  • "Wow!!!"

. This place is an absolute charm. A beautiful setting with a perfect location. If you just want to park up and walk the lakes with a rucksack then this is the place. A romantic little getaway whilst holding all the charm of the lakes in this property, a proper home to home vibe.. and the patio with the views in the morning was a perfect way to start our day! The walks from your door are too endless to mention. Five gold stars for the owners of this one.

  • "The cottage is excellent, comfortable and warm."

The conservatory is a real bonus and adds greatly to the appeal of the place. Location could not be better with walks starting straight from the door. Only slight niggle is the size of the sink in the bathroom which is little small and made difficult to use by the single tap in the centre. This won't stop us coming back.

  • "We liked the stables at oak bank."

It was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a little small and we did not benefit from the tiny cloakroom off the lounge. The TV was also tiny and outdated - It would benefit from being larger and smart. A larger wardrobe in the bedroom would also help. The conservatory was good and car charger was a bonus.

  • "Fabulous cottage - tucked away in a quiet corner of Elterwater yet perfectly positioned for exploring the endless hiking in the area."

Local facilities are also excellent; a couple of pubs and a small shop all within easy walking distance after a long day on the trails. Will definitely be back.

  • "Where to start, everything we could have wished for."

The conservatory was amazing, to star gaze on a night. The weather was very kind to us. It was so good to be able to park the car for the whole week and be able to have really lovely walks and pubs, cafes and a shop all within walking distance. The cottage itself was very well equipped and comfortable, especially the bed, like home from home. Also there is a very good bus service from the village. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. The perfect get away to chill and relax.

  • "Beautiful house in a beautiful setting."

Very clean and very well equipped. The exterior is traditional Lakeland stone, the interior is modern and very well done. The house must be well insulated as it soon warmed up and stayed warm even during the freezing weather. We used the log burning stove a couple of times during the coldest of evenings only for ambience, the central heating is modern and very effective. Comfy, cosy and Ideally situated, it was perfect!

  • "We had a fabulous stay over Christmas, it even snowed on Christmas Day!"

Adrian dropped round to check we were comfortable and left us a gift of a bottle of wine. That, along with the excellent cottage facilities and its superb location provided us with a Christmas to remember. Many thanks, Adrian, we hope to return sooner rather than later.

About the location

ELTERWATER

Great Langdale 2.9 miles; Ambleside 4.2 miles; Grasmere 8.2 miles.

Elterwater is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A tranquil hamlet with its tiny ‘swan lake’, Elter Water, sitting at the gateway of the striking Langdale valley. The soft valley landscape is in sharp contrast to the steep jagged Langdale Pikes. Elterwater sits between Ambleside and Great Landgale, where at the top of the valley the infamous Wrynose Path is the only way out of the u-shaped valley, giving it a superb sense of seclusion. The larger towns of Grasmere and Ambleside are a short drive away providing a host of options for shopping and eating out.
