"The pictures don’t do the property justice."
It felt like home from home. The property was clean and the beds were comfortable. The utility with washer and fridge freezer was particularly useful for a young family. We’d definitely come back if we visited the area again.

"A beautiful bungalow which was perfect for our holiday."
Very comfortable house with a well equipped kitchen which made self catering very easy. Excellent location meant that we did not move the car all week as we either walked from the house or caught the bus. As others have said, we did not use the drive due to the gradient. We will definitely book again.

"Brilliant property."
Everything we could possibly need was in situ. Only problem was shortage of towels which turned up eventually but not before we had to purchase some.

"Everything was very comfortable, all the facilities were really good, comfortable beds , the cleanliness was excellent and we really appreciated the terrace as we were lucky enough to have good weather."
There is a nearby path that leads directly to Wansfell a beautiful climb and yet the cottage is only 5 / 10 minutes walk to the lake side or the village, excellent location. We had an older relative with us and the one level bungalow and walk in shower were the main reason for choosing the property and it was perfect for our needs.

"It is a nice cottage but the following needs to be addressed:- The toilet takes several attempts to flush properly The fire in the living room didn't work One of the lights in the living room kept flickering on and off When we arrived there were three small bins of the previous guests rubbish left in the living room- not nice!"
There were also some dirty cups in the cupboard
Thank you for your comments. We take all comments on board, and we will ask our Maintenance Team to look into the comments about the toilet and the lights. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"Unfortunately we feel let down this time."
After staying at this property numerous times in the past and always been more than happy we feel that standards have slipped. The toilet flush is still not mended even though we mentioned it last time. There is a terrible drain smell in the hallway and front bedroom particularly after it rains. Most annoying was the broken door catch leading into the living room. Which we contacted ‘heart of the lakes’ about. We left the key in the key safe as instructed and the maintenance team came to look, they took the catch out and left a note saying they would return the next day so we left the key again but nobody came back. We had to use a door stop to close the door so as to keep the heat in on a night. Very disappointing.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you felt the property didn't live up to it's previous standards. We have raised the issues with our maintenance team. Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"We very much enjoyed our stay in Beckside."
It was our first visit to the Lakes so the property was so ideally placed for the lovely walk into Ambleside, and the many lovely walks, also the nearby garden centre was great too. The property was lovely and cosy and plenty of space for us as a family of four, the views from the property were amazing. We would highlight recommend this property and the location. Thank-you :-) Emma

"Accommodation and facilities were excellent."
However, we parked on the road outside as I wasn’t confident about using the very steep drive. The lavatory flush was a bit troublesome and could maybe do with some attention, often taking several attempts to get it to work. On arrival the floors had obviously been cleaned, but some of the other surfaces were a bit dusty and cobwebby. These were minor issues which didn’t spoil our holiday and we would happily book this property again.

"Excellent property."
Had a few problems mainly down to previous guests not reporting things but nothing to spoil the holiday. Most of the problems were handled quickly by the local office. As reported by others the drive is very steep but parking in the road was fine. The location meant we could walk to Ambleside town & various local lake & fell walks, but the walk back up to the property was a killer at the end of the day or evening lol. In the hot weather the shady courtyard garden was great.

"Another wonderful week in this beckside."
We have stayed her many times and find it a conveniently placed property which is comfortable and homely. However I must add I am disappointed that a few things that really should have been mended or replaced since our visit last year. The toilet still does not flush easily and the left door on the tv cabinet has been damaged for years (it fell down almost hitting my partner when he went to turn the lamp off). That said it is a lovely place to stay and on the whole I would recommend.

"Great base for walks in to Ambleside, lake Windermere and the surrounding area."
The bungalow was clean and fresh on arrival. Kitchen is well equipped, shower powerful, beds and general living space were comfy. We used the garage to store our bikes and made use of the patio to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine. A few things to note; drive is very steep, I did not attempt to park the car on the drive, plenty of space on the road in front of the bungalow. At the time of our visit, there must have been a wasps nest in the cavity below the front window, a number of them did find their way indoors. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would happily book to stay at the property again.

Hi we was very pleased with the cottage so much so we have decided to return next year and hopefully we might get better weather

"The property was spot on for our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
We would definitely stay at the property again. Our only concern was the description of off-road parking. The drive in front of the garage was way too steep for us to park the car down and we ended up scraping the underneath of the car when we tried. We therefore had to leave it on the main road.
Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

It had everything we needed and we would definitely return/recommend to others.

"Third stay here, great as usual!"
-
"Another lovely stay at Beckside."
Very clean. Great location. Well equipped. Hope to return again

"Sofas are a bit past their sell by date."
Could do with a bit more crockery. The dual flush on the toilet doesn’t work properly.
-
"A really beautiful cottage and very well equipped (would have been great to have a teapot as well as coffee pot…) surprisingly spacious and lots of space to store clothes and belongings."
It says access to garage for storage of bikes etc but we could not get in… this just meant using the utility room which was not a problem. Lovely entrance porch with space for boots and rucksacks. Would definitely recommend staying here and would book again, thank you

"Lovely bungalow - immaculately clean and very well equipped."
Very comfortable beds. Great location. Short stroll into Ambleside and very quiet. Couldn’t fault it at all and would definitely recommend to others and use it again.
-
"The heating and water went off the evening of our arrival."
However after reporting it the following morning it was dealt with and repaired within the hour. Brilliant response! The cottage was spotless and well equipped.
-
"Although the description does state that the drive is steep, we found it to be unusable as it scraped the underneath of our car, and I think this would be the case for most cars."
This was not an issue for us as we could park across the top of the drive, but I feel this potential problem should be better highlighted in the accommodation description to help guests with two cars. The accommodation itself was spotlessly clean, the bed was really comfortable, and it felt like a home from home. We would definitely stay again in the future.

"Great property."
Very comfortable and very well equipped. Very clean on arrival. Drive not useable with large suv but no issue parking across drive. Hope to return soon.

It was really thoughtfully equipped and we didn't find anything that was missing from the well stocked kitchen. Thanks very much.

AMBLESIDE
Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
