It was open and bright, and modern whilst keeping its traditional charm. We’d recommend it for these reasons. Unfortunately, it wasn’t cleaned properly before we arrived. The floors were dirty, and there were cobwebs in the windows and on the ceiling. Many of the towels were stained. It would also be helpful to provide guest soaps, etc. in the bathrooms.

.,,Unfortunately we needed a visit from the property maintenance for the Central heating to function. The first visit was a fob off, insulting our intelligence and requiring a return visit to find the REAL problem and a THIRD visit to fit a new part... NOT very impressed...Not as we would normally expect from SYKES ( I see a third party Property Maintenance company " Lakelovers." was the interface with residents )........ALSO the downstairs shower drain was completely clogged with hair causing a flood into the bedroom.... The beds were really comfortable and the linen was of a very high standard. We appreciated the call from Sykes on our first day checking if all was fine, we mentioned one maintenance issue that was attended to that afternoon. We unfortunately broke the low glass lamp shade (on my husband's head) that wasn't hanging centrally over the table and when this was reported Sykes were very professional and understanding. There were a couple of minor cleaning issues and a bit of wear and tear but this is understandable in a property that has high levels of holiday let occupancy. Thank you! We will definitely return!!

Every single thing about this property was superbly thought out, from the really useful welcome basket, to the simple yet super comfy furnishings, fully tiled floors so you’re not worried about the mud from the day, and spacious bedrooms - each with that amazing special view!! Great kitchen, which was really well equipped with absolutely everything you might need to whip up that evening meal. It really is a stunning property. We met the 'handy man' on the date of our arrival who was fitting a part on a radiator. Very nice man. The cleaners do a fabulous job - immaculate ! A couple of things need doing: the sinks in the ensuites are really slow drainers, no light in the fridge, the mirror light didn't work in the big bathroom. There is a problem with the drainpipe at the front door. When it rains it floods down. The inventory needs updating as it doesn't correlate to what is in the kitchen. A few bits need adding/updating in the kitchen. Tiny details but thought worth mentioning. We had a wonderful week.

Any there was a total lack of cleaning items - quarter bottle washing up liquid 3 dishwasher tablets I had to buy kitchen cleaner to leave property as requested and clloths. Stay a couple of times a year in high rated cottages in lakes and this is the only one lacking in cleaning items. The pans and certain crockery items in cupboard had to clean before able to use. But overall the property is beautiful and would return. Private parking signs should be erected as people had parked in Lund spots. The views form the cottage rooms, landing and kitchen is simply outstanding. Little add to other customers: there are complimentary washing up liquid, toilet rolls in every bathroom, washing up tablets etc but only complimentary. It will not be enough for a whole week stay for the whole group of people. Please take some your own with you to avoid unnecessary trips to shops etc. Also there is a lovely wood burner in the cottage for your own logs use. And I personally wish I would know there will be regular visitors as Swans, Ducks, Otters under the balcony and I have packed up some goodies to treat them all. :) :) The whole stay was little a bit like fiery tale to be honest. The location and views across the lake were amazing. We will definitely be looking to book Lund again. The only thing that could be improved is the maintenance of the cottage. We found a few things that appeared to need fixing including lights not working and some skirting underneath the dishwasher that kept falling off. The tiles in some areas and some of the paintwork seemed ready for some touching up as well but that’s just a minor point for such a lovely cottage in such a great location. Very roomy, plenty of space for 6 people to be together and have time alone if they wanted. I’d read recent reviews about cleanliness so was a little dubious as I’m a clean freak but we were pleased with how clean this property was, we could smell cleaning products when we walked in. I like that! The drier didn’t work, that’s my only negative. I like to keep on top of washing when I’m in this country and I struggled getting everything dried for a family of 6. I paid a premium for Lund as it was school hols, in a 5 star property everything needs to work, which is why I’d not rate this a full 5 stars. I’d definitely book this property again, please get the washer drier fixed owners.

The welcome pack and bottle of milk were great and much appreciated. We were really lucky with the weather and enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and dog walking along the lakeside. We didn’t have any trouble parking though it was clear it could be an issue at busy times when the queue for the ferry blocks the car parking area. I didn’t give full marks for comfort as there were only two, two seater settees, the beds were wonderfully comfortable the property was lovely and warm and there was always plenty of hot water. I knocked a point off ‘facilities’ as they need a little renovation, the floor tiles were loose in one bathroom and all needed redecorating. My husband is a keen cook and prepared a wonderful Sunday roast for us, he found the oven temperature was inaccurate, and a couple of larger pans would have helped. Overall we had a great stay at this beautiful property and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it, if you are lucky enough to go do take a plentiful supply of bird seed as you will have a chorus of expectant visitors every morning!

  • "This is a fabulous property in a fabulous location as you can see from the photographs, unfortunately we arrived at 1700hrs on the Friday night when Storm Arwen was at it’s worst."

There are three bedrooms of which we used two hoping that friends could join us for the Tuesday night in the third bedroom. That is a large room with lovely bathroom and velux window. We had a quick look in that room and got on with unpacking, and I lit the wood burner and turned up the radiators looking forward to our evening meal. About 1830 the power went off and was off until late Sunday afternoon. No central heating no lights no internet very iffy mobile signal and no running water as it is pumped, flushing the toilets was done by a bucket of water from the very nearby lake. After a very wild night where hundreds of trees came down, one of which wrote off my two month old car things could not get worse, or could they? The following morning we looked in the third bedroom and found water and debris in the bathroom and a gap all the way around the velux window (we were told later by the roofers that the window had been blown the wrong way round) I wedged the window the best I could to minimise the incoming rain and reported the damage to Sykes. We made the best of the week we cooked two meals on the wood burner which I managed to keep going by using the offending tree resting on my car until power was restored. Obviously our friends couldn’t stay and people staying the following week had to be cancelled. We were having problems getting a hire car and the owners said we could stay an extra couple of nights at £105 per night (most generous) as they couldn’t get anybody else. We managed a hire car and got home, I then asked for compensation starting with their price for two nights, this obviously didn’t go down well but then I received via Sykes the most unbelievably insulting email where the owner accuses us of opening the velux window! I ask anyone reading this review: Would you or anybody you know enter this bathroom on probably the wildest night of the year and open a velux window and how would you feel if you were accused of doing so. What I do know is if that window had been open, even a little, it would have been very noticeable on that wild night but if it was closed but not locked I would not have noticed and it wasn’t my responsibility to check. If it had been left open by the previous guests that is perfectly acceptable, we have stayed at cottages during covid where we have been asked to open windows before leaving. The responsibility for that window being unlocked or faulty is not down to any guests. Beautiful property, you can form your own opinions about the owner.

The cutlery needed washing as did some crockery, the seat mats were not clean. The biggest concern was how cold the floor was, I would recommend low level underfloor heating as my feet got very cold in the evenings. It would be of great benefit if greater emphasis was made to keeping the road in front of the parking bays clear of queuing traffic. The accommodation is in a lovely, relaxing location and we did enjoy our stay, but thought it may be beneficial to provide the above feedback.

A very well appointed holiday property. Only a few negative comments: 1. The floor of our shower needed a proper deep clean (I can send photos if you wish - downstairs). 2. Change of towels mid-week would have been nice, in view that tumble dryer on washer/dryer failed to work. 3. Iced up freezer. Overall a great property, but question the quality of the floor cleaning and bathrooms. Would recommend a deep clean on the showers/bathrooms every couple of weeks, if possible, but difficult with change overs in the holiday season. Maybe on a 2 or 3 week rotation? Would we go back, most probably?

We wondered whether being so close to the ferry would be noisy or annoying but it wasn’t. Other than returning and finding someone parked in our spot (for hours) it was actually convenient being able to see how the queue for the ferry looked and being able to pop over the lake to walk into Bowness-on-Windermere. The only suggestion is possibly putting up a visible “private parking” sign? The little basket of tea, coffee and local treats was a lovely touch - thank you! • "Our stay at Lund was our third visit to Mitchell Wyke."

We have stayed in Macan, one of the one-bedroom properties on two previous occasions - one being in mid July this year. The location of all of the properties with views over the bay are fantastic. Lund is particularly special as it is oriented with views north along the length of Windermere. We booked Lund to stay with family, but COVID-19 related issues meant that we visited just as a couple with a dog. We felt rather decadent having the whole place to ourselves and wished that we could have shared it as planned. Nevertheless it lived up to expectations with the stunning views really being something very special indeed. The inside of the property is immaculate and well equipped, we couldn’t think of anything that we would have wanted in addition. The only omission was sunny weather every day! It was the rainiest August week! The exterior of the windows needed a clean and the balcony could have done with a pressure wash - something we also noted with our visit to Macan earlier this summer, but these are only minor gripes and not issues to complain about. The only real downside to any of the properties is the proximity to the Windermere Car Ferry, while convenient for trips to Bowness-on-Windermere, the queue outside does create problems accessing the parking spaces. Drivers either do not see the (faded) ‘Keep Clear’ markings on the road, or they ignore them. Many times we had difficulty leaving or arriving. For some reason there are people who also park in the marked parking spaces too. We had to ask people to leave so we could park in our clearly marked parking spaces! While this is irritating, inconvenient and causes anxiety (and is noticeably much worse in school holiday time than earlier in the summer), we would not let this stop us booking again in the future, the views (especially from Lund) are spectacular. An added bonus worth noting is that you can access the water from the properties. We brought a paddleboard with us and while one of us messed about on the paddleboard in the bay, the other could relax on the balcony with a glass of something nice. A fellow couple staying in one of the other properties had brought a kayak with them and they were doing the same. We haven’t booked for a future visit but we do hope to be back in the future, it is a gorgeous location.

The location was perfect for enjoying all the lake district has to offer and right next to the ferry across to Bowness. The cottage was clean and very comfortable and the additional bonus of a welcome basket of local produce was a lovely touch. Our week stay at Lund was from the 8th to the 15th of November and as you would expect at that time of the year quite cold. The central heating system alone was not reaching the set temperature and therefore we found the property quite chilly. My advice to anyone booking to stay at Lund in the Winter months, is to arrive with a good supply of logs as you will need to use them along with the central heating to keep the place warm. We would definitely return.

Also close by is ‘Hill Top’, once the home of Beatrix Potter, and Hawkshead with its picturesque 17th century cottages.
