  • "Adequate. The home was warm once we enquired about the heating, and included some interesting interior design choices, pillows and random trinkets bedazzled us in every corner."

The place was well positioned right between Windermere and Bowness. There were, however, two things that let the place down. The first: a lack of any kitchen products, the house is meant for 6 but had one small frying pan. There were no spices, salt, tea, coffee or basic things you would expect of a holiday rental, including washing up liquid. Normally some of the bare essentials would be provided especially considering the cost. The second, our checkout was at 10. The cleaning lady arrived at 10 on the dot, whilst we were putting our shoes on and clearly on the way out. She vehemently told us we were meant to be out and had a busy day planned, I was a bit taken aback about her abruptness as we were literally leaving when she arrived. Not the best service.

  • "We had a wonderful stay is this lovely bungalow."

The house was very comfortable, clean and tidy with a beautiful warm sun room to sit in. The beds were very comfortable and it was so quiet that we all slept very well. No noisy neighbours or busy street. Just peaceful. There was a safe and secure garden that was great for our wee dog. It was a lovely well-kept garden. The house was well positioned for walking in the local area and was only ten minutes walk to the pubs and cafes in the village: Only two areas that could be improved: The water pressure was very low for running a bath but it does give a lovely hot bath…eventually. The kitchen would benefit from more mugs, cups, plates and wine glasses. There was only 3 of us and still we ran short of items each day. However, neither of these small issues affected our stay. We had a wonderful time!

  • "I feel that the owners are very lucky to own this property in an amazing location."

Corner plot with wrap around garden. Secluded and private but some gaps in bushes where a pet could get through on to a busy road. Cottage was cold but so was the weather and we needed the fire on most of the time. Was a bit dusty especially around fireplace. Seen quite a few ants. Had problems with where to put our rubbish as couldn’t find a proper bin or recycling bin. Couldn’t find keys for most of the doors and had problems getting in with mobility walker. Was a bit apprehensive that inner door from garage and inner doors were not able to be locked. Garage was used for storage inc washer and dryer but had outside road parking. Beds were comfy, had WiFi and kitchen had all that we needed. Local shops, bars, takeout and restaurants a few minutes away in car and Bowness on Windermere Lake also a few minutes away. Great location for exploring The Lakes. I can imagine this to be even more beautiful in the summer. Will definitely recommend and hope to visit again.

  • "Apart from the fact that there was no internet, the house was well equipped and everything was ok."

The property included Wi-Fi, which was very important to us. Once there, it turned out that there was no internet and nothing could be done. The owner should not include wifi in the offer if it does not exist. If I had known that there was no wifi, I would not have rented this house.

  • "Great location."

Quirky layout of cottage, clean and comfortable. Kitchen is small but was ok for the two of us. Wraparound enclosed garden which is safe for your dog. Loved seeing the wild birds every morning. The only downside is the hot water pressure, bit slow. Would definitely return for another stay.

  • "The house was quite quirky- lots of doors, corridors and mirrors, but it was clean, comfortable and well equipped( could do with a potato peeler maybe) The dining area was quite small, ok for the 4 of us, but would be a squash for 6."

Beds were comfy and the garden was pleasant. Issues for us were the main bedroom light and 2 bedside lights didn’t work (the 3rd one did), we had to crawl under the bed in the twin room to plug in the bedside light, we had to put new batteries in the tv remote and even then it was slow to respond and the instruction book and visitors book were hidden away in the seat in the conservatory, which we didn’t find till the last day.

  • "Really lovely stay in Birds Nest Cottage."

The only gripe at all was that TV remote in master bedroom had no batteries so needed to share the ones for the living room remote

  • "Lovely bungalow, everything you need and a great outdoor space."

Kitchen is compact but with so many places to eat you shouldn't need to cook! A few light bulbs out in all rooms probably needs checking. We couldn't find keys to open the lounge door, or the middle bedroom. It would have been nice to open the lounge door. Our stay was very good despite that.

  • "It was a lovely place to stay, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed."

We have recommend it to family and friends if they go to the Lake District. The location was ideal for us and it was only a short walk to the shops, cafes and pubs although the walk back was uphill. We really enjoyed our stay.
