  • "This was a stunning house!"

In a beautiful setting on the lake, it was comfortable, luxurious and beautifully maintained. I hope we get to stay there again!

  • "We have recently returned from a wonderful 8 night holiday based in High Cunsey Farm."

High Cunsey Farm is a gem of a place to stay! This sympathetically restored, beautifully decorated and well equipped Lakeland farmhouse has well maintained grounds that stretch to the shore of Windermere. Recently commented upon problems with the shower in the main bedroom en-suite have been resolved. The digitally-controlled electric Aga has good instructions for use in the house hand-book. The 2 low wooden beams across the main bedroom and the adjacent landing of this traditional style Lakeland farmhouse are approximately 173cm (5ft 8in) above the floor. For the taller members of our family who weren't used to low beams a thin, soft, bright piece of cloth (we used ties) hung over each beam was a good reminder to duck. The house agents, Sykes Cottages/Lakelovers did take ages to answer the phone, having replied neither to some messages left on their website nor emails. However when we did eventually get through to the agents a couple of days before the start of our stay, the agents were efficient, effective and able to action and resolve all of our queries, for which many thanks!

  • "We had a wonderful stay at your gorgeous property and we definitely book again next year."

It was really perfect for our family and we just loved the location. You have done it up so beautifully - what a lovely home. We did have a couple of points to mention: Washing Machine: I went to use the machine and opened the door and it really smelt of damp. I opened the soap drawer and it was black with mould and really smelt. I also checked round the rubber rim and it was all mouldy. I cleaned it all out and got it sorted so that I could use it. I think it needs a deeper clean though as our clothes came out smelly of damp. Linen: The linen on the Master Bed smelt of damp - maybe they have been washed in the machine? We had to remove the pillow cases and sleep on towels. Master Bed Shower: We used this once and immediately noticed water dripping through the wooden beam by the dining table. We stopped the shower straight away and mopped up the water downstairs. We tried ringing Sykes to report this issues but we held on for 38mins, requested a call back and never got anywhere with them. We didn't use the shower again - but this needs sorting ASAP. None of the above prevented us from having a wonderful stay and as I say - we will be back! Thank you so much

  • "Smelly, dusty, filthy, dirty baking trays (but they were useful for catching the water that came through the ceiling the first time we used the shower which leaked through the dining room ceiling)."

It was impossible to deal with Lakelovers to resolve anything through their online messaging system so we could not use the shower all week. It would only be ok if you are below average height and don’t mind living in dust.

ended up having to hoover most of the house. The house is feeling a bit tired now, silicone in en suite in shower gone, was worried about causing a leak so decided not to use. The house could do with some updating

  • "What a super property High Cunsey Farm is."

We booked a week at Easter to take the whole family for a double celebration, a 70th birthday and a Golden Wedding Anniversary. There were 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 grandchildren, three families in total. The layout of the property meant that two families could have a double room and a twin room each whilst we had the master bedroom with views down to the lake. Th farm house was so comfortable and homely and full credit to the owners who bought the property about nine years ago and did a full renovation of the property. The large garden was ideal for the youngsters to play in and they loved seeing the wildlife that visited regularly. We had no complaints whatsoever and would certainly consider visiting again if the opportunity arose.

  • "The house was beautiful in a gorgeous setting."

Extremely well equipped kitchen. Great open plan layout. Generally house was a bit on the cold side and heating wasn’t to be adjusted. My room especially the en-suite was very chilly. A real issue was with the kitchen smoke alarm which was extremely sensitive and right next to the aga. It was continually going off even when not cooking. It set all other smoke alarms off and was very annoying. This marred our stay somewhat. I hope it can be moved as we would book again.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay. We take all comments on board. Thank you - The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "The house and setting was perfect for large multi generational family holiday."

Plenty of space to spread out and comfortable.. Our only negatives were the availability of serving dishes, lots of pans but only 1 small oval dish. The Aga looks great but takes some getting used to when you haven’t used one before. My mark down on cleanliness was only that there is a lot of stuff in the house and we felt there were areas that are clearly not being touched often. Also clearly a problem with wasps in the family bathroom, which is no one’s fault but the light fittings were full of dead wasps. None of this would put us off recommending or staying again.

  • "This was a fabulous cottage to stay for our family of three generations."

Spacious and had a touch of luxury. Sitting outside with the views was great and there are walks from the cottage without needing to drive anywhere. Recommend this cottage as great location and very quiet to enjoy the surrounding scenery. We had a Tesco delivery which was very easy to book and provided all food and drink for the week.

  • "The property was very well presented and provided a very quiet and relaxing base for our holiday."

No expense has been spared on the furniture and fittings and it’s noticeable that extra effort has been made to ensure all details and requirements that guests will need have been well considered. We’ve stayed in many multi-bedroom ‘luxury’ holiday rentals over the years and this is amongst the best, assuming you’re looking for that traditional cottage theme property. The Brasserie at the local Sawrey House hotel is also highly recommended!

  • "Lovely property, nicely restored with quality fittings."

Nice Location, outside space great, lovely big grass snake ( don’t worry about this, as you won’t see him if your not looking) living in dead tree near stream, duck with eggs n front garden. Smell in main bedroom , which is water related, either from corner of shower or water leak whilst raining which could be heard dripping, one of those things which I’m sure owner will sort, this shouldn’t detract from a super property in a super location, ver tastefully restored, well done and thank you very much

  • "Loved the house."

Decor was beautiful and very comfortable. The house has a wonderful garden and the position is great! The house was let down by the cleanliness. There was a strong smell of damp in the master bedroom and serious dust on the wooden beams and on the walls and ceilings. I had to do a clean myself and dust. The owners have put air diffusers around to hide smell of damp. The house also has a terrible moth issue. Huge moths all over the place in each room.

  • "The very few improvements that could be made: 1."

Cooking is dependent on the AGA. We succeeded in finding a detailed instruction book which allowed us to to use it well - this could be made more prominent, or mentioned in the folder 2. Out initial order of a travel cot and a high chair was not fulfilled, but were provided quickly when asked for. We loved the garden, access to the lake and the very peaceful location.

Niggles: while we should have spotted it from the pictures there are a number of low beams and two of us who are 67 foot hit our heads on them more than once. The electric Aga (we have a gas one) took some getting used to. None of this spoiled what was a wonderful break.
