  • "I booked Horsley Hall for a family celebration over the New Year."

Our party of 18 adults and 3 children enjoyed our stay. Comfortable beds, plenty space for everyone and everything that we all needed. Excellent toy/games cupboard which we all had fun with. Loved the log burner in the big dining room. We would all recommend Horsley hall as place for family gatherings.

Eastgate is a small village in Weardale, County Durham, popular for walking and cycling. The village once marked the eastern boundary of Stanhope Park, the scene of many grand historical hunting expeditions. The village is also famed for being the birthplace of Emerson Bainbridge, founder of the world’s first department store. Eastgate is set in rural countryside and is home to a pub/restaurant, historic church, Roman altar and hidden waterfall; further amenities can be found in the village of Stanhope, three miles away. Stanhope is described as the "Capital of Weardale" as it occupies a sheltered position on the north side of the Wear at the confluence of the river and the Stanhope burn. Stanhope is home to the Durham Dales Centre, offering tourist information, local craft and gem stones for sale and a coffee shop. In addition it offers places to eat and drink, art galleries, specialist gift shops, boutiques and food and wine stores.
