  • "Very good pool for all ages, house is showing wear and tear, lots of little niggles like shower head in Manchester is held up by a piece of string and only points to the wall, SERIOUS PROBLEM in kitchen, the extractor hood above the hob is fitted at forehead height, every one of us banged their head or eye during the first few days, THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, the cleaner knew it was a problem, if someone gets eye damage you are in for a big lawsuit, also there is a loose stone step at the front door, my son took a tumble, an older person could have been seriously hurt, fractured hip or arm, I did report this to your agent."

You must get these things fixed, I expected a higher standard for £4000.00

  • "The house is beautiful with amazing views and a fantastic set up both inside and outside, we had an amazing long weekend."

Favourite bits = upstairs lounge was beautiful spot to drink and overlook the lake as was one of the bedrooms, all the double rooms were bright, spacious and comfortable, dining room was enormous and easily sat everyone, pool and hot tub were warm and easy to use with beach towels provided, really well equipped kitchen that was a great social space and plenty of bathrooms for everyone, ample parking and location is great for walks/lake access and so many attractions close by. Minor opportunities for improvement = several trades people kept coming and going around the gardens/pool over a couple of the days which wasn't a major problem but would have preferred to have been aware of it in advance instead of being surprised by strangers turning up outside the window/in the pool room, the main gate broke at one point however this wasn't an issue for long as there was (another) contractor already at the house who managed to fix it open

  • "Stayed with partner and parents and our 2 dogs."

House isn’t the easiest to find in the dark but place is spacious, clean and cosy. Couldn’t fault the size of rooms and comfort of beds. Private pool was amazing for lazy afternoons in the house and separate living space upstairs was good to get away from the in laws, can imagine in summer it’s even more relaxing! Having pub next door was ideal for when we didn’t want to cook, It was perfect location and the house was amazing for what we wanted. We would love to come back however couple issues that would put us off - biggest one and main reason we booked was because it states an ‘enclosed garden’. There’s no fence on one side and an open car port on other side and with no lighting on the grass area to keep an eye on them it resulted in our dog very nearly ending up on the very busy road and trying to clean up after them in the dark is impossible. Also a metal bucket for ashes from the log burner would prevent us near setting the place on fire. Fix these 2 things and we’d be back in a heartbeat!

Hi Charlotte, Thank you for your feedback. I agree with the points you have made. I have instructed a fence to enclose the back garden and I have added an ash bucket. Thank you for taking the time to give feedback Emma Property Owner

  • "We arrived at the Alloa to find we were locked out."

There was a key for the front door but not the porch door. We called for assistance, no joy in any of the 4 key safe boxes or in another location where it took some time to get the correct combination to gain access. The quickest someone could get to us with a key was 90 Minutes! We were told an engineer had locked the porch door and that a previous guest had got the keys safes muddled. Not having anyone check that there are the correct keys if there is work is going on seems basic knowing you have guests arriving. When we were only there for 2 nights, this was not the best start to our stay! The WIFI was not working, we called the owner again on the Saturday and were told it should be back up in an hour, but to no avail! A couple of the rooms the bedside lamps didn't work. Shower above the bath upstairs did not work.

Thanks Jill for your feedback I am sorry about the key mix up. The cleaning company had the old porch keys on their set which we stopped using and I thought they had given back. A new cleaner started who has been with us since and she accidentally locked it. It won’t happen again but I do apologise. The shower was mended as was the light. Many thanks Emma Property Owner

  • "We had a brilliant time staying at Alloa."

The property was fantastic for the whole family. The pool, hot tub, separate sitting room with games console and gardens were a huge hit and worked really well. The location couldn’t have been better and allowed us to do kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, rock climbing, abseiling and e-bike hire easily. We also visited Coniston, Derwent water, Keswick and Lowther Castle easily. Alloa was also in walking distance of a couple of local pubs which was great to not have to take the car. The area was especially dog friendly which just made the holiday even more enjoyable, there were even a couple of nearby walks where she could safely swim - at higher damn and fell foot. Thank you so much for a brilliant stay!

Thank you for the lovely feedback ☺️ Property Owner

  • "There were several issues regarding maintenance and also safety."

In the sitting room the smoke alarm was covered with a thin plastic cover which should have been removed at installation. This is not only a safety issue but also illegal. In one en-suite shower room the sliding door to the shower fell off at it’s first use. It was clear by the amount of grease on the runners that this was not a new issue. After reporting this someone did come and “ repair” the door - only to apply more grease. The door came off again and therefore one couple had to use another shower. The property is for a maximum of ten people and it was inconvenient not having more sets of keys.

Thank you for the feedback Margaret. I apologise about the shower. It had a bad run but it is all good now. I had just had the alarm fitted prior to your arrival and I hadn’t been in the property. They should have removed the plastic. I will add a key box for guests for ease of access for all guests so multiple copies is too risky. Thank you Property Owner

  • "We loved the house a great location and the pool was an absolute bonus with the kids We loved the views from the front rooms and the games room upstairs was very well equipped The property is a little tired and could do with a little bit of general decorating and work there was a couple of tiles missing in the pool which caused one of the kids to cut their foot and the bbq wasn’t the best in terms of cleanliness We did have dogs with us but the guests before us must have not cleaned up properly before we arrived as we had a few extra parcels so to speak There was quite a lot of dust about and we did keep on top hoovering and mopping during our stay but there were quite a few cob webs about like I said the property was in a great location with good facilities and the kitchen was well equipped and we had the best time making some incredible memories, the contacts were very helpful answering all questions and left us a lovely bottle of wine on arrival which was a nice treat ."

, with some little touching up and review of cleaning schedule for me it would make this a much better stay all round based on personal preference I hope this rounded honest view is welcome and thanks again for a great stay we made a lot of great memories

  • "A good house for a large group of people in a great location however there were a few minor irritations that with a bit of attention could have made so much difference."

2 of the bedrooms downstairs had little or no hanging space, why no hooks on doors then? Super king beds but king size bedding so nothing fitted. No information folder so when a light bulb blew and tripped the fuse for the lighting circuit downstairs we could not find the fuse box. Eventually managed to reach the help number provided the next morning. Apparently the fuse box is in the garage, with the key for that in the porch, no it wasn’t, but another call informed us that a new key safe had been added in the car port so we were given the code for that and were able to sort the problem. No replacement bulbs though, or for the light fitting in the living room that had some missing. In the kitchen the bulbs above the sink are missing/ not working so difficult to wash up. One tiny sponge scourer left, one tea towel. Not really adequate for 10 people cooking every day for a week even with the dishwasher working overtime. It is difficult to know exactly what to expect in a house but other places we have stayed in have been far more comprehensively stocked. The shower cabinet in one room had a sliding door which was off the track and difficult to close as some of the runners had broken. This problem was notified to the number given but as we managed to get it back in the track enough to be able to just about close it nothing was done. Inside the cabinet there was black mould in the track which could only be seen from inside with the door closed so unlikely to be seen by the cleaner. No cleaning materials left so we were unable to clean it ourselves. We understand that the place is owned by a business rather than an individual owner which explained perhaps why it lacked personal touches. I hope this doesn’t sound like finding fault for the sake of it but with a bit of care and attention it could be so much better.

  • "We had a wonderful week at this family friendly property."

The four children ( age range 6-14) loved the pool which was well maintained. The house was warm and very well equipped. Owner was easy to contact and willing to deal with any problems. Lounge furniture beginning to look and feel tired. Kitchen would benefit from blinds as the sun was very strong on the food preparation area. We didn't use the garden as the pool and local walks occupied everyone. The NT property at Fell Foot excellent. The Swan pub a lovely place to have a drink by the river. The walk from there to lLakeside station an easy one but don't rely on the cafe being open ! Sainsbury did a food delivery and we enjoyed shoppping at Booths in Ulverston.

Hi Gillian, I appreciate your feedback. We have reviewed the lounge furniture and have added a 2 new 4 seater sofas and 2 arm recliners with foot stools. It is extremely comfortable for 10 now. Thank you Property Owner

  • "We purposely booked this cottage as it advertised an enclosed rear garden."

This is not the case at all and therefore could not allow dogs outside unless on leads. Other than this a very well equipped cottage for a large family group and we had an enjoyable stay.

We are adding fences to enclose the garden Thank you for the feedback Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage with beautiful views."

We stayed to celebrate my 60th birthday with family, which included 3 young children. Great kitchen and bedrooms. Large living room however both large couches were comfortable but very tired. Lovely wood burner but disappointed we didn’t receive a starter pack especially as we stayed when temperatures dropped below zero. Extremely disappointed with the heating and hot water which caused problems throughout our stay. The owners were contactable but many trips in the snow to the garage to sort it did spoil our stay. Often unable to shower or run a bath for the little ones. On a positive note the pool was lovely and the hot tub.

Apologies for the heating issues. We had a new system installed so plenty of hot water. Thank you Property Owner

Thank you for the feedback The pool is set to 28.c which is the same as all commercial pools. I apologise about the lights. A storm caused an issue to them but we have eventually worked out the fault. Many thanks Property Owner
