There was no ice bucket for the hot tub and the sun lounger chairs shown on the decking area were lying on the grass in front of the hut covered in mud. I have however recommended the place to friends and family so certainly not put off at all.

We were away for our Birthday and took our wee dog with us. Cabin was decorated really nicely and had everything we needed already there. Bed was super comfy and we had a great sleep. Nice touch with our gift of a bottle of fizz and two pies - which were so tasty! Thank you! The weather wasn’t great while we were there but we still had a nice relaxing time and the nature around us was so nice, even spotted a bat and an owl at night! The only thing I would detail is that I wouldn’t class it as ‘dog friendly’ only because the area isn’t closed off for the dog to be let off the lead to run around freely! Other than that the space is looked after, nice big area to wander around and the wee pond with the ducks and babies was so nice to wake up to.

. from the moment we arrived I felt instantly relaxed. We was welcomed with a bottle of fizz and homemade food. Also decorated for us as this was our honeymoon. This extra touch made it so special. The views are to die for. The hut itself is beautiful, it was spotless and has everything you need. The 2 day hamper is amazing and lasted us about 3 days atleast. Log burner was more than enough to keep you warm. Hot tub was gorgeous also. We took our two small dogs and they loved it. Only thing would of helped would be the balcony had little gates to block of so we can keep let them out not worrying they would run of on the grounds, but this is not a massive thing as I do not want to put anything negative about high rigg. I really did not want to come home. We will definitely be back in the summer to try another cabin. Thank you so much for everything

The grounds are beautiful, we spent most of our time looking over the water and surroundings, it just felt so perfect being nestled amongst the trees in this quiet slice of heaven. The wildlife around us was a bonus too and so nice to just spend time watching throughout the day. We loved that the owner was so lovely to chat to and loved hearing how the property has been built from the beginning. We were so sad to leave the beautiful surroundings and chilled out nights with the hot tub and amazingly comfy bed! This place could not be any more ideal in my eyes and we are already wanting to come back as soon as we can. It was perfect for us and the owners had made this getaway so welcoming and comfortable. The view across the lake was stunning, which was beautiful and frozen due to the time of year. The hot tub was a winner and checked by David during our stay. The hut was cosy and very warm, we didn’t even need to put the wood burner on despite the frosty weather. The Prosecco was a lovely touch and it was decorated beautifully for Christmas with a tree outside which made our wedding anniversary perfect. Only thing we would suggest would be a couple more basics would have been helpful, such as sugar, salt pepper and more tea and coffee, perhaps some condiments too. The mattress was a little sloped in the middle which made it uncomfortable (perhaps needs changing soon) but otherwise we had a perfect stay. Thankyou.

  • "We had the most Delightful stay for the last week in October."

My partner and I were in awe by the views. The proprietor greeted us warmly shortly after our arrival to ensure we had everything we needed. There were several other Shepherd huts located on the beautiful land they own. We were able to glimpse some however others were well tucked away. Our hut was closest to the road / very large pond and we enjoyed spectacular sunsets and views overall. This meant some increased passers by but we didn’t find this intrusive. Several visits from cows while we cooked or played music. The interior of the hut was surprisingly big in comparison to others I’ve stayed in. It had everything we needed and all to a high spec. Plush towels, nice interior decoration, robes and romantic vibes. The en-suite was tight but useable and we preferred having the more spacious living area. The bed was SO comfy and log burner warmed us up really well. The main reason for booking was the covered hot tub and we were not disappointed. The lights in the tub itself didn’t work however the outside space had lots of exterior lighting and fairy lights which compensated. David tends to the tub daily which we were grateful for and given the time of year we simply recovered and allowed time for the tub to reheat when the temperature dropped. We would definitely return and I’m keen to possibly stay in some of the other huts too. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to our family and friends what isn’t to live - lush homemade shepherds pie and fizz thrown in!!

It was so cute and cosy. Really clean. What we loved the most is that the small details have been thought out. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stayed in a hot tub lodge and there is no where to hang your dressing gown or a place to put your drinks/belongings. So it ends up going on the floor and getting wet. These provided lovely dressing gowns, slippers and the hot tub area had lovely lights, a place to hang your stuff and a place for your drinks/mobile etc. The cover over the hot tub was great and meant you could use it regardless of the weather. The views were beautiful too and even though we didn’t meet the hosts personally, we felt very looked after. We were even given Shepard’s pies and a bottle of champers. Very personal and we will definitely return. Only thing was that the lights didn’t work in the hot tub which wasn’t an issue as the area itself had fairy lights and a main light if wanted. Everything exceeded our expectations. Our favourite part was definitely the hot tub. It was so easy to work and felt so nice after a long day. The property was bigger than it looked, especially the bed! I’m 6ft 7 so I was worried but it was way bigger than I first thought. There was plenty of room inside as well with a big fridge for your food and drink and a great sized oven with a double hob to cook your breakfast on. The shower was lovely and was very powerful. We had no problem with phone signal and there was a DVD player so bring some horror films for the night time like we did! I couldn’t recommend High Rigg Shepherds Delight enough! 10/10 - 5 stars! Transitioning from hot-tub, to bed, to hot-tub was made incredibly easy through the excellent provision of disposable slippers and bath robes. The scenery took your breath away, and not because I almost drowned in the neighbouring lake, which beautifully reflects the moonlight as you sip Chardonnay in the hot-tub (note: no drinks allowed in the hot-tub). Wouldn’t recommend to pregnant women as there is a sign saying that they aren’t allowed in the hot-tub. Overall 5* will be returning.

The hut itself was spotless inside and beautifully decorated, feeling so cosy and homely. The addition of the hot tub was a fantastic feature, especially with it being covered over. This meant we could enjoy the scenery and relax no matter what the weather. The position of the hot tub is also a bonus as its tucked away, meaning it's very private, adding to the experience and romantic feel to the place. Everything felt very safe and COVID secure and the hosts were very accommodating to any of our needs. About the location

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
