Well equipped, clean and well laid out. Very dog friendly (helpful having extra space in dairy to dry him off). Cake was delicious! Owners very welcoming, helpful and friendly. "A wonderful stay!"
The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. Great view of extensive countryside from the double bedroom window. Well situated for visits to Corbridge, Hexham and Hadrians Wall . Northumberland is a beautiful county and Barn Cottage provides a very good base from which to see it.
-
"Linda and dave were extremely friendly and kind ."
The cottage was very cosy and the beds were amazing . We had a beautiful homemade cake from linda . The scenery was amazing and it was lovely seeing sheep in the fields on a morning sitting on bench having a tea and listening to the birds instead of listening to loud seagulls . We had a great week and will definately come again

"A perfect holiday cottage and very helpful and informative host."
Extremely comfortable and well equipped with stunning views of the magnificent countryside. Additional bonus of milk, flowers and a fabulous chocolate cake made us feel very welcome. Perhaps it should be noted that it is quite remote ie not near to a shop and pub about 3 miles away (Rose & Crown) which is excellent,

"Excellent place, wonderful scenery, very tastefully decorated and furnished."
one of the best equipped lets we have stayed in. David and Linda such lovely couple, made to feel very welcome on arrival with makings of a brew and chocolate cake - sorry it isn't available for next year as we would have rebooked straight away. Definitely the best we have stayed in for some time. thank you.
-

"It was nice and clean, nicely equipped and in a lovely location."
There were nice views from the lane and the footpath near the property. They even made me a cake and left me a pint of milk.
-
"Ideal location and just 6 miles south of Hexham and a short drive to Hadrian's Wall."
Linda and David were very welcoming and the delicious home-baked cake was an added bonus. The cottage was well equipped and our two Border Collies also enjoyed their stay.

"An absolutely amazing stay at the most lovely property."
Couldn’t want any more. Location was perfect, hosts were amazing, the cottage was so homely and we can’t wait to come again. Would recommend to anyone. Ideal location to visit so many surrounding areas. So dog friendly too.

"Great dog friendly cottage which fulfilled the brief of being ‘in the middle of nowhere’!"
Handy for Hexham, Hadrians Wall & great dog walks all around. Cottage was lovely & well equipped. Outside shed was perfect for cleaning the dog & leaving muddy wellies/walking boots, as well as spare wood for the wood burner! Little grassed area outside cottage for the dog to use, with separate bin for dog waste. Linda & David were the perfect hosts & the chocolate cake on arrival was delicious & very much appreciated. Only extra which would have been nice was an extra set of towels when staying for a week. Otherwise it was just perfect! We’ll be back

"Excellent cottage if a little remote Beautifully maintained with everything that you could want."
-
"Beautifully kept and maintained property, a home from home feel."
Owners are very friendly and welcoming and make delicious cake!

"Great facility in a great location with excellent hosts"
-
"Your description of the property was inaccurate: your details state that the property has two bathrooms, but there was only one!"
Furthermore, the photograph gives a very different impression of the property; the rented part is a small part of the whole photograph, stuck at far end. If your description and photograph had been accurate and true, I would not have booked that property. In future, I will be looking to book cottages from another company. RNAG

"The cottage was everything we expected and as we arrived were given a warm friendly welcome."
Inside was gifts of a freshly baked cake which if it hadn’t had butter cream on would have floated away it eas so light eggs wine and milk and mid week we had plums freshly picked. The cottage had everything you would need and was spotless throughout. We enjoyed the tranquility the cottage offered and was sad to depart.
-
"Everything about this place was perfect for a family stay in Hexhamshire."
From the extremely warm welcome (including cake), the location (amazing views and star gazing) and the beautifully appointed cottage, it felt like a really special place - so much so, that we didn't want to leave. With loads to see and do in the area, for kids and adults alike, we'll certainly be back.
-
"We had a lovely stay, beautiful property and scenery."
We loved the cake and beautiful flowers and midweek farm eggs too. Thank you so much Linda and David. Only 15 minutes drive to Hexham. Would highly recommend.

"We had a wonderful midwinter stay at the Barn Cottage."
We were very lucky with the weather which highlighted the beauty of the local area around Whitley Chapel. David and Linda were perfect hosts and very friendly and helpful.
-
"An absolutely delightful cottage on a working farm."
The cottage is part of a very well built barn conversion. It is warm, comfortable and well equipped. The welcome from the owners was friendly and helpful and we loved the home-made cake! Because it is in the heart of the countryside the area is quiet and there is little light pollution at night. A real haven from a busy life. Thank you, Linda and David, for a wonderful holiday.
-

Lots of lovely walks and plenty of lovely places to visit.

"Despite Covid 19 we finally got our week in Northumberland in a superb cottage in beautiful surroundings."
Very well appointed and equipped. Linda and Dave are very welcoming hosts and fresh flowers and delicious lemon cake were a nice touch. This was not our original choice but due to cancellations and property being removed from Sykes portfolio we found The Barn Cottage. And are we glad we did!! We couldn't have wished for a better place.

"We received such a warm welcome at the cottage by Linda and David."
The cottage was immaculate and so comfortable. We loved the log burner it was great to come home to at night, but the cottage was really warm even without it, the heating was very efficient. We loved the peace and quiet on the farm and the lovely walks around the area. We visited many places while staying at the cottage, it is so close to all the Roman sites, plenty of National Trust and English Heritage too, together with lovely villages. We found all the locals very friendly too. The roads were so quiet too, we only passed a couple of cars most days, bliss when you come from a busy town yourselves. Linda and David had put a lot of thought in to providing everything to make your holiday special, including a lovely homemade cake, which was delicious. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this cottage to anyone or staying there again ourselves.
-
"The Barn Cottage is a lovely, clean, well equipped and furnished holiday home, well car4ed for by the owners."
The location 'away from the maddening crowds', with views of the country side and the farm's sheep from inside the cottage, access to great walking country and clear night skys for star gazing from the patio, provided a much needed opportunity to really wind down and relax. The internet connection is excellent should you need it and sitting in front of the log burner was really someting to look forward to after (the we cake was a real treat after a hard day's walking!). Would definitely recommended this property to those with and without dogs.
-
"The entire holiday was excellent."
We were made very welcome on arrival and greeted with a lovely cake and some flowers on the table. The barn was very well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen for our catering, the deep freeze in the utility room was useful as was the sink unit etc for preparing vegetables etc. The lounge was very comfortable - not cold enough to light the wood burner - but everything was there should we have needed it. The bedrooms and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Linda and David gave us some good advice on places to visit. Our dog, Tarka, enjoyed all the lovely walks around the farm and no problems with any animals. The dogs belonging to Linda and David were very friendly as well. We will hopefully find time to re-visit this lovely part of the country and will certainly book the barn at Steel. Keep up the good work Linda and David.

"A really great cottage, well stocked with the basic items needed in kitchen etc, the welcome cake an added bonus!"

It felt like home from home. The cottage is a delight. It is beautifully clean throughout and contains everything you could possibly need .One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in .We highly recommend Barn Cottage.

"On arrival at the property, the owner met us with a warm welcome and ready to answer any questions we had along with a welcome homemade chocolate cake."
The property itself was outstanding with so many additional features. The only items we needed were clothes and food as everything seemed to be provided and catered for. We will definitely have a return visit.
-
"We thoroughly enjoyed our few days stay at the cottage."
We found it to be the perfect escape from the general hustle and bustle of life in the suberbs! We received a warm welcome to a very comfortable and well maintained property. The facilities were good and we were further assured that if we needed anything, we only had to ask. The views of the surrounding countryside are stunning, and there is plenty to explore in the local area. Would definitely visit again.
-
"Excellent location and cottage."

"We were met and greeted an arrival with a lovely clean cottage with a freshly made cake."
Lovely views and so quiet. Highly recommend the cottage.
-
"Very well appointed cottage."
Also quite spacious. It is a little isolated and very quiet, but if this is what you are looking for you will find it perfect.
-
"Very welcoming and friendly hosts."
Cottage spotless and very comfortable. Home from home! On arrival there was a lovely homemade cake and flowers on the table. Weather was beautiful which was an extra bonus. Adopted Sooty the black labrador for the week!!!!

"Fantastic accommodation in the most wonderful of settings."
Friendly and welcoming owners and Northumberland is just perfect if you want to escape the rat race. Cannot wait to go back to The Barn Cottage and explore more of this wonderful county.

"My wife and I rented this exceptional property for a week in June."
On arrival we found the property to be spotlessly clean and easy to operate. The kitchen was well-equipped with modern appliances. There was a fridge of sufficient size to accommodate a week’s fresh groceries. The gas cooker hob was highly efficient and the electric oven was pristine – always a good sign. In the utility room there was a freezer with a washing machine and tumble dryer – ideal for those intending to stay for more than a week. The spacious living room had a comfortable settee and chair. There was supplementary lighting which meant it was easy to read after dark. There was a wood burning stove but we didn’t need to use it in June. The kind owners had provided us with a huge basket of logs if we wanted to make use of it. The dining area had a table with four chairs – as with the rest of the house this furniture was top quality and in keeping with the rustic theme. The bed rooms were relatively spacious with plenty of storage. Linens were of a very good quality and we found the bed to be perfect for a quality sleep. It was a sheer delight to wake each morning with a sumptuous view over the rolling hills, without any other sounds than bird song. The shower in the bathroom was particularly powerful and there was always plenty of hot water. The property also had a toilet downstairs – a useful feature for a larger group of guests. Wi-Fi is strong and reliable. There were many features of this property which indicated the care and thought the owners have given to ensure the well being of guests. There is a selection of DVDS and leaflets about things to do in the local area. We were welcomed to the property with a large sponge cake which was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our visit to Northumbria immensely, with its opportunities to visit traditional villages and towns. We did lots of touring in the hills – there is so much to do, especially for those interested in nature and history. The owners are to be commended for providing such an attractive and cosy holiday cottage. My wife and I have stayed in a huge number of self catering properties over the years and this is without doubt one of the very best. I would recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit this gorgeous area.

"We've rented a lot of self catering cottages over the years to explore the British Countryside, nearly all of the rentals have been good but each time there has been something missing which has made our stay less enjoyable than it could have been."
This time we had everything we needed, plenty of decent kitchen equipment and general basic supplies, we even had a cake baked for our arrival. The property was clean and well presented and in an ideal location (totally isolated!!). The owners were on hand and helpful without being a constant presence and the countryside is simply stunning. We're definitely coming back.
-
