Eildon Lodge is a delightful, detached holiday home situated in the picturesque village of Gosforth, Cumbria, within the boundaries of the Lake District National Park.Offering exceptional mountain and countryside views, this family-friendly retreat features large private driveway parking for multiple cars and welcomes two well-behaved pets, making it an ideal haven for families or friends seeking a tranquil escape.

As you step into the property, you'll immediately be welcomed into a large L-shaped hallway, with two doors opening into the lounge, another door to the kitchen, another to the family bathroom, and turning a corner, doors into the ensuite king sized bedroom and the twin bedroom.

There is a generous kitchen (granite work tops throughout), thoughtfully equipped with all the essentials for your self-catering needs.

It has a central island with seating for 4.

Just off the kitchen, the dining room awaits, offering seating for eight, ideal for gathering around and enjoying a hearty home-cooked meal with family or friends.

The dining room can also be accessed through the lounge/ sitting room via sliding doors with frosted glass.

The large sitting room/ lounge, featuring an 85-inch Smart TV (with a sound-bar) with Sky satellite box, and a DVD player, offers a comfortable retreat for unwinding after a day of discovering the local sights.

This is a dual aspect lounge with bifold doors opening out to the large back garden with beautiful views.

There is ample and comfortable seating here.

For those seeking a moment of quiet, the conservatory (which opens from the dining room) provides the perfect escape, with stunning views of the meticulously maintained rear garden, complete with a tidy lawn and patio area.

There is a panoramic view of the neighbouring farms and the famous Lakeland fells.

The sleeping arrangements consist of four well-presented bedrooms, 2 each on the ground and first floors.

On the ground floor, there is a king-size bedroom with an en-suite, and another twin bedroom (2 single beds) which has access to the large family bathroom.

On the first floor, you will find a super-king-sized bedroom with an en-suite, and a dressing room.

There is another double bedroom which has access to the other bathroom with sink and WC.

To complete the interior of this delightful home, there are enough bathrooms providing ample space for everyone to ensure there are never any queues when getting ready for your adventures across the Lake District!

Venture out to discover the local attractions, starting with the magnificent Muncaster Castle (6 miles away), a fortified site steeped in rich history and beautiful gardens (reputedly one of the most haunted sites in the country!); be sure to take part in one of their guided tours for an immersive experience.

The famous Ravenglass to Eskdale Steam Railway (known as La’al Ratty), steaming through stunning scenery, is just 5 miles away.

Embrace the past at Hardknott Roman Fort and Thermae, a well-preserved fortress reputed to be one of the most remote outposts of the Roman Empire.

Continue your historical voyage to Ravenglass Roman Bath House, known for its well-preserved Roman architecture.

In Gosforth itself, you can marvel at the Gosforth (Viking) Cross, the oldest in the country.

This is a large stone monument in St Mary's churchyard, just 5 minutes’ walk from Eildon Lodge.

Dating to the first half of the 10th century AD, and formerly part of the kingdom of Northumbria, the area was settled by Scandinavians some time in either the 9th or 10th century.

It has gained reputation for its combination of Christian symbols with Nordic symbols, being a tangible piece of evidence of the impact of the Christianization of Scandinavia.

Experience Mother Nature's finest at Stanley Ghyll Waterfall, a scenic 60-foot fall tucked away in a lush ravine.

Plan a family day out at Longland Lake Country Park, an idyllic spot for a picnic whilst appreciating the surrounding wildlife.

Delve into the local history with a visit to the medieval Egremont Castle, showcasing remnants of an ancient world.

For those who enjoy a challenge, why not climb England's tallest and most prominent mountain Scaffel Pike – 978 meters (3208.7 feet) above sea level - which can be viewed by the less energetic members of your group, from the comfort of your Lodge!

Wasdale Head 9 miles; Eskdale 3 miles; Seascale 4 miles.

The small village of Gosforth sits amongst beautiful Lakeland countryside and consists of a scattering of traditional cottages, farm dwellings, and pubs serving good food. The village forges links far back into the history books and proudly shows the tallest, and oldest Viking Cross in England, plus the church holds many treasures not least the amazing Hogsback Tombs. Close by are the towering peaks of Scafell - England's highest peak, as well as Great Gable, Hard Knott, Harter Fell and Muncaster Fell, whilst the nearby valleys of Eskdale, Wasdale and Dunnerdale provide breathtaking scenery. There are many local attractions in the area including Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway. This great location has something for everyone.
