The property

Resting in a quiet residential area between Ambleside and Waterhead, Garden House lies on the beautiful Lake Winderemer offering accommodation for up to eight guests.

Ideal for a family or couples seeking a peaceful break, Garden House enjoys a slightly elevated position with views towards the lovely western fells, and is set well back from a quiet back road.

Once you’ve parked up in the driveway, walk up several steps and be welcomed through the front door and into the hallway where you’ll find a split-level staircase.

Following a day of adventure, head up to the beautiful and spacious living area to admire to admire the stunning, floor-to-ceiling window flooding the room with natural light.

Relax in this well-designed room, admiring the coordinated décor, before lighting the woodburning stove offering a welcome warmth in the winter months.

A fabulous balcony provides another spot to soak up beautiful views over the rooftops over to Loughrigg Fell and beyond, sip a morning coffee here before heading back into the well-equipped kitchen to rustle up a delicious cooked breakfast.

Featuring attractive oak units and a stylish breakfast bar, along with a dining table and chairs too, it’s a wonderfully social space where you can come together over mealtimes.

Plenty of fun can be had on a rainy day within the games room like shooting some pool, playing cards or watching film on the TV as you sink into the sofa, a great room for winding down!

From here you can climb up to a lovely twin bedroom boasting an en-suite shower room, whilst a handy utility room is on this level too.

From the first split-level landing, head down the stairs when you’re ready to retire for the evening to find the remaining four bedrooms, with a master king-size with an en-suite, a king-size, a twin and a single, all spacious and well-presented, served by a fabulous family bathroom with a corner bath and a separate shower.

From your doorstep you can stroll into Waterhead and delight in a cruise along the beautiful Lake Windermere, with stunning views from the water to the surrounding mountains and fells, with the option to hire your own boat too to explore Windermere’s secluded bays and islands.

Take a short stroll to Ambleside’s bustling centre to browse the shops, indulge in a meal at one of the excellent restaurants, cafés and pubs with plenty to choose from, whilst the latest films are on show at one of the two excellent cinemas.

You are in the perfect location to take a driving tour or bus ride to discover the gorgeous scenery of the Lake District but why not leave the car on the drive and explore the beautiful countryside on foot.

From your front door, you have a choice of many wonderful trails whether a low-level circular route or an adventurous hike up to the high fells to encounter grassy mountains, ageless tarns and superb views to the lakes and valleys below.

Make sure to visit The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere, an ode to the famous children’s author, visit here home Hill Top run by the National Trust on the other side of the lake, and don’t miss the exciting Lakes Aquarium featuring sharks and cute otters!

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
