• "The location was very pretty."

  Although not convenient for a walk to a pub for a meal. Or a close shop. It is a property that needs a car. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The cottage was lovely and warm. But, it was a great shame that we had to leave after four nights due to the sofas being so uncomfortable. You hit magma when you sat down.! I did bring pillows down which helped a little. We are active 70+ year olds who prefer a little more support but these sofas locked any support. The cottage was sotless. I am sorry to include the negatives but I have been asked by Sykes to review. We are used to leaving holiday cottages tidy but have never before been asked to strip the bed and put in bags for the cleaner. And to use the garden furniture we were asked to erect the table ourselves and get chairs from a shed. I did look in said shed and didn't fancy doing anything with the "furniture". There was however a comfy bench to the front of the property. Other little niggles that we had would probably not bother someone else. So, all in all it was not a cottage that we would go back to.. When we left we found two nights in a hotel to finish our week. We were lucky with the weather, but not so lucky with the choice of cottage.

  We were saddened to read this review on our cottage. We always take any concerns raised very seriously. When I spoke to Mrs Chamberlain on the telephone a week before the visit she did say they had driven past the cottage, so they were well aware of where it was situated when they booked. I did ask if she would be prepared to bag the dirty washing to help our cleaner and asked if that was okay. If she had any objection to doing that, it would have been perfectly fine. I have checked with previous guests regarding the comfort of the sofas and they assure me that they are very comfortable so perhaps Mrs. Chamberlain has specific requirements. We are very sorry in this case that we could not fulfil her requirements. Property Owner

  Spotlessly clean, well equipped and full of character, there is nothing we could fault. We strongly recommend Silverdale as a base for wonderful, easy country walking and Pye Hall Cottage is a very pleasant place to come home to.

• "The cottage is cosy, comfortable and very well equipped."

  The parking area is fine for one car but may struggle with two. The only downsides were (a) the wi-fi didn't work in certain areas, the rear bedroom particularly, and that is a miss in a village like Silverdale, where the mobile coverage is so poor, and (b) the tumble dryer didn't work. The location is quite isolated and it's a good 15 minute walk to the village centre. Some, however, may consider this a bonus!

• "A very comfortable and well-equipped cottage, and a very helpful owner."

  It's quite close to Silverdale railway station, and very close to a bus stop, so suitable for public transport users - we don't have a car and could easily get to all the places we wanted to visit, such as Arnside, Warton Crag and Grange-over sands - and there are plenty of delightful walks from the door. The only slight drawback is that the cottage is next to a road, not a very busy one, but with some traffic noise.

  ..the bed was really comfortable. Kitchen very well equipped. We had awful weather (shame) so we didn't get out & about, but if you like games there's plenty to choose from.

• "Pye Hall Cottage was perfect for a few days."

  A lovely little cottage. We particularly enjoyed the kitchen, bathroom (run the hot tap slowly if you want a bath as it comes through hotter this way) and main bedroom. Close to the road but not too much of an issue. Owner and housekeeper very friendly and helpful.

  The cottage is ideally placed for walkers and bird watchers with Leighton Moss RSPB down the road. As is Silverdale rail station for trips further afield. Lovely views from all directions. We had a great holiday in this AONB as the book says ‘don’t rush by on the M6!’

The points that he raised have been addressed and we are looking forward to seeing him and his wife again in the New Year.   The surroundings of the cottage were amazing. Great views from the private tranquil garden. Perfect for relaxing away from it all. Lots of wildlife. Everything was catered for. We stay in holidays cottages at least 4 times a year and this was first class. Felt very reassured with the Covid precautions in place. Immaculately clean. The owners were most helpful and leant us a book on the Silverdale village history which gave us an excellent background to the history.

  Beautifully renovated and the owner shared the family history about the cottage which was lovely. It's location is perfect for hiking and exploring the Lakes and surrounding areas. The cottage is perfect for hiking and there are a lot of public footpaths in natural settings.

  Easy walking distance to RSPB Leighton Moss and Silverdale Station for trains from Manchester and north along the coast, Arnside and Ulverston by train are great for a day out. Eaves Wood and Gait Barrow walks start just across the road.

We were keen to revisit the local area we know well and walked every day within a 5 mile radius of the cottage. Silverdale, as ever didn't disappoint, nor did the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  The views and local walks were lovely with a great variety of landscapes, including woodland and the coastline of Morecombe bay.. Leighton Moss is also within walking distance and well worth a visit for bird watchers and nature lovers. Silverdale provides good facilities for meals out and is a proper village We love both Silverdale and Arnside and very likely to book a return visit.

• "We had a lovely time."

  It was our first holiday as a family of four. The booking process was easy from start to finish and we happened to be there at the same time as the owners. They are lovely people and they were so friendly. Unless I missed it in the manual, we were not told that there was garden furniture in the shed which we didn’t discover until the day before we left. The cottage itself is charming and very well equipped with everything that we needed, and more. The facilities for children ( travel cot, stair gate, plastic crockery and booster seat) are so helpful. We look forward to coming back again.

  We had fantastic weather. The only thing that caused any problems was the rather low door on the outside store when I forgot to duck ouch! Did not spoil our fantastic break. Thank you to the owner and housekeeper who do a fantastic job.

  I was particularly taken by the area/ location , to be able to enjoy so much by walking from the cottage or by a VERY short drive was wonderfully relaxing. The presence of the sun always helps shinning in through the the kitchen window in the morning and later by the most spectacular sunsets. Stunning ! Loved the layout of the garden / cottage facilities etc ..this is ridiculous ..EVERYTHING was just right for us!!
