and food residue, downstairs loo under seat was stained and not clean, unit tops under chopping boards full of crumbs, so I completely wiped unit tops down. Corners in rooms had small webs so i did sweep a few corners. Just general cleanling routine of cleaners needs addressing, nothing detrimental to the accommodation and we would return. The front door lock needs some attention as very difficult to unlock from inside, i think the door has just swollen in wet weather. There is a washer-dryer that takes a small load 4kg, but takes an age to dry, there is however an airer which we used and placed in front porch and washing dried while we were out. Did not like the table top ironing board, would have preferred a stand alone type. There was a dishwasher which we never used. There are several high steps or a steep slope to access the cottage but if you have no struggle walking, again this would not be a problem, but worth considering if you struggle. No problem for young families. Parking is in a layby on a quiet back road, front road is busy and fast, this was not a problem for us, we supervised 2 dogs when let out for a wee but garden not suitable for young children. I would definitely recommend as a nice place to stay, just sort the cleaners please, who appear only to be doing a ‘what they see’ clean. I would have given 5 star if cleaning had been better.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. It is a shame it didn’t meet our high standards as most of our guests love the cottage. Our cleaners have been informed of your concerns and we have personally inspected it. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous property."

The owners have made their holiday cottage a true ‘home from home’. It’s been beautifully renovated, whilst exposing some of the original features of the property. Thank you for providing such good quality beds; it certainly makes a difference! The owners are very attentive and made us feel very welcome. The road is rather busy, but it was half term and the weather was better than abroad, so no doubt contributed to additional traffic! On saying that, we were out most of the day, so it didn’t bother us and was much quieter from 6pm. The whole property was very well-equipped. The only things we missed were a bbq and fizz glasses. I would highly recommend the cottage and would love to stay again. Thank you.

Sarah, thanks for your lovely feedback, we and are cleaners always try to go the extra mile so it’s great to hear it is appreciated. I’m afraid we haven’t a BBQ due to insurance but can certainly sort out ‘fizz flutes’ next time you join us. X Property Owner

Really beautiful cottage, so nicely done out, a modern and luxury feel but still with traditional features. We were so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! The fire was amazing, and underfloor heating very much a bonus. The ‘main road’ outside the house is a B road, no streetlights and isn’t busy. Cars are going past from time to time but it didn’t bother us at all inside the cottage. The personal touches were much appreciated, thank you to the owners. Highly recommended all round.

We didn’t have the best weather whilst there, but as we had our dog with us we still got out every day for walks - coming home to the cosy surroundings, especially the underfloor heating and fireplace, meant we soon warmed up! We also loved the fact that the kitchen was so well stocked in terms of utensils, pans, ovenware etc - really felt like a home from home and made it easy to prep meals of an evening. Location was great - close to Kendal, Bowness and Windermere for supermarkets (we love a Booths!) and other shops, but in a quiet little hamlet that meant you benefited from the peaceful surroundings. Parking was no issue - the lay by directly behind the house always had space. The cottage is on a main road, but it’s not very busy at all so this didn’t detract for us. Would love to go back and highly recommend!

Large enough for our family of 6 and 2 dogs with ample towels , a kitchen with every cooking tool at hand and beautiful comfortable bedding. Excellent location too, with beautiful walks but close enough to many of the towns, We have stayed at many holiday cottages but this one is up there as one of the best . The kitchen appliances were all very good. The cottage was cleverly designed to make the best use of the available space. Provision of coathooks was brilliant. Limited storage space in the bedrooms due to their size. Kichen would benefit from a storage cupboard for food, eg no bread bin. Nervous drivers may be troubled by the access to and from the road. Howver overall we enjoyed our holiday in the cottage and appreciated the lovely views around.

Hi Michael, thank you for your insights it’s always useful. Unfortunately a couple of the items we can’t address as these traditional Lakeland cottages are quaint and small but Sunny Point is more spacious than many. We’ve managed to have a wardrobe in each room with hanging space and shelves and there is usually space under the beds for your luggage. In the kitchen there are 2 pull out baskets for the storage of bread, tins or fruit and veg. The cottage has off road parking behind it and to get to this you take a fork turning off the main road. We can understand that if you wish to turn right onto this front road from the rear of the cottage it is a sharp turn. If anyone feels nervous about this then we suggest turning left and turning around in the pub car park 200m and then back up the road in that direction. Property Owner
