"Excellent property and location"
-
"Perfect little get away!"
.Great location, facilities were excellent and we thoroughly our stay. Only thing to note would be there seemed to be a smell coming from the drains (mainly in the kitchen sink) which then floated in the kitchen and lounge area but that's all. Will be recommending to family and friends.

"The location of the cottage was everything we had hoped for, and the short walk to the lake is an absolute must."
We came back completely refreshed and looking forward to going back next year.
-
"Loved the location."
The building itself holds character. It is a proper rural country side escape from crowded city and town. Beautiful lake in walking distance.
-
"Overall it was a very good location and accommodation was more modern and new than we expected, which was great."
Bit more information with a local map of the surrounding and things to do would have helped to get the best out of the short vacation. Instead of written instructions of how to go to farm shop and facilities, please include a map. We would love to visit again and highly recommend the place.
-
"The accommodation was wonderful."
Clean and well equipped. The location was great too.
-
"It would have been nice to have the place warm when we arrived and not wait for the heaters to work at night."
I don't expect to be asked to strip linen and empty rubbish when renting accommodation.
-
"We had a wonderful stay in this charming farm building which is set in one of the best locations in the Lake District (literally a stone’s throw from Beatrix Potter’s house, Hill Top)."
The property manager, Debbie, made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We are very glad that we stumbled across this property online, and hope to stay again some day.
-
"Excellent location for exploring the lakes."
Accommodation comfortable and clean. Great pubs within walking distance.
-
"Fantastic place, even better than expected and little touches like tea bags, coffee and washing up liquid which we hadn't expected in a self catering place."
The location was great for exploring the lake District and the dog (Max) thought it was ideal too. Local Pubs we're nice with good food and great beer. All round made it a fantastic holiday.

"Heating and building insulation not adequate in cold weather."
Storage heater in the property did not work properly and were difficult to alter the settings. The stove in the lounge area provided enough heat for the main bedroom and the lounge if the door was left open, but you have to pay for the logs to use in the stove.
-
"Was difficult to find with just the postcode and name would have helped with the Sawrey part of the address."
Place was a good size clean and beds where very comfortable. Christmas tree on arrival was a lovely treat to top off a lovely Christmas.
-
"The apartment had everything we needed."
The log burner was a treat, and the daily milk deliveries were very convenient.
-
"Cottage in a good location, however very basic equipment in the kitchen, can opener broken, sofa very uncomfortable and torn, window catch broken, gap under front door, which meant we had a cold draft in the house all week from the window and the door place could do with a lick of paint."
Bathroom shaving light didn’t work.
-
"We have just had a lovely week at the lakes with our family and two dogs."
The accommodation was very nice and comfortable and set in a beautiful location ideal for walking and sightseeing.

"The holiday cottage was very comfortable and clean but the windows are a little ..."
The holiday cottage was very comfortable and clean but the windows are a little hard to close and one had no handle at all the oven grill never worked and for five people another dining chair is wanted but never the less we had a fantastic holiday and would come again anytime

"Our cottage was well equipped and pleasant to stay in."
The area that our cottage was in was a highlight with a lake at the bottom of the garden, friendly village pub with fantastic food and Hawkshead village 5 minutes down the road. Would defiantly recommend staying here. We would defiantly stay again.

"I booked wastatwer cottage and i thought it is on the ground floor."
The listing does not say that it s a first floor cottage noe does the email confirm. When we checked in, it was smelling so bad because someone had smoked a cigerrette insiode the cottage. They offered us a free upgrade which did not have the views, the wastwaters did. We had no other choice and had to accept this. Day 1: The electric storage radiator (god knows from which century) did not work. Day 2: They fixed the raddiators, but can not control the temprature or even switch them off now. It was a nightmare. We had sleep in different rooms with open windows and take chances with the insects coming in. Overall experience was worse than 2 stars and god knows how they managed to get 4 star for that property. It ruined my holidays to certain extent and would definitely look for a compensation. I did not expect this after paying spo much. There were cheaper alternatives on internet, but I specifically chose this to ensure the comfort for my family.

"It was really lovely and the second time we have gone to that particular location."
We stayed in the Thirlmere apartment first time round and Wastwater this time. Fantastic location and perfect for a few days away. The staff were helpful when I contacted them and really wanted to help and your website is really easy and quick to make a booking on. Will definitely be booking again with Sykes. Thank you! The Ensor family.

About the location
SAWREY
Hawkshead 2 miles.
The village of Sawrey is situated two miles from Hawkshead down the eastern side of Esthwaite Water, overlooked by the woods and tarns of Claife Heights. Sawrey consists of two separate hamlets - Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey - both with a cluster of picturesque cottages, tea rooms and pubs. Near Sawrey is famous for Hill Top, the 17th century farmhouse where Beatrix Potter wrote her acclaimed children's stories. Now a museum, owned and run by the National Trust, Hill Top is one of the most visited houses in the Lake District. Far Sawrey is the hamlet furthest away from Hawkshead and the nearest to the ferry point on Windermere. It offers a church and pub/restaurant with a beer garden. There are good walks in the area, including those to Claife Heights and in Grizedale Forest. It's also a great base for enjoying a wide variety of typical Lakeland pursuits - with watersports close at hand on Lake Windermere, fishing on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.
