  • "We found the upstairs of the property was finished to high standard but downstairs was on need of refurbishment."

It is in a very convenient position but lack of parking was a bit of a problem.

  • "The parking space will not fit anything other than a small (fiat 500 size car)."

Parked my car in the space couldn’t open the doors and no-one could walk past the car. My parents and sister had similar properties and were provided with parking permits. For the cost a parking permit should have been included. They also received welcome packs, which would have been a nice touch. The first night we slept terribly as the quilt was in the cover the wrong way round, which I rectified on the second night. It was a nice property, but I would stay at one of the others my family had stayed at, as they were nicer.

  • "Great location in the centre of the village."

We had a couple of minor issues on arrival and Jo speedily sorted these out for us. Thank you Jo. The upstairs of this accommodation is fabulous - very clean with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. However the downstairs lets it down. On arrival there was a greasy smell coming from the kitchen - maybe the oven filters need changing. However we weren’t planning on cooking as there are lots of restaurants close by and the smell dissipated over a few days. The sofas and chairs really need replacing as they are very uncomfortable. If this was done l’d give a 5/5.

  • "Upstairs outstanding but the kitchen very basic, cupboards smelt old and musty, fridge small and awkward to open n shut, no dish washer."

Lounge dark and old furniture. Quote depressing. We have been coming to KL every 6 weeks for 7 yrs doing childcare so disappointed with this cottage. Our usual 2 propertys have been sold so we were looking for somewhere to regularly rent but afraid this isn't the one.

  • "Spotlessly clean and lovely and modern on the 1st and 2nd floor."

Downstairs the kitchen was small but sufficient, the sofa was uncomfortable and tired. The beds however were amazing! We slept on the top floor with the baby in the travel cot. Due to time of year the room became quite light early in the morning as there was no blind on the skylight or on the top part of the window. A slight problem with gaining hot water on the last day but a quick message to the owner and they came round to try and fix it straight away. Thank you for a lovely comfortable stay.

The house is so close to the amenities it doesn’t need anything else - it is great flexible accommodation with 3 double or 3 twin rooms - which is perfect for a group of golfers - it’s spotless and so handy - just perfect

  • "The house was spotlessly clean and it’s location couldn’t be better- a one minute stroll in every direction to all amenities."

It was a really clear and easy booking process and on top of all that - and importantly, excellent value - first class all round.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
