  • "We loved the property."

It was convenient to get to places, but it needs to be made clear before you go that you can't put toilet paper down the loo. Maybe provide nappy bags as well as the bin. In summer that would make it more hygienic. Shame the roads were shut. Everything else was really good.

Wish we had known before hand that there is a road closed which we believe had been closed for some time, so follow the signs to Crook then you should find it. We had a small problem, phoned the number proved by didn’t get back to us but we did sort it out. Very quiet which we loved

  • "Had a great time in this little cottage."

Clean and well equipped in lovely, quiet surroundings (sheep outnumbering people about a 100-1), served as an excellent base camp to explore the Lakes. The cottage is only approachable through single-track roads, so make sure you pay attention whilst driving in the area.

It was unfortunate that due to road closures the diversions were along narrow country lanes with on coming traffic not particularly slow which made the first twenty minutes to get anywhere quite a strain.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry that the diversions added extra time onto your journeys. We hope that you would make a return visit to The Lakes again. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team. Property Owner

The cottage was ideal. Exceptionally clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils and appliances. It was an ideal location for exploring the south lakes. Would certainly book this cottage again if we holidayed in the south lakes.

But NO Internet all week, made planning days out hard. Property attached to cess tank, signage indicates toilet paper should not be flushed, seperate bin provided.

  • "The property was well furnished and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay, although having looked at previous feedback there are still a couple of issues that haven't been addressed."

The shower holder was broken and the curtain in the bedroom could not be fully closed, which was a problem as next door were having their roof done and the workmen were walking past the window from early in the morning. The main issue was that on Monday workmen dug up the road outside the property to work on new Wifi, which created problems leaving and accessing the property and we had no Wifi from Tuesday to Friday when we left. There was no local contact details left for us, so I spent a long time trying to access Lakelovers by messenger, WhatsApp and web messages and have still not had any feedback from that, which is not what I would expect from a lettings company, we were extremely disappointed and not likely to use you again due to lack of support.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We will ask our Property Services Team to look into your comments raised regarding the shower and curtain. We are sorry that you experienced issues in trying to contact us. We were not aware of the works happening during your stay. We will pass on your comments to the relevant teams. • "This is the second time we have stayed at this cottage."

Generally we found it to be very clean and tidy. It’s in a good location that is peaceful and quiet. However there are some things that need rectification. The shower head needs replacing as it is broken and cannot be adjusted. We had to switch off and defrost the freezer as it never stopped running and was frozen up that badly that the drawers could not be opened. The noise it made when we were in bed below it was very loud and kept us awake. The curtains at the door have lots of hanger clips missing and or broken. We moved the blanket box in the bedroom out into the hall after my wife hit her toe on it getting out of bed in the night. The curtain on the left hand window in the bedroom does not close fully due to the end hanging ring not being fixed, and finally the toilet seat fixings are loose and it moves when in use.

  • "Perfect little place and it would be a five star review, I came to get some peace and also do some work in the evenings."

The internet connection was totally unusable though, took minutes to load a very basic web page. I'm aware this could just be the area, but I've stayed in rural homes before where it was at least usable! Couldn't really do any of the tasks I'd hoped to do as internet couldn't cut it. If you want a getaway which includes an escape from connectivity, this is the one for you! A beautiful cottage though and gorgeous surroundings.

  • "A brilliant, peaceful place to stay."

Packed with all the home comforts needed. A really lovely holiday home and somewhere I would highly recommend. The following are not complaints, nor did either impact upon our stay . Please note: the freezer door catches on the side and was slightly wedged open when we arrived. It took us a while to discover this and so it began to over freeze. We ended up defrosting it and made certain the door closed tight. The freezer would be fine,if it could be moved slightly over but there is a piece of wood wedging it to one side. Also, the wood coverering pipes in the bathroom isn't fixed and tends to fall forward now and again.

  • "A beautiful cottage with wonderful views from all windows."

The upstairs living space is simply stunning - the photos do not do it justice (the upstairs flooring is wood rather than carpet shown in the photos and the TV has been updated to a large flat screen). It is much more spacious, bright and airy than we expected. The sofas and the bed are all very comfy and there is ample parking outside the cottage. There was no DVD player in the property despite the description mentioning that you can watch DVDs (and some are provided at the cottage), so bring your own if you plan on relaxing with a film - the upstairs area and bedroom do have smart TVs so you can access the usual apps with your accounts (BBC iPlayer, Disney plus, Netflix etc.). There were quite a few cobwebs around when we checked in, but you are in the countryside so it didn’t bother us too much. We also noticed dust underneath the sofas and tables and some of the utensils and glasses were not left very clean by previous guests, but the rest of the property was very clean and tidy. The shower is lovely and warm but we couldn’t get the hot taps in the kitchen, bathroom sink and the bath to heat up - however, being August this wasn’t too much of an issue either. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return again!

Really well equipped, comfortable. No complaints at all. Perfect! The only comment I would make was regarding putting out the rubbish. The instructions were to leave the rubbish in a bin marked "Cumbria waste group" (or similar) but we could not find this bin, so the guidance needs an update.

Generally cleanliness of the cottage is below par and looks like it could do with a good clean and revamp in general (lick of paint, up-dated furniture etc.). There was also a problem with wasps (which was mentioned in the visitors book by another visitor), my dad was stung on the first night in the cottage (luckily he had no adverse reaction), all through the holiday we amounted quite a collection of dying wasps, no idea how they were getting in (but there had been mention of a nest in the book..... maybe need to get somebody in again to get the problem sorted).
