  • "What a beautiful property in a stunning location."

It’s one of the best we have ever stayed at and certainly is in terms of the outside space! It was very relaxing and tranquil. It will not disappoint. Perfect outdoor space for dogs. Milo certainly loved it. Well equipped. Near supermarkets and the charming town of Ulverston. A great base for exploring the Lake District. We had great weather so was able to sit out most days and play with our dog on the lawn. The garden is enclosed. There is just one small corner where we felt could do with some board up where the hosepipe was situated. We worried that our small dog could get through and down on to the lane below. Apart from that it was a perfect property.

The property

Settled on the outskirts of the quaint village of Great Urswick, on the edge of the desirable Lake District National Park, rests this spectacular detached holiday home, Limestone.

Boasting a contemporary, open-plan interior beautifully-adorned with high quality fixtures and furnishings and enjoying a peaceful setting, Limestone makes an idyllic base for a group of six seeking a rural retreat.

Be charmed by the exquisite monochromatic décor of your new home-from-home as you step inside and make yourself at home in the open-plan living space, gently warming your toes on the underfloor heating as you move through the home.

Look forward to putting your feet up as you unwind with a seat on the plush corner sofa, enveloped in the warmth of the woodburning stove in the cooler months.

The well-designed kitchen tucked away at the rear of the sociable space is equipped with a fabulous range of amenities to assist with your self-catering needs, and the nearby dining table provides a lovely spot to gather together and indulge with your loved ones.

In the warmer weather, throw open the elegant bifold doors and let the fresh countryside air breeze through the property, or venture outdoors and end your day in style in the sauna or plunge pool.

When sleep calls, retreat indoors to catch your rest in one of three well-presented bedrooms, with the choice between a super-king-size, a king-size and a twin, each benefiting from their own television; enjoy a spot of evening television from the comfort of the covers.

Completing the property is an immaculate family bathroom equipped with both a bath and overhead shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for the day.

A traditional country pub, The General Burgoyne, can be found a short walk away from your holiday home, serving hearty, homecooked meals in a rustic setting, whilst a wider variety of choice can be found in the nearby town of Dalton-in-Furness.

Whilst you're in the area, be sure to explore the iconic landmark of The Birkrigg Stone Circle, positioned amongst the rolling landscape of Birkrigg Common, thought to have a history dating back to 1400 BC.

Be sure to pack your clubs and spend a peaceful afternoon amongst the greenery of Ulverston Golf Club, or head into the heart of the town to tour the fascinating exhibitions on display at the Laurel and Hardy Museum, devoted to the English comic, Stan Laurel who was born in the area.

The cottage sits within easy reach of the Lake District National Park, where a network of walking, cycling and hiking trails lead through the vast landscape, ideal for those seeking a spot of adventure; lace up your walking boots and tackle the challenging climb to the summit of Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England.

A rural retreat like no other awaits at Limestone.

Where you’ll be staying

GREAT URSWICK

Ulverston 3 miles.

Great Urswick, with its two characterful pubs, including 16th century restaurant and 12th century church, is a hidden gem, a lovely village just three miles to the south of Ulverston. Great Urswick and its neighbour, Little Urswick, lie on opposite sides of the same tarn. The tarn is a wonderful wildlife habitat with a whole host of water birds occupying its sheltered corner. Birkrigg Stone Circle is one of several prehistoric settlement sites in the surrounding countryside. Locally, the start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths can be found. Nearby Ulverston is an ancient market town, which still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday, with facilities including a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. All of the attractions of the Lake District National Park are easily reached, with the Furness Coast boasting sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Windermere and Coniston are also within easy reach, and nearby family attractions include the Haverthwaite and Lakeside Steam Railway, Muncaster Castle and the Aquarium of the Lakes.
