  • "This lodge is in a lovely quiet location."

It’s rural and unspoiled. You will need to ensure you take provisions with you as there are no local shops, but about 20 mins drive away there are plenty of quality supermarkets. Will definitely revisit this location again.

We or our offspring will use it as a base for Lakes going forward. Owners a delight and were readily available for any issues, of which there were none.

Water Yeat is a small hamlet in the Crake Valley, not far from the shores of Allan Tarn, featured in Arthur Ransome's book Swallows And Amazons as Octopus Lake, and a 10 minute walk from the shores of Coniston Water in the beautiful Lake District National Park. At the southern tip of Coniston Water, where Allan Tarn turns into the Crake River, lie the Hamlets of Water Yeat and Nibthwaite. Coniston Water, one of the most imposing and beautiful English Lakes, is situated to the west of Lake Windermere. To the northern end of the lake, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park and makes a superb base for touring Hawkshead, the Langdales, Ambleside and Windermere. Also in the area is Beacon Tarn, featured on Britain’s Favourite View and also reached when venturing along the Long Distance Path of Cumbria Way. Beacon Tarn is a wonderfully tranquil place and well worth a visit. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man, Tilberthwaite and Wetherlam, while Grizedale Forest offers lovely woodland trails.
