  • "The property is gorgeous, very very clean!"

Perfectly decorated and modern. The only slight thing is it not being enclosed so having to take our dog out on a lead each time was annoying but it wasn’t the end of the world! Absolutely loved our stay!

Everything was catered for, I can't think of anything I would change. Thank you.

  • "Beautiful property, facilities perfect for a stay in the Lakes."

Good location for walks and local villages. Would have appreciated knowing that the attached property is being renovated, some drilling and banging.

Many thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. We’re very sorry that you weren’t notified by the holiday company about the neighbouring renovation. Unfortunately, on Monday a chimney stack had to be repaired, which was external work. Property Owner

  • "It is a beautiful cottage, in a great location."

The cottage is located next to a working farm, which we didn't mind at all it was lovely to hear the cows mooing. We had lots of days out at Ambleside, Coniston, Grisedale forest, and Hawshead, which were all close by. The cottage has a lovely little outdoor area. However, due to the garden not being enclosed, we weren't able to enjoy it as it would have ment having the do on the lead.

We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Unfortunately there has been a delay with the fencing, but we’re very much hoping it will be erected in the coming weeks. Property Owner

The only issue we faced was after one of us had a 15 minute shower the water would be cold, other than that it was absolutely lovely and will definitely return in the future :)

Many thanks for visiting us. We’re so sorry you experienced a problem with the shower. We will look into this because it is a 150 litre hot water tank and this hasn’t happened previously. We look forward to your next visit! Property Owner

  • "A beautiful central place to stay which is perfect for visiting the local area."

We enjoyed going to Hawkshead, Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick, Kendal and Bowness- all a short distance away. The cottage is situated next to a farm so we enjoyed hearing the cows mooing every morning! Small things to note; sadly there was no Visitors Book which would have been appreciated so that we too, could write restaurant, pub, walk recommendations to future guests, as it’s always lovely to have suggestions based on others’ feedback. Also we brought our own dog towels for muddy paws which was lucky as none were provided, no charging point for shaver/electric toothbrush either, which was a shame in such a modern and stylish bathroom. Lovely outside seating area that sadly we were unable to use as it isn’t enclosed for dogs, and we didn’t want to keep him on a lead after being on one all day. Would be perfect if it could be fenced off away from the farm track.

Many thanks for your constructive feedback. The bathroom mirror has a built in light, Bluetooth speaker and also a charging point for shaving/toothbrush - it’s on the side of the mirror so perhaps you missed it. We’ll be fencing off the patio area very soon, so hope you decide to return to visit again. Property Owner

The location was perfect for us. The outside space was fab & were lucky with the weather! The cottage insde was perfect, clean bright & comfy. Well thought out throughout. Well equipped the kitchen. The property is about 1.3 miles from Hawkshead either down the lanes or footpath across the fields. The pub in Outgate is slightlyy closer but isn't currently open. We very much enjoyed our stay here & will be back

So pleased that you enjoyed your stay and will be returning to us. The pub in Outgate reopens in a few weeks, so will be open next time. Property Owner

About the location

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 5.1 miles; Kendal 17.4 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.
