  • "We had a great stay at this lovely cottage."

Very comfortable clean and quiet and in a perfect position to access all the wonderful walks in the area. We loved the two staircases and the spacious kitchen. Two pubs with restaurants very close by. We wished we were staying for longer.

Everything was clean and tidy and kitchen well equipped for cooking meals after long walks in the dales. Giggleswick itself was beautiful and we really enjoyed a trip up to the school chapel - worth a visit! Comfy bed and good shower. Would definitely return!

Thank you Rianne for your kind comments about my cottage. I'm very pleased you enjoyed your stay in Giggleswick. I aggree that the school chapel is worth a visit. It's a hidden gem! From the outside it looks unassuming but the interior is glorious! Property Owner

Owner Steve gave us some good information to help us. We left the property clean and tidy. We only used to hob once and the fridge. All rubbish removed and in correct bins. Good area to get to all we wanted to see. Lovely cottage and had a great time Thank You Anne

  • "Lovely cottage with all amenities available."

Loved the split of the cottage, it enabled my grandson some private time with the bedrooms being located at either side of the cottage. Owner communication and information was excellent. Great location, 20 mins from most attractions that we wanted to visit. Also some excellent pubs in walking distance, Harts Head and Black Horse also Craven Arms just 3 mins drive. Settle was also in walking distance with everything you need from groceries to lovely sandwiches etc.

  • "It was only very short stay, but made stress-free by the ‘at home’ feel of Lychgate Cottage."

I loved all the railway pictures.

I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Lychgate Cottage. Our aim is to make the cottage feel homely. I too like vintage railway posters and it feels appropriate to decorate the cottage with them given the close proximity of the iconic Settle-Carlise railway and also the Morecambe line to Carnforth where Brief Encounter was filmed and with its connections to the scenic Furness line along the northern shore of Morecambe bay. • "Wonderful cottage in an ideal location for walking, proximity to shops, cafes, pubs."

Cottage is more spacious than pictures would suggest and the layout is perfect for a family, a couple, or two couples travelling together. Many walks on the doorstep and just a short drive from Ingleton. Train station not far by foot. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your kind comments about my cottage. I am very pleased that you enjoyed your holiday in Giggleswick. I agree that Giggleswick is surrounded by great walking country. Also, if you want to go farther afield, there are two railway stations within a mile of Lychgate cottage. Some of my guests have walked from the cottage to Clapham and returned to Giggleswick by train. Likewise, some guests have walked to Horton in Ribblesdale and returned to Settle by train. Great if you want to leave the car at home. Property Owner

  • "Lychgate Cottage was a great place to stay - warm, comfortable and well equipped."

We had everything we needed for an enjoyable break. Contact from the owner with up to date information before we arrived helped us settle in quickly. This is a lovely cottage in a great location. We have visited this area many times and look forward to returning soon. We would be very happy to stay at this cottage again.

Thank you for your kind comments about my cottage David. During your stay, we experienced some of the lowest temperatures in about a decade, so I'm pleased you found the cottage warm enough. The Dales have a lot to offer and many of my guests are returning after several previous visits. If you would like to stay in my cottage again, you would be very welcome. Property Owner

  • "Comfortable, very well equipped and handy for Settle."

We had some hassles getting the TV to work despite the outline instructions. The parking space by the Cross was available after the first night parked elsewhere. Overall we are very satisfied. I hired an e-bike and enjoyed a ride over Giggleswick Scar, up to Horton and back over Malham Moor. We can also recommend the Adam Sedgewick GeoTrail at Sedburgh.

Thank you for your feedback Arthur. Please accept my apologies for the problems you had with the TV. I will look into this tomorrow when I am at the cottage. Hiring an e-bike sounds like a great idea and it sounds like you covered a lot of ground with it. I like the journey from Settle to Malham, which ever route you take there are great views. I haven't visited Dentdale and Sedburgh for a while now, so thank you for the recommendation for the Adam Sedgewick GeoTrail. It's a good reason to make a return visit. Property Owner

  • "We loved this cottage."

It was clean, comfortable and had everything we could have possibly needed. Perfectly situated for all the local amenities, including pubs, shops and the railway station - along with the feeling of being in a quiet village. We wanted a walking holiday, and managed to total around 60 miles in the week without using our car once. Amazingly helpful pre-stay communication from the owner. Thank you so much. Would love to come back.

Thank you for your feedback Tamsin. I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Giggleswick. I agree that it feels like a quiet village but a 10 minute walk takes you to Settle with a full range of shops & cafes. Also, now that the historic Black Horse inn has reopened, we have good food and drink practically on the doorstep of the cottage. Additionally, having 2 railway stations one mile from the cottage is a great asset. I saw in the guestbook that you'd walked over to Malham. That's around a 16 mile round trip over hilly terrain. I am very impressed! I look forwards to welcoming you back to my cottage. Property Owner

  • "Lychgate Cottage really felt like a home from home."

Lovely and clean with everything we needed in the kitchen, eco-friendly cleaning products, and lovely personal touches like original artworks by the owner and train-themed decor. Communication from the owner was brilliant, with lots of recommendations for local sights and walks which we took advantage of. Within easy walking distance of both Settle and Giggleswick train stations the cottage was a perfect base for our car-free holiday exploring the dales.

Thank you for your feedback Vicky. I am very pleased you enjoyed your stay at Lychgate Cottage and that you felt at home there. Thank you for appreciating the use of eco-friendly cleaning products in the cottage. I try to minimise the impact of the cottage on the environment by using these products. Also, I use a green energy supplier with a tariff that pays to have trees planted to off-set the carbon footprint of the cottage. Having two railway stations within a mile of the cottage is a great asset. Many of my guests take advantage of the trains on the Settle-Carlisle and Morecambe lines and enjoy some great linear walks between stations. Property Owner

I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay in Lychgate Cottage Brenda. • "Lovely cottage."

Great stay. Not great to arrive to a freezing cold place though. A hive type system would overcome this. Every plug turned off and have to hunt for the hob and dishwasher switch. Plates dirty in cupboard. Looks like they where just taken from the dishwasher without checking they where clean. Pillows hard but that’s our personal choice. Small negatives though as we really loved the cottage. Very good log burner. Would return if we are visiting again.

Thank you for your useful feedback Nicholas. I bought the cottage in June and this is my first Winter. You made a good point about installing a hive system and I going to do this. It would solve the problem of guests arriving in a cold cottage. Regarding the location of plugs in the kitchen, I've now noted these in the welcome pack, I email to guests. I'm pleased you liked the cottage and look forwards to welcoming you back if you return to Giggleswick. I like the log burner too, it really heats the room. Property Owner
