  • "A great stay!"

I'm afraid there is a leak in the shower attachment for bedroom 2 (the one with the bath in the room). It's leaking quite hard, so it's not possible to use the shower.

  • "The house was absolutely great, we really enjoyed the stay."

The only thing we wanted to mention is that we don’t think the electric charging for the car was working. We tried but couldn’t seem to get it to work. It didn’t affect our stay but just thought you would want to know.

  • "The property is delightful."

Comfortable, great decor, kitchen well stocked with all you need. Boot room with underfloor heating very handy. Beautiful views from garden. All very nice. Thankyou for sharing your home with us. We had a great time , despite the weather, and will come back.

  • "Eller Close House is a gorgeous property which is decorated and furnished to a very high standard and beautiful taste."

The views are stunning, but there is only one point of access which is via a steep path with gravel and steps which is a walk away from the parking bays. Taking luggage down this path is challenging in the dark and whilst the path has lighting it was not working during our stay. This really should be stated in the description as it would be unsuitable for some. The TV’s upstairs did not work which we think was due to the WiFi code not being accepted. None of this affected our stay and we would happily return.

  • "Very lovely holiday cottage, convenient for walking the local area and into Grasmere village."

The house was warm and comfortable and very clean. A couple of notable omissions were a coffee machine and a steamer set which would have been nice to have and there was not a lot of cutlery so we had to keep washing it up rather then using the dishwasher. We were told there would be a starter set of logs for the fire but there wasn't. The internet was down during our stay which was annoying especially as it was Christmas and we were looking forward to watching some movies and the tv's require internet. There is no satellite, cabe or terrestial tv as a backup if the internet fails. 3G is available so long as you have plenty of data but we didn't so couldn't use the tv's in the bedroom. The owner, was helpful in sending someone round with some dvd's for us to watch but Sykes Cottages and Lakelovers were useless and never called us back or responded in any way. Overall I would recommend this cottage as a great place to stay but maybe not during bank holidays when everything is closed.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I am sorry that there were issues during your stay, but I can see that we did communicate with your during your stay. We will raise the lack of log starter pack with the housekeeping team. We always recommend guests check the suitability and amenities of a property prior to booking, in order to avoid disappointment in a appliance not being provided. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and all that the area has to offer. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

  • "This cottage was the best one we’ve ever stayed in!"

Beautifully decorated and everything thought of - there were little things like Tupperwares in the kitchen to use on a walk, scrabble and other games in the lounge and then the most luxurious baths in the windows enjoying the views and each bedroom with an en suite and TV. We stayed as a family of 4 with each child having their own room but it would work equally well for 3 couples/people as you have your own space. The location, walking distance to grasmere is fantastic - so many great cafes, pubs and walks straight from the cottage. We will definitely be back!

  • "We had such a wonderful stay."

The beds were comfortable and the house has been done to a high standard. It felt clean and cosy. We will definitely be coming back to stay. The views really made it and the garden space was lovely so the view could be enjoyed. There was a welcome hamper on arrival which was a nice touch. The only issue we had was finding any information on the WiFi code but we managed to ring through the booking to find this out. A welcome book would be useful to give some information on how things work but it didn’t affect our stay. Perfect retreat!

Thank you so much for your kind comments. We are sorry that there was an issue with the WiFi, we will look into it. We are glad that you enjoyed everything that the property and area have to offer. Lakelovers Owner Relations Property Owner

  • "A beautiful property with amazing views from the bedrooms but views from living room and outside, although allowing privacy were partially obstructed by unpruned trees/bushes."

The property has everything needed, although instructions on how to use cooker & washing machine would have been useful. Hand soap, shower gel and body cream were in the each of the bathrooms, which was a nice touch and the beds were one of the most comfortable we have slept in. The only negative is the access to the property. The steps down are very slippery when wet and when walking backwards and forwards with luggage it is very tiring and it is on a hill. If you are less able I would not advise you to book this property due to the access. I would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again.

  • "An exceptional house located just outside the main village."

However there were no instructions to the multiple heating controls or the wifi (username/password). There were a few maintenance issues which were resolved by the third day. Overall it is maintained to a high standard and the views from the baths are incredible.

Thank you for your kind comments, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and the views! We take your comments on board. We hope to welcome you again. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
