  • "The master bedroom is in desperate need of a net/voile curtain to let light through but for privacy as the laundry company opposite can see directly into the room."

We had to her dressed in the dark with curtains closed which was inconvenient. The cottage could do with general paint and deep clean. Furniture is looking tired and dining chairs are the most uncomfortable I’ve ever sat on. Best thing about cottage was location. Pricey considering constant disruptions of laundry company opposite and lack of parking.

  • "Bellflower Cottage is a clean, comfortable cottage, well and peacefully situated with the town centre only a short walk away."

It provided roomy accommodation for 4 adults, and was an ideal base to explore this beautiful area. The negatives were a general lack of maintenance, from the non-functioning light in the bathroom, the microwave, and a central heating system that needed an overhaul (other visitors have mentioned the leaking onto the back step) Several radiators were lukewarm. Fortunately we had brought logs/firelighters with us, which made our evenings in cosier. There was also a problem with the smoke/carbon monoxide alarms in the bedroom.... fortunately our call to Lake lovers was acted upon quickly and efficiently. With better maintenance, this could be the perfect cottage!

Great location and enough space to accommodate us even when needing to stay inside on the VERY rainy August days! We were emailed to see how we wanted the second room beds set up prior to our stay which was a lovely tough however despite requesting two singles it was set up as one large double on arrival. Our daughters are young so this wasn’t a problem but seemed strange to email and then not action the response. Overall we had a great stay with everything we needed in a lovely clean and modern cottage! Thank you

I would definitely recommend this property 2 very miner faults, the smoke alarm downstairs is so close to the oven every time I made a bacon sandwich I woke the street up and the bedroom faces a busy laundry so a net or blinds would be nice rather than closing the curtains that’s it thanks for having us

  • "The Property was an ideal base to explore this part of the Lake District."

It is close to Windermere which has a variety of shops and cafes and also a short distance from Bowness which also has a lot to offer. I had read some negative comments about the Laundry business opposite, but we didn't find this to be an issue at all, and if anything they were very quiet at all times. We had a great 7 nights stay and in this time we enjoyed the stunning scenery and managed to wear the spaniels out....

  • "We didn't sleep the first night due to how awful and lumpy the pillows were."

There was no chain on the plug to the bath, so we had to prise the plug open with a sharp knife, I ended up slipping and stabbing myself in the toe with the knife. Annoyingly I have since found a review that mentions the pillows and the plug hole, with a response to say maintenance would address it, but clearly not. There was such a pungent smell of sweaty feet coming from upstairs, especially in the TV room and the loft bedroom. This meant that the TV room could not be used and I had to share a bed with my mum due to the smell in the loft. We complained about these issues, new pillows were provided which made a big difference. Air freshener was used throughout upstairs, however the following day the smell was still really bad. Sykes has stated that I am the only one who has had an issue with the smell, this might be the case but the smell was obviously bad enough that I didn't use two of the rooms during my stay. The cottage is dated compared to the light, airy and pristine pictures you see online. Wallpaper is peeling off, walls are dirty, obviously the smell which could be coming from carpets, the sofas and chairs are stained, as well as the curtains in the living room. If you like a nice cottage and you are bothered about cleanliness, I wouldn't book this property.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We take all comments seriously and will be looking into the points raised. We were pleased to be able to provide new pillows. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "The cottage is in a good location for Windermere and Bowness, although we found it quite noisy."

It's opposite a laundry servicing company (wash bedding etc), and there's a school just round the corner, so busy with cars, at drop off/pick up times and lots of shouting with vans collecting/dropping off laundry. The outside of the front of property definitely needs re-painting or the windows maintaining as quite drafty. The rear needs tidying up from the leaves on the back door too. There was a dent in the back door from previous guests. Pillows need changing, lumpy. But beds comfy enough. It's a good cottage but could be a made even better with little touches. No logs for the burner...wet, dreary March would have been a nice welcome? We left ours for the next guests...hope they weren't removed? As it's open plan it feels quite cold so the log burner needs to be on to warm up the space. The bottom oven is temperamental and doesn't reach a hot temperature sometimes...we muddled through though. The bath is lovely but no chain on the plug so I cut my finger trying to get the plug out afterwards...I bought a chain in the end! But needs a proper one really? Overall it was a pleasant stay, weather was horrendous but we made the most of it!

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to read you cut your finger, our maintenance team will be able to see these comments and review where necessary. As this is a self catering accommodation, logs are not provided as standard. We are glad that you did enjoy your stay. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

The location is perfect for exploring the lake district and the cottage overall is lovely. The sofas and beds are both very comfortable. Having a porch was great as it meant we could take all our wet and muddy clothes off before entering the house. We had no issues with the wifi and streaming TV shows like some other guests had reported. The addition of a Christmas tree was nice. The only negatives are related to the fact we have a toddler and we felt the cottage wasn't as toddler friendly as if could be. There are no doors to the stairs (the stairs come straight off the living room) and there were quite a few glass side tables around. A travel cot and highchair is kept in the cottage but the provision of a stair gate would be wonderful!

  • "A lovely house in an ideal location in Windermere."

We had our 1 year old with us, a fire guard and high chair and travel cot were available which was great and very helpful. The house was clean and very modern and beautiful. It’s on street parking, and despite there been lots of cars parked on the street we always managed to get parked right outside the property. It had everything we needed for a lovely stay and was very comfortable. There was a few very minor things that I flagged to Sykes cottages maintenance team theses were the following: * A couple of bulbs were out (entrance way light and light above bathroom mirror) * The bathroom drain wasn’t draining very well and therefore the bath filled up with water while taking a shower. * The poster in the kitchen instructed us to empty the house bins into the outside wheelie bin at the end of our stay, but this was very confusing as the instructions were not clear enough. It didn’t say what colour the bin was or where it was located, just that it would say “Cumbrian Waste group” on the bin. There was all of the neighbours bins in the ally, none with this phrase on it, so we had no idea which one to use and very likely used the wrong bin. A bin sticker on the lid of the bin with with a number that matched the property number would resolve this confusion very simply. In addition on the Saturday evening, our second night on holiday, there appeared to be a house party nearby in one of the properties on the street, this spilled out into the street late at night and there was a group of roughly 12 drunken teenagers been very loud in the alley way right next to our rental property (as it is end of terrace house and right next to the ally way that goes down the side and around the back of the house) and they also sat right outside our house next to our car. After 30-40 minutes of them being very loud and shouting about “Jack being too drunk and sick and not being able to handle his drink” one of the local residents came out to speak with them remind them it was late and they was being far too loud and disrespectful, after this they were much quieter and eventually left. I have no idea if this was a random one off occurrence or a regular thing. It only happen on the one night during our stay. This cannot really be helped or avoided and could happen anywhere I guess. As previously stated, these were very minor things and the house and location were otherwise absolutely perfect. I only share these details so minor improvements can be made. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would stay again.

  • "The cottage was lovely but a couple of things could have made it better: - the Wi-Fi is quite poor, it didn’t cover the whole house and when trying to stream TV it would keep dropping."

Fortunately we had 4G. - the garden gate could be made abit more dog friendly. We have a sproodle (springer spaniel size dog) and he managed to escape either through the bars or underneath the first night, so we had to supervise him in the garden each time. - the kitchen was missing a large, deep oven dish. I wanted to do a pasta bake and had to spread over 2 dishes which didn’t work very well. It really was a gorgeous cottage, beautifully decorated with Denby crockery and vinegar cutlery. The shower was great and my husband claims the bed better than ours at home. We managed to park on the road outside our cottage every time and it was only a 5 minute walk into Windermere. There is also a pub - The Brookside which is only 2 mins from the cottage which serves great food. Definitely worth a visit. Other things we did with a teenager & almost 11 year old was the cinema in Bowness (15 minute walk) which has 3 screens and can be booked online and they loved Go Ape at Grizedale Forest.

It was very clean spacious and well equipped. It had everything we required for our holiday . We chose this cottage for it’s location and enclosed garden as we brought our dog along too . At the time of our visit the small back yard always seemed to have the sun and was nice to sit outside and safe for our dog . If we could make a suggestion an improvement to the back yard would be to replace the slate chips ( to prevent carrying dirt back in to house ) and have some plants ( add some colour) On the whole this is an excellent cottage it did not disappoint and would definitely return .

It is also in a nice and quiet location - yet only a few minutes walk to the centre of Windermere. We were disappointed that there were no basic provisions at the property when we arrived - not even the makings of a cup of tea - so after a long journey we had to immediately go shopping. The outdoor area was a bit of a disappointment - not really suitable to let out our dog unsupervised. Also a little disappointed at the lack of any information about local facilities, eating establishments, etc.
