"A fabulous place for a long weekend in the heart of the Lake District."
Location right in the middle of Grasmere enabling us to walk/ hike everywhere we needed to. Would definitely recommend and rebook in the future!

"Such a lovely apartment, comfortable, clean, cosy, and boot room was very handy."
Such a lovely location in the middle of Grasmere, near the pubs and restaurants. Parking was very easy, just over the road. We had a fabulous weekend.
That's great to hear, we're really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Shepherds Crook so much! The parking permit can now be used in any car park operated by the Lake District National Parks Authority which is great for exploring even more! Property Owner

"We had a lovely stay at Shepherd’s Crook."
It’s a beautiful apartment with super views of the surrounding fells. Really cozy to relax in after a day walking! Spotlessly clean and well maintained. We will most definitely be back. Thank you!
Thank you so much! Really pleased you enjoyed your stay and loved the house as much as we do! Property Owner

"This is a lovely house in a wonderful location."

"Shepherds Crook was an excellent place to stay in Grasmere."
We were three couples and two singles and stayed over New Year. The facilities are excellent and its very clean and comfortable. All bedrooms decorated to a high standard. Kitchen on the small side for catering for 8 but had everything we needed and more. All accommodation on 1st and 2nd floor.1 car parking space in the village car park. We would definitely return.

"Everything was great!"
The only small piece of feedback would be to have more washing up tablets as we only had 2 for the dishwasher...but was no real issue as we just washed up the old school way instead using the sink :)

"Just spent a brilliant week at Shepherds Crook."
The cottage is beautifully decorated, airy and light and we loved the little touches like the nightlights and the games cupboard. Having parking included and being across the road from the bus stop made it easy to travel around the area. The location is great for everything in the village and there’s always a bit of a buzz in the street outside. The bedrooms are all doubles and with 3 bathrooms and 4 toilets in total so there are no queues in the morning. The property was well equipped – dishwasher, washer/drier, iron/ironing table, boot drier in the separate boot room, smart TV and smart speaker. Jamie and Cheryl, the owners have clearly given a lot of thought to their guests’ needs and experience and created a very welcoming environment. We had a couple of minor issues but these were dealt with promptly, efficiently and courteously – in fact the communication and customer service from Jamie was always above and beyond. I would thoroughly recommend Shepherds Crook to anyone thinking of a holiday in The Lakes as a family or group of friends

"A beautiful apartment in a great location"

"A group of six adults rented this property for New Year 2022."
As soon as we walked in we were impressed with the design and facilities that were on offer. We did have a problem with the oven but a call to the emergency number on New Years day was dealt with and an electrician arrived and promptly fixed it within 2 hours. Would have no hesitation to stay here again and would certainly recommend it to anyone.

"Cracking location and beautiful house!"
Thank you very much, glad you had a great stay! :) Property Owner

"Very nice and clean place!"
The location is also very nice as you are in the middle of the Lake District. Finding the place and parking was a little confusing so if they can make it clear with a picture map that would be perfect. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, thank you!
Thank you very much and we appreciate your feedback. We've updated our arrival info to make it clearer for future guests. Property Owner

"A wonderful place to stay, very clean upon arrival."
The beds are very comfortable and the amount of bathrooms was great - the Children really enjoyed having their own en suites! Grasmere is a really lovely village to stay in, with plenty of places to eat and shop.
-
"This property is on many levels and mezzanine areas on each floor but good exercise in preparation for the fells."
It is comfortable and well equipped. In a good central position in the village but it’s difficult to find parking for a second car. Our holiday was in the middle of a heatwave so walking was planned early morning and lots of picnics by rivers. Being an old house it kept cool and comfortable.

"We had a fabulous stay."
Wonderful facilities, gorgeous cottage, beds very comfortable, showers and bath brilliant. Perfect setting in the middle of Grasmere, very quiet on an evening. We loved our stay and hope to come back very soon

"A lovely house, beautifully furnished and presented and very comfortable."
Great sized rooms and plenty of bathrooms and loos and hot water. The downsides were the lack of parking near the house. Although the site said parking for 1 car, I hadn’t appreciated that it was free parking for 1 car within the local car park. This made unloading the car difficult. We were catering for 8 people, so had a lot of food boxes. Also checkout time is extremely early at 9:30am. We felt this was probably a hangover from Covid regulations, but given those regulations no longer apply, and we had checked and the house wasn’t booked for the next day, this seems excessive. We felt the guidance still in the house regarding completely stripping the beds was also excessive, given the bags for putting the bedding in were nowhere to be found and also given the costs of the house, we felt it was a bit much to ask us to strip the beds and be out by 9:30. One other niggle was that the dishwasher was full of dirty crockery and cutlery when we arrived.

"We loved this property!"
It was the favorite part of our two week trip in that area. Two points of concern: 1) the matress on the double bed in the first bedroom near kitchen is bad. It has two springs poking up making it very difficult to sleep on. 2). The front door opens right into difficult to see traffic often coming quite fast and is quite dangerous. Perhaps a mirror across the street pointing back could give more perspective on whether traffic is coming before sticking your head around to see. Again, we loved this property and would absolutely stay here again!

"Thank you for accommodating us ."
This is a lovely place, perfectly situated and we had a wonderful break. Walking directly from the cottage is a real treat and the bus links to Keswick and Ambleside are great. Parking is a premium is Grasmere and we benefitted greatly from the free parking pass for the car park which is less than 2 minutes walk. We found loading and unloading the car directly outside the property was not problematic .

"Beautiful property… somewhere I could easily live myself full time!"
Sometimes in rental properties things like sofas etc are poor quality and uncomfortable but the cottage was home from home. All facilities, ideal location and the free parking pass was a nice touch
-
"The check in and check out times alone mean we would not recommend this property to anyone else and whilst we will continue to return to Grasmere we would not stay in this property even though it met our requirements and we liked the property."
To check in at 4pm is a really disruptive time when you have a young family but it was just about tolerable. To check out at 9.30am on holiday is brutal and unnecessary. Not least because nothing in Grasmere opens until at least 10am so you have no where to go. A hangover from Covid maybe but an excuse nevertheless. We were not advised of the check in times when we booked the cottage and if we were, we would not have booked. We are really disappointed that this had such a disruptive impact on what should have been a really enjoyable stay.
Hi, I’m the owner of Shepherds Crook and am very sorry to hear about this. I totally agree with you! The check in and check out times are set directly by the company we employ to handle the changeovers for us. I was unaware that any COVID times were still in force. I will feed your comments back to them and request it be changed. We want all our guests to have a relaxing stay and leave with great memories so I’m sorry that this wasn’t the case for you and your family. Property Owner

"The cottage was fantastic and a great location, would definitely go back."
A proper drying area for wet clothes would be really good but otherwise we loved it.
-
"The Cottage was amazing, spacious and well situated for everything in the Lakes."
The only downside was the lack of parking near to the cottage ( a car park permit was included and the car park was a 3-4 minute walk away) but this was not always pleasant in the rain!
-
"The flat was extremely comfortable and very well equipped."
Perfectly placed for walking in the area straight from the door or taking the bus. Parking in Grasmere at peak season is a nightmare. As a large family group, we had two cars. Often we would travel up in three cars. With only one car park permit, we had to drive one car outside the village to find a space. Otherwise paying for parking was very expensive.

"Grasmere is the gem in the Lake District’s crown."
Shepard’s Crook was a fabulous place to stay, not only for it well appointed and comfortable accommodation, but also for its superb location. We came to hike the many trails and we were absolutely astounded by the beauty and the quaintness of it all. Shepherd’s Crock made it that much more special, as many of the hiking trails are right at your doorstep. We were most grateful and very thankful for what was a memorable week. The price when we initially booked seemed somewhat dear, but after having stayed there, it repressed great value. Both Shepherd’s Crook and Grasmere are highly recommended.

"Great house, lovely rooms and would stay again."
Couple areas for improvement are 1) the kitchen pots and pans were all very small, for a 4 double bedroom house the cooking equipment could be wise appropriate, 2) advice was to park over the road, this is a pay and display car park, it doesn't mention that 5 mins walk the other side of Grasmere is free roadside parking!!
-
"The cottage is gorgeous and the bedrooms were very roomy and 2 had ensuite ."
The cottage is central to all the amenities and an added bonus was that you got a 10% discount in the Good Sport Bar if you just told them you were staying at the cottage. Will definitely be staying there again.
-
"We have visited twice to this property and will not return to it or any other that doesn’t have parking."
We really struggled with parking at a cost of £9 per day per car (we had 2 cars), it cost a lot of money over and above the already expensive cost of the rental.
-
"We had an extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay in Grasmere."
All of the rooms were beautiful and well furnished and the location is perfect for walking or catching the handy buses to other sites in the area.
-
"The accomodation was in excellent condition, very well furbished & equipt."
My wife & I know the area well & we brought our daughter son in law & four grandchildren to experience the area. One thing I would ask that you make known is the issues over car parking, albeit you state there is a space for three vehicles to park free just up the road on Stock Lane the spaces were always full i guess due to the fact that it was summer. We found that the only other alternative was to use the car parks & the cheapest option for the week was to use the Red Bank Lane car park which is about 100yds along Stock Lane opposite the church. This cost £30 for the week & can be paid for either over the phone which us fully automated & if you hit a snag forget it!! as you can't get any sense out of it. Fortunately my daughter worked out how to pay online but there was no way to explain to the other end about the difficulties experienced. Apart from that it was a enjoyable holiday & I would recomend this accomodation, thank you.

"Shepherds Crook is a large, spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable home."
It’s centrally located in Grasmere for local village facilities, bars and restaurants and ideal for adults wanting to explore the area on foot. There are some superb walks straight from the doorstep. Sadly, Shepherds Crook is not so suitable for families. It is a flat above a shop on the main road through the village. The property is on a sharp bend, there is no footpath to step out onto. There is no parking - all bags, babies, etc need to be carried from the main car park. Parking is £8 per day. Plus, Shepherds Crook is directly opposite ‘The Good Sport’ which is a noisy bar in the summer. Lots of singing, shouting, swearing this week until after midnight which isn’t what you expect in a quiet village like Grasmere. All in all an ideal property for couples who want to walk by day and spend the evening in The Good Sport.
-
"The fact that there was absolutely everything a family needed and the place was decorated to the highest standard made our stay extremely comfortable."
There is one thing, however, that the owners should be made aware of. A group of 4 people were talking loudly and laughing outside the Good Sport opposite until 1.30 am. Every room at Shepherd's Crook was kept awake by them. I don't know whether they were customers or staff but if you had spent a day walking in the hills it would not be what you would want and maybe Shepherd's Crook would not be your future choice. As it is probably the only holiday let on that stretch of street, there may not have many people who were aware of the nuisance. I realise that Grasmere has to cater for the residents where amenities are concerned so perhaps a word to the town council might be effective. Apart from that our stay was excellent.
-
"This is a beautiful cottage."
Very well presented with absolutely everything you need. Great location. Parking is a bit tricky but the cottage more than makes up for this. Would definitely love to stay again.
-
"A wonderful, spacious place to stay , very well equipped and a superb location for walkers."
-
"Our Family regularly visit Grasmere and try to stay pretty close to each other."
We like the freedom a cottage gives us and Shepherds Crook was a lovely property, well appointed, a bit quirky in it's layout and probably not good for someone who doesn't like stairs but it suited us brilliantly. Would definitely recommend

"I recently spent the weekend at the cottage with 6 close friends and my husband to celebrate his 60th birthday."
We were all very excited and the cottage was al we expected. However after being told on a couple of occasions that we could not access the property till 3pm imagine our reaction to arriving there at exactly that time and the cleaners still in and working! We had been told earlier approximately 1pm that they had not arrived. This caused us alarm as I know how long it takes to do a deep clean having managed a cleaning company many years ago. We accessed the property as per the contract at 3pm and it was chaos. We couldn’t access common areas as they were will being cleaned. The lady cleaning the kitchen said this was normal as they were always busy at the weekends. I did confirm to her this was not my business and she had a duty to have the property ready. They did not exit the building till 4pm and this caused a problem with our guests. This is not acceptable. The cottage itself was perfect and we had a lovely weekend. The beds were so comfortable and all amenities provided for a luxurious stay. The earlier problem is being addressed with the managing company Sykes.

"We had a lovely time at Shepherds Cook."
The house was lovely and in a fantastic location, within easy reach of Keswick and Windermere.
-
"Everything was lovely."
Very clean. Not for people who can't manage a few stairs. The only downside for us is its not dog friendly. But will be back for group get aways
-
"Shepherds Crook is conveniently located in the quiet village of Grasmere, a very short walk to pubs, cafes, shops etc."
Stunning scenery on the doorstep (and out of the window). The property itself is in very good condition, decorated and furnished to a high standard with everything you need for a week away. Bedrooms are great size too. The only negatives which are very minor - the boot room is too cold to dry anything and it would be great to have a drying rack for washing.
-
"Really well presented house with lots of space and a very appointed kitchen with a washer dryer (great for sorting clothes after long muddy hikes)."
The house was prepped for Christmas with a fully decorated tree and all the trimmings with a welcome bottle of Prosecco and a personalised welcome message to the family. 5 stars!
