So comfortable. Superbly equipped. Lovely touches like red lights on the logs to look like a fire & fairy lights on the kitchen beam. Great maps & info leaflets. It's our 2nd visit & was fabulous, again. A generous welcome pack. All in all it's a 10/10.

The condition of the property is immaculate and very welcoming. It's location is good for touring the major attractions of the area for example Bowes Museum, Durham Cathedral and Richmond Castle. There is good nearby walks like High and Low Force. Middleton offers good eating out opportunities plus an excellent fish and chip shop. We couldn't fault it in any way. The cottage is clean, well kept and is well stocked having plenty of mugs, plates and kitchen equipment. The thoughtful welcome pack was an added bonus. We had several walks from the cottage, our favourite walk was via Teesdale Way to Eggleston Hall and Gardens and a lovely cafe, the cafe has limited opening days and times. We also caught the bus to Cotherstone and back via Tees Railway Path. A short car drive away there are many different types of walks, over moorland, beside the river or over the hills. This is one of the best places we have stayed at, we plan to come back soon.

It's obvious that they take great pride in the place. On arrival it was so welcoming to open the door to a lovely warm environment and then to find the welcome pack with goodies in as well was just uplifting after being on the road for over 5 hours! Helen introduced herself the next morning and instantly noticed we may have some difficulties navigating the doorstep as my partner is in a wheelchair. There is also steps from the parking area that sykes haven't mentioned that are quite steep and concrete, but there is an alternate route to the cottage by using the sloped driveway next to the property that leads to the pavement and then you just loop down to the where you park for west rein! Helen sourced a ramp and put that in place whilst we were out, which was above and beyond and much appreciated! The property inside is completely accessible and has heated stone flooring. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. It's the perfect base to explore a wide expanse of the area, we went from the Dale's to Hadrians wall. We had some rainy days and some dry days but we only spent one full day in. Kindly provided are a compendium of games and some interesting jigsaws if you want to stay put. The cottage is fully equipped for all your needs.

  • "Immaculate property overlooking the Teesdale valley."

Very friendly and welcoming owners, who live at the next door property. We were greeted by a lovely Welcome Pack and could charge the car, thanks to power sockets near the parking space.

  • "If Carlsberg did holiday accommodation, I'm not sure they'd be able to surpass West Reins."

It really is one of the most beautiful, comfortable, thoughtfully put together holiday rentals I have stayed in for many years. Directions were spot on, parking was easy and access to the property was without incident. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely welcome basket containing wine, coffee, biscuits, crisps and hand sanitiser, and a vase of beautiful fresh roses. The house was immaculate, the kitchen well equipped with everything you could possibly need, including salt, pepper, oil, tin foil, cling film, washing tablets and fabric softener the living area, conservatory and bedroom were all really comfortable with lots of home touches. The shower was wonderful and there were plenty of towels (hand towels, bath towels and bath sheets). I can't write a review without mentioning the view, it really is breathtaking and we spent several evenings just sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine gazing out across the valley. Helen and Richard were perfect hosts and really couldn't do enough to help and happily shared the lovely produce from their greenhouse. I would definitely recommend and very much look forward to visiting again.
