  • "Lovely location, nice short walk into Ambleside."

The coach House was so comfortable and exceptionally clean with everything you need for your stay. We would definitely make a return visit.

An extremely comfortable property in an ideal situation and being able to park car in garage an added bonus. All amenities are within easy walking distance and we make use of the local bus service.

I can honestly say The Coach House is the best property we have stayed in. After being out on the fells for the day. It was wonderful just to come back to a modern, clean wonderful accommodation with off street parking. Within a short walk lots of places to eat & drink, or you have all the cooking facilities to cook meal at the accommodation. Go on, treat yourself you won't be disappointed..... We wasn't!

Also only one posh spare toilet roll the other left only had 2 sheets on the holder.

We hope to be back soon ! Only disappointment was the wi-fi failed after the first day but that is thro' no fault of the owners.

  • "A lovely cottage, very well equipped, well furnished, and spotlessly clean."

It is in a very quiet lane, close to the town centre. The garage is useful for drying wet weather gear, and for storing boots etc.. An information folder, including wifi password, would be useful.

  • "The property was perfect for us."

Within a short walk of town centre, and a short walk the other way to the lake. Very comfy and roomy, with a good size kitchen, and parking directly outside. Would be happy to stay there again.

  • "Immaculate and beautifully decorated and equipped."

Perfect quiet location around 10 minutes walk to the lake or, in the other direction, the town centre. Private off-street parking adjacent to the Coach House is a huge benefit in a busy town. The Coach House is very expensive, we paid the same price for a 10 bed Yorkshire farmhouse a few weeks ago. Every other holiday rental that we’ve been to has had a reasonably comprehensive set of instructions on heating, internet, bin schedules, recycling etc. No such information at The Coach House - a perfunctory sheet of phone numbers, a drawer full of equipment instructions and you’re left to your own devices. I had to climb up on a chair in the kitchen to find the router code on the back of the internet router on the top of the kitchen cupboard, eventually found a laminated sheet about bins in the garage and, after scouring the property for a heating timer, had to read the boiler operating instruction book - the owner or agents could and should do a much better job on this imo.

  • "This was our second stay at The Coach House."

We originally booked it because of the location: we love staying in Ambleside and this cottage is close to all the shops and restaurants while also being on a very quiet road. We returned to it this year because of the cottage itself - it's very comfortable and the layout inside is lovely. We definitely intend to return in the future.

  • "I’ve been coming to the Lakes for 30 years and have stayed in a variety of places in and around Ambleside."

This is by far the best - the proximity to the town, the solitude and quiet plus the insanely convenient parking/garage situation made this a perfect spot. A hose to clean my mountain bike was the icing on the cake. Very minor niggles would be the cost (it’s not cheap) and the WiFi was a bit of pain to sort with EE. But overall it’s hard to find fault. The bathroom and shower were fabulous and the bed super comfy. I will be back for sure!

Let me stress we have no complaints but there were a couple of small things to draw to your attention for the future comfort of guests: 1) The blind over the sink only lowers half way 2) The sink in the bathroom empties really slowly 3) The valance (the material round the base of the bed) needs a clean We have already booked for next September and we’re looking forward to another great visit.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
