  • "Downstairs bedroom very small for two adults."

Could do with downstairs shower room and the downstairs w.c. was very gloomy and uninviting.

  • "There were dirty tissues and empty bottles under the bed and the handles to flush the toilet’s were hanging off ."

There were also dirty tissues scrunched up in the corners of the sitting room window presumably to mop up condensation. Very dirty and not cleaned properly as we shouldn’t be finding others peoples rubbish and tissues

  • "However we say it met expectations but ."

............... .Unfortunately we had over 5 days of the 7 days without wifi which was a problem as we chose this holiday cottage because wifi was provided. The wifi was needed for my son in laws work and for contact home where my mother was ill. We also knew we would have netflix for ourselves and the children such as fireman sam etc which is very important when you are two... This was a great disappointment to us all and also an enormous concern re work and home contact. We obviously can't blame Sykes holidays but the cottages themselves. However the Graythwaite Estate were not particularly helpful regarding this p[roblem

We are sorry to hear that you experienced issues whilst staying with us. The internet issue was due to a recent storm and took longer than we would have liked for our broadband provider to repair. We completely understand that wifi access is really important to our guests, however the impact of the extreme weather was beyond our control on this occasion. We’re very sorry that you were unhappy during your visit to us, all of your comments are appreciated Property Owner

  • "This cottage is not really dog friendly as there is no direct access from the house to the garden which makes it quite awkward when letting your dogs out as you have to go out of the front door, round the side of the house to the back garden which is not secure."

To be honest ,there are parts of the house that is not really up to 4 stars and its a bit tired in the bedrooms and bathroom and one shower is not adequate for the number of bedrooms. The condition of some of the windows are poor for its rating? The lounge is comfortable and pleasant and the kitchen is adequate.

Thank you for your feedback. The property being dog friendly means that we welcome dogs to stay in the property, not that there is a secure outside area to let your dog out. We have taken on board your feedback regards the property and can only say that as the cottages are very popular they do become subject to inevitable wear and tear. We do try to keep our rolling plan of improvements going all year round however. Property Owner

I don't believe it had been hovered before our arrival,I had to clean the unsuite,as looked to be dog hairs in the bath!!Little down stairs bedroom smelt very strongly of damp,so we couldn't use it,which resulted in our boy sleeping in with us!Carpets need replacing, they are filthy....kitchen didn't seem as well equipped...3 teaspoons!Sadly the beautiful cottage needs some tender loving care,Windows in particular,on the Sunday it was quite windy, the draught through the Windows was unbelievable! We love Graythwaite, but left disappointed!Shops an added bonus

  • "We had a lovely weekend at Jubilee cottage and would like to return to spend more time exploring the estate."

The cottage is very well equipped & comfortable; it was a little cold on arrival but warmed up once we had the fire going. The beds were comfy & there was plenty of hot water for all of our showers & baths after a days cycling in the forest.

  • "The initial cottage is what I have based my feedback on."

The cottage was not well maintained and cleanliness and comfort were not as one would hope. Sykes were helpful in getting us moved although this took some time. We have stayed at Graythwaite before and feel that standards have slipped which I think you should pass on to them.

Cottage is situated in lovely area of Cumbria the complex was very well looked after and the swimming pool was great success with grandkids, The cottage was spacious and comfortable and had all the things we needed My only constructive feedback is the cottage was rather tired and could do with a refurbish or at least the walls repainted and the scruffy carpets replaced

  • "We arrived in snowy weather and Jubilee was very cold apart from the top bedroom which had a modern heater, and the living room was only warm enough when we had the fire going and a fan heater."

One storage heater did not work, this was fixed during out stay which helped with that room. There was no light bulb in the ground floor toilet which was not changed despite asking about it. Debbie (?) was very friendly and helpful and provided us with more fan heaters. We have been coming to Graythwaite for many years and always have a great time, just a shame it was so cold in our cottage as the other cottages were not. Probably because it is detached? But it does need better heating as we were warmer outside!

  • "The location was extremely isolated."

The heating was inadequate on the Thursday night we returned later than usual and had to keep our coats on until we went to bed it was so cold. The water in the en-suite ran yellow the whole time we were there and we were unable to use the bath as a result. The water in the shower never got hot only luke-warm. The whole place needed a face-lift as it was quite dated. We don't feel it was a four star.

Could do With an additional shower (water in the bath was a yellowy colour). No one available at reception area during stated times to ask about the baby swim suit we had left on a chair in the pool. Possibly slightly warmer water for the swimming pool. Lovely cottages & an enjoyable holiday. Lots of room and things to do in and around the estate.
