  • "Another lovely stay in this beautiful cottage."

We have stayed here several times before it is so convenient to get around from here and some lovely walks nearby. The cottage is immaculate and supplies everything you might need loving the new suite in the cosy lounge. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Many thanks for your lovely feedback. We try to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as it can be and we really do listen to the comments in the book we leave in the cottage with any suggestions. Hope to see you back soon. Property Owner

This is our 4th stay in this cottage & my parents love everything about it. We loved the new reclining sofa & chair which is a wonderful addition. Looking forward to coming back again next year.

  • "The cottage was great for the price I paid for the week ."

    Was comfortable and had pretty much everything you needed.just a couple of things not too impressed with .1 was the 3rd bedroom. In the basement it smelt musky and damp and had paint coming of the walls.thus is where my 2 sons slept the week and they said that it smelt aswell 2 nd was the parking yes the cottage came with a permit for parking but trying to get parked in that small road was not funny .we would be out all day and come back no where to park so had to park in another road most days.and move my car later to avoide the parking restrictions. Would I stay there again in winderemere no I don't think so.m wilson &sons;

  • "Our second stay at Charlottes Cottage for 4 nights this time and a fantastic stay, lovely central location, permit for parking is a huge bonus, we parked the car on arrival and used public transport for the duration of our stay."

Some reviews have mentioned about the front door being a challenge to open, seems to have been fixed as we had no problems whatsoever and there seems to be a new sofa and chair with electric recliners. Shower head could possibly do with replacing though as it does tend to dribble a bit. Small welcome pack with teabags, bin bags, sachets of milk, and a small washing up liquid on arrival was a nice touch, looking to rebook next year again

It was the perfect location for us with shops and cafés aplenty. The property was exactly as described, clean, welcoming and homely, we felt very comfortable here during our stay.

Can't understand why some reviews were negative and picky. It was so clean and comfortable, had everything we needed, the quality was of a high standard and the Xmas decorations were lovely. Its a great location, walked everywhere so didn't need to move our car.Weve stayed in lots of cottages in Cumbria but this is up there with the best. We hope to return in the future.

  • "It’s a lovely Cottage."

I’ve stayed here three times over the years and appreciate the extra homey touches the Owners provide. It is a bit annoying though that someone who works close shows up several times during the week with her “Beamer” and takes parking space in front of these Cottages. But that’s her rudeness. Not the Owners

  • "Enjoyed our stay and the cottage fulfilled our needs."

Cottage was clean. Excellent location in the centre of Windermere and near the train station/ bus stop for easy access to Bowness/ Ambleside. Can walk to Bowness also. Limited parking on the street with permit as it's central, but permit allows you to park on other streets within the zone.

    Reviewed by Daniel4.7Sep 2022

  • "Only problem was the parking."

Not enough spaces in the street for all the cottages so lucky to get and keep a space for the duration of the holiday. If anyone had a disability it would make things hard for them if they could not park right outside. This should be made clear on the site so people know that although there is parking outside with a permit it doesn't mean they will secure a space. Other than that lovely cottage close to amenities, very clean and comfortable. Also the basement bedroom is not suitable for sleeping in as very cold and could feel the damp cold in the air and on the duvet even on a red hot summer day so couldn't sleep anyone down there for the full week so if you were thinking you had 3 bedrooms for your guests you only really have use of the 2 upstairs bedrooms.

  • "Property was clean and in a very good location, but far too many personal knick knacks and photos of the owners /and their family everywhere."

The sofa has seen better days / not very comfortable and the mattress on the king size bed was very hard indeed which meant we ached and had reduced hours of sleep. Also missing any sort of welcoming touch - most other places we have stayed have left a bottle of wine or at least a pint of milk and tea / coffee but there was nothing here.

Very comfortable and clean. Only slight issue was parking (even with permit provided) but that was expected with it being a popular area. Would be very happy to return

  • "My friend and I booked to stay here and although the cottage was comfortable and in an exceptionally good location there were a few niggles."

The main one was actually getting into the cottage in the first instance. I’m in my mid 60’s and have stayed in many locations but this front door had us stumped. After a phone call to Sykes and some fiddling around we managed to get in. By this time both ourselves and our cases were soaking wet. We decided on a cup of tea before we went to Booths for supplies. We were both disappointed and a little surprised that there was no hospitality tray. No milk, tea, coffee, bread. There were two old looking teabags in a tin and some dried up coffee. The next challenge came trying to get out of the cottage. Difficult when there is no handle on the inside. We worked it out eventually but our first night was spent worrying about access/exiting. All of this could have been alleviated if we’d been given instructions. As I said the cottage is in a great location and ideal for the bars and restaurants. We didn’t need the fire which was fortunate as no wood was supplied. Plenty of hot water and comfy beds. As this property is a holiday let I’d take out all the family photos as that was a bit weird. I’d recommend a stay here but take my comments into consideration.

Thankyou for your comments. The cottage is our 2nd home and that is why the family photos are up. Property Owner

  • "Very cosy and comfortable."

Great location in Windermere, not far to walk from the train/bus station, restaurants and cafe's on the doorstep, yet it was a very quiet location. Kitchen fully equipped, fast wifi, helpful staff (who showed us the trick to opening the front door {pull door towards you and turn the key to the left at the same time} and who quickly organised for the shower to be fixed when we requested it be looked at). A few easy walks around the area (e.g. Orrest Head, and down to the lake). Buses available to other areas of the Lake District were also close by. My friends and I really enjoyed out stay. Had some trouble paying online via Booking.com which made me panic a bit, but found the phone number given for the Sykes Cottages and they sorted it straight away. I would advise to book through Sykes Cottages site instead!

A few things would make it even better. A better welcome pack, more information, a hairdryer would be great, more than 1 toile roll. Recommendations for food & drink would be helpful. We would defiantly come back x
